And I didn’t know Darryl Hannah married Neil Young!

Ouch! That article doesn't pull any punches.

Edited because posted too soon.

@BemusedAmerican That is such a weird article. Why would they compare these two women? The comments are interesting, though. NYC is so small.

Doesn’t it compare them because they both married into “royalty”?

Meghan (along with many other women!) does appear to have been influenced by Carolyn’s very pared back neutrals and polished style. This article pulls out the main examples

How Meghan has been channelling Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy's wardrobe

Meghan, 36, chose a camel skirt and black polo top for her first official engagement with Prince Harry in Nottingham. The ensemble is strikingly similar to one worn by Carolyn Bessette.

Yeah, that makes sense. Married to children of icons.

BemusedAmerican · 04/05/2024 22:25

JFK Jr. was much hotter than Harry. Simply no comparison.

Yes, rolling on the grass, indicating possible ways of eating said jam and possibly admiring superfluous lemons.
My husband came home this afternoon with a whole bag of lemons he'd got cheap at the market. I said "where's the jam?" He didn't understand 😂

He’d have understood fine if you’d have been wearing a ballgown…

StartupRepair · 05/05/2024 00:06

I found that article interesting because I often think about the difference between Harry and Caroline Kennedy. (JFK 's daughter, we hear a lot about her in Australia because she is the US ambassador here). Like Harry she lost a parent in terrible public circumstances with global shock and grief. Her childhood was being chased by paparazzi. She then went on to lose her mother quite young and her brother tragically young. Never once has she complained or asked for public sympathy. She has built a solid family and life of service and contribution. Huge contrast with Harry.

Mummyoflittledragon · 05/05/2024 00:15

I imagine that contrast is because JFK and Jackie Kennedy both seemed comfortable in their own skins and supportive of one another. Caroline Kennedy appears the same. Grounded, in contrast to Harry and Diana. It doesn’t appear as though Harry has yet truly engaged with proper therapy.

MeandBobbyMcGoo · 05/05/2024 00:17

I do sometimes wonder if Meghan is OK when watching videos with her expressions or how awkward she comes across sometimes.

I don't think MM is in any way interested in what PH looks like ... it's all about how she can use him as a ladder

I wonder if Meghan reads articles about herself?

I imagine she devours the press!

BemusedAmerican · 04/05/2024 21:00

Ouch! That's got to sting !

EmpressOfTheThread · 05/05/2024 06:00

@StartupRepair excellent points about Caroline Kennedy. What a contrast with Harry. She has gone on to build a career and give proper public service. She could have made a career of her victimhood, like Harry has. She had nothing to do with the ludicrous Ripple of Hope award either.

Thedom · 05/05/2024 08:46

Are Vogue having a snigger ?

A several page spread of a Goop collaboration in Gwyneth's back garden with plenty of photos of M&H friends in attendance, doesn't say if H&M were there, no photos of them, but the accompanying article ....🙄🙄

In keeping with Montecito’s reputation as the ‘American Riviera,

Much of the evening’s décor was Loro Piana, from the wicker baskets and pillows to the cashmere blankets—soft accents that complemented Paltrow’s tranquil garden setting.

The goop founder, in collaboration with Loro Piana hosted a note-perfect evening outdoors surrounded by lemon trees.

The setup looks stunning, Gwyneth's kids are grown up and gorgeous, Gwyneth looking amazing. There is also a photo of a place setting written in a very neat calligraphy style.

ETA the link to the article messed up the post.

Do you think she has any facility at all for self criticism? I don’t.

EmpressOfTheThread · 05/05/2024 08:55

That looks like a gorgeous event, doesn't it? So stylish and the gardens look beautiful.

No, it's a major problem. The lack of self awareness and self reflection.

Thatsthewayitisnt · 05/05/2024 08:57

Definitely dig at MM. it’s got to have hurt that they weren’t invited. I have to say though it all sounds very trite.

EmpressOfTheThread · 05/05/2024 08:58

They would have loved to have been invited, and it's very telling that they weren't.

Serenster · 05/05/2024 09:10

It’s kind of odd that Abigail Spencer was invited (does she also live in Montecito, then?) but no mention of Meghan.

LaMarschallin · 05/05/2024 09:39

At last. Something I've got in common with Gwyneth P: As for the time? Guests stayed seated enjoying themselves well past nine.
I can't do late nights anymore either.

(I do realise she was referring to what she initially said)

jumping stan marsh GIF by South Park

No doubt they would say they weren’t able to attend anyway due to time constraints for unpacking returned jams/polishing the aviation award/re-folding the cashmere blankets/rolling around in grass or training ever present gastropods to emulate catastrophic chases.

Surrounded by lemon trees though?

Perfection.
