Hang on a minute - I don't understand, @AliceOlive ....is that saying royal titles don't exist in America? On ARO? What about Meghan?

That isn’t ARO. 😆

Quite. Bit of content on this page already.

That’s not official ARO

I suggest you open it in as small a format as you can, I saw it on my laptop, where you can see every detail. You can even see what looks like a rotten tooth at the back of his mouth. Gross.

Oh my God is that actually him? How embarrassing.

Ha ha, yes waffles!

My new line for summer will be Word Salad.

They can use Archie’s waffle maker!

No, exactly. Someone upthread said worse things could happen than a link to a charity. I think some things are already happening.

EmpressOfTheThread · 20/04/2024 21:47

Oh, I see.

MrsFinkelstein · 20/04/2024 21:55

Apparently Martha Stewart is unhappy with the comparisons.

"Sources claimed to In Touch: “Martha has seen hundreds of Meghan types come and go — and says they all come in with the same self-inflated hype, only to find out it’s a whole new ball game when it comes down to brass tacks.

“She’s tired of being quizzed by people over how she feels about Meghan’s venture because, honestly, it’s irritating and insulting to her that she’s being compared to a rookie!”

I'm not a MS fab but can understand why she's irked by this comparison ... as always it's MM playing around with something she may piggy back into, without putting any leg work into it- and MS has worked her arse off for many years to get her business - through thick and thin

BemusedAmerican · 20/04/2024 22:40

I think she pissed off a socialist grifter. No titles in the US and luxurious financial spreadsheets? I wouldn't download anything from that site.

Perhaps both Meghan as well as Harry should brush up on the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution.

TheCraicDealer · 20/04/2024 23:18

I have a wool duvet which has on the label the name of the farm and the fucking flock the wool filling originated from- if this was a really high quality product you would have expected some sort of comment (or a canny readable glance in one of the instagram posts from her mates of whatever note was included with the baskets) from ARO about the provenance of these jams. Like, “We’re thrilled to share with you our first product, a strawberry jam made from organic fruit grown by our friends at Somethingorother Farm*. We’re proud to have partnered with local producers and artisans to bring this product to your table. Thank you for your support for ARO- we’re so excited to share the start of our journey with you”. Or something similar.

(obviously you’d have previously agreed some sort of contract with said farm to ensure no one came in and undercut you and threatened your strawb supply- but if they’ve not snagged domain names it’s hardly likely they’d have done that either)

The fact they’ve not done any of this suggests to me they’ve gone to one of those factories that will make something for you and stick whatever label you need on it. Other millenials might remember how Morphe did that with their make up brushes when they started out, make up influencers shit themselves over them and then it transpired that the fibres/hairs used were basically the lowest grade and they were produced in the same factory that Crown used. Crown of the paintbrushes fame.

Honestly, the whole thing just seems terribly rushed. MM apparently likes to think of herself as a perfectionist but there’s no evidence of that in anything related to this launch.

Geebray · 20/04/2024 11:47

Martha Stewart did.

As did Mary Berry

BemusedAmerican · 20/04/2024 23:37

People on reddit were scanning Google Earth photos of the Montecito estate and reporting no strawberry fields. Apparently it would take a lot of berries and growing space to produce 50 jars of jam.

That looks like the same jam jar as Meghan has used. Made in California.🤔

FloofCloud · 21/04/2024 06:05

@inRange - at least she'd have got 10% discount on her first order 😋

thecatsthecats · 21/04/2024 06:32

I wonder if the person who bought the domain links was the interviewer from the Apprentice who always does it to embarrass candidates?

I find the comments fascinating. So many people clearly see through H&Ms endeavours.

I think it’s such a shame they could have done so much good and don’t really get why it went so wrong for them. I assume it’s because they don’t listen to advice or put ground work in.

Or are - quite literally - entitled.

Solgrass · 21/04/2024 07:44

I doubt that the jam given to the influencers is the exact jam that would be for sale. I think this is more about launching the aesthetics of the brand- I mean you ain’t gona get a bowl of lemons every time you buy a pot of jam.

I don’t think it will have the little jam cover on top either. It’s not a proper jam cover so not wax seal etc, it’s a cream linen- that means it will get marked easily and you couldn’t stack them when packaging etc. It also looks horrifically twee but we know she’s a trad wife now, so you know.

The actual product if it ever comes to fruition (pun intended), will look more traditional; screw lid and ingredients label.
Otherwise she can’t sell it in stores. Either that or she would have to create another layer of packaging putting in a box (beige box, monogram, swirly writing and a statement at the back about how jam can be a call to action to bring communities together to shine a light on ….jam). So it would be even more expensive. Clearly there’s been no serious costing for this all. It’s just the vanity of it that appeals

FloofCloud · 21/04/2024 07:48

@WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout
It's fame for 'being someone' and money greediness. Constantly looking round to see who is watching them. They want a short cut to both, except neither of them have much foundation to them to be honest, no experience producing, interviewing (being interviewed yea ... but not actually asking others about themselves ... hence she turns it around to herself), I'd forgotten about the coffee thing, no idea how that went, but considering I'd completely forgotten I'm assuming it's not huge, and now jams and what looks like a whole bunch of random things hooking her name / address to it, but it looks like there's no experience here, no foundation and she's just using people, again, to try and life her - just emptiness again
Not many of her '50 friends/influencers etc' have stepped up to say much about it - speaks volumes too
As for the fame ... well PH is famous, MM wasn't but caught PH coat tails and it started ok, but now they're really unpopular and a horrible smell resides around them

EdithWeston · 21/04/2024 07:59

I don't think you'd want all 50 going on SM at once.

Just a few to spark the interest (which they got, in spades) and then over time some apparently random comments from other recipients. And always that bit of wondering "who else?" "who got #1?"

(And I expect the linen cover is just decorative, and that there's a screw top underneath. Possibly with a label with all the required product info, or would that just be on the un-photographed back?)

Solgrass · 21/04/2024 08:14

Yes a screw top underneath the cover but I can’t see how that cover won’t get marked. Its not wax sealed or using an oil cloth. It’s gauzy linen.

Of the jams sent out, only a few will have had instructions- post picks, here’s the hashtag. I’m sure Oprah got one etc but won’t have been asked to post.

This show is going to be each episode, Meghan making something for a ‘dear friend’ (most useful idiot) and the reason why she’s making this for said friend. Then it will all be packaged up beautifully - so lemon and olive oil cake covered with cloth, put into a willow basket garnished with lemons and a calligraphy note (available on ARO) gushing about how special the friend is. Either that or affirmations on written on lemons saying you are loved. Said friend then gushes how amazing cake is and how great Meghan is, so down to earth. Next episode. Repeat.

So exactly how these jams have been sent out

Grin I was also thinking the same!
