Couldn't resist opening it with this from the last thread 😁

I had high hopes for her ARO, I thought by Easter which is a very big holiday in the US , things like biscuits , Easter chocolates, Serveware , napkins etc.. would be released . Nothing!

they just distributed 50 jams to people with very short memory , or perhaps pay and I’ll fawn type of people.
I absolutely have no idea what’s their direction is now!

I absolutely have no idea what’s their direction is now!

Maybe that's the plan?! 😁
I'd laugh if the first thing out wasn't actually jam, and instead was something like a cookbook with a recipe to make your own, or a jam pan or something 😂
The Daily Mail would lose their shit lol

EmpressOfTheThread · 27/04/2024 14:25

Oh the Daily Mail would love it. Anything like that! It's all about the clicks.
Harry and Meghan need the clicks.
Faustian pact?

BackToWhereItAllBegan · 27/04/2024 14:43

I don't know how successful Meghan will be if she's trying to emulate Joanna Gaines and the Magnolia network.
I remember watching Joanna and Chip when they first started on Fixer Upper about ten years ago. They both had backgrounds in the industry, Joanna in interior design and Chip in renovating homes so they came across as knowledgeable and authentic. They had a very recognizable style of their own, a kind of farmhouse shabby chic which was then easy to spin off in to homewares which are still sold in Target.
They featured their own home and home town constantly led to them opening a kind of village their called the Silos which is shops, restaurants (and maybe a hotel?)
They are both charismatic and engaging without being pretentious.
It appears that Meghan is trying to jump straight to the point that Chip & Joanna are at now but it's taken them years of starting at the bottom and building up their brand and fan base gradually.

I have a wonderful Mauviel copper jam pot that I use for my paperwhites , looks fabulous on the dinner table, but that’s just about it ! a centrepiece for the table . Much easier to buy jam, it’s the one thing in abundance!

actually a cookbook is not a bad idea , a collection of recipes, a family recipe with lovely story to go with it anything!

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 27/04/2024 14:48

A family recipe? What family?

Erm, her mum might have a good jam recipe for all you know? 😕
Have we just lost Doria now?! 😁

EmpressOfTheThread · 27/04/2024 14:52

She was quite into the cooking when she lived with that chef - Corey?
Maybe she could use his recipes.

FlouncetteLaFroth · 27/04/2024 14:53

I think that if more tales of bullying come out, it will do no end of damage to the new lifestyle brand.

It will take a lot more than a beaming smile and a pigeon dress to make that go away.

I’m sure Doria has a very special brownie recipe.

GoodAfternoonGoodEveningAndGoodnight · 27/04/2024 14:58

@Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar
Am I missing something there?! 😳

Has the pigeon dress been eclipsed by the polo bandage dress?
We shall see what she wears next. Well, that's her job now, mainly.

GoodAfternoonGoodEveningAndGoodnight · 27/04/2024 14:59

Bit of elaboration on what you mean there would be good @Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar

GoodAfternoonGoodEveningAndGoodnight · 27/04/2024 15:01

As I genuinely don't know what that's referring to

FlouncetteLaFroth · 27/04/2024 15:02

The moment when the jam recipe was denied?

Paul Hollywood’s from a packet are lovely.

What are you referring to with Doria?
Bit of context would be nice

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 27/04/2024 15:04

Brownies, are like a chocolatey cake confection that are chewy on the outside and gooey in the middle. They are a classic, entry level mother and child bit of baking.

EmpressOfTheThread · 27/04/2024 15:05

Oh yes, I know what you mean by brownies.

I’ve not tried that. Is it in all good supermarkets?

I’d a fabulous no fail recipe once from a Canadian friend and I’ve lost it. Gutted.

I am wondering if Netflix will turn the show into one where they show Meghan trying to start her business and promote her brand interspersed with the cooking segments.

I am doubtful that she will get enough guests willing to demonstrate a meal. Based on her ability to make toast, she does not appear to be a compelling culinary speaker. I couldn't watch an hour of her demonstrating how to make a roast chicken (although I assume more lemons will appear).

Straight cooking shows are also out of fashion now. As with so much else, if you're looking for a recipe you'll head to Youtube or social media, rather than sit around watching on the off chance that the TV cook is making something you fancy. The peak of the 'celebrity chef' was some time ago. And Meghan is not a celebrity chef. She has no background in cooking at all.

So there will need to be something 'extra' to draw in viewers. The blurb mentioned something about 'celebrating friendship' so I wonder if some of the recipients of the amazing jam are involved? But if so, does anyone care about any of them?

BoohooWoohoo · 27/04/2024 15:08

It appears that Meghan is trying to jump straight to the point that Chip & Joanna are at now but it's taken them years of starting at the bottom and building up their brand and fan base gradually.

It looked like she had this problem with being a royal too. She wanted important jobs like Sophie and Catherine without acknowledging that they both did a decade plus of the low key stuff like visiting community centres. Had she stuck with the progression, she would have earned the speeches at the UN, tiaras while shaking hands with important people like presidents too.

I know what one is, love brownies.
Just wasn't sure why you'd think she'd only be good for entry level baking recipes with your child
Seeing as we were talking about using family recipes.

Edited as said child baking recipes and just sounded like I was talking about baking children 😳🤣

Yes, seconded on the Paul Hollywood brownies, they are surprisingly good for a packet mix😋

This sort of thing would be absolutely perfect https://www.mrsalice.com/?gad_source=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI1eDf5cjihQMVHZpQBh3VtATEEAAYASAAEgJY3PD_BwE

Meghan would be perfectly positioned to become the Hollywood Hills version of Alice Naylor-Leyland. Or at least she would have been until she and Haz started tarnishing their reputation. I'm not sure she will ever be able to aspire to being an upper class, elegant socialite any more. She's no Jackie K.
