I just wanted to share some thoughts I've had since talking to some RL friends last night. I'm a Republican, and didn't actually post much on any of the threads on here. But I did read them, laugh at the ones I found funny and speculated a little IRL. I enjoy robust mental health, but I feel a little sad and down today about the news. And a little guilty. It occurs to me that it might be a real source of distress to some other people. Not the big media ghouls, of course, they have no shame and will just move on to the next thing without looking back, but for those of us who bought in to the whole farrago and maybe posted things we now wish we hadn't. So remember, the media often manipulates us, the establishment often lies to us and it's actually a good thing not to immediately take what we're told at face value. Don't beat yourself up and find someone to talk to if you feel really bad about it. Take care of yourselves.

And all the while @MNHQ continued to platform the trolls no matter how blatant the agenda. It was 100% obvious that bad actors were involved in the threads on here but no matter, clicks are clicks and woe betide anyone who raised their hand.

Yes, all the same talking point, repeated again and again. The sub context is always the same. Catherine is a step ford wife and abused, William is unfit to lead and generally a bad man. No evidence provided other than a whole load of gossip and misogyny wrapped up in faux concern.

Its funny because thats what supporters of the Sussexes say about criticisms of them too! A whole lot of gossip and misogyny.

AliceOlive · 25/03/2024 11:43

@PinkTonic it goes beyond that.

musthorse · 25/03/2024 11:45

@areyoutheregod please don't put words into my posts that are not there. Please don't say I am troll hunting. I never used the word. In saying so YOU are actually breaking talk guidelines. If you feel I have broken guidelines feel free to report me. Thanks.

What an 'utterly bizarre' response to my post which you have not only mis-interpreted but taken out of context

I was simply providing a piece of information showing that the BBC felt the need to pre-empt conspiracy theories by giving details of how the piece was recorded

Yes, I think I understood perfectly.

I haven't put any words in your mouth, I have just responded to your insinuations and offered a bit of advice. Take it or leave it.

PinkTonic · 25/03/2024 11:49

@AliceOlive now I’m intrigued

AliceOlive · 25/03/2024 11:49

Good to see posters pushing back when someone quotes them and twists their words. I’ve firsthand seen posts moderated because someone else was doing this!! It’s very upsetting. I understand the board moves fast but it creates a terrible environment.

So if someone twists your meaning, correct them!!!

Is criticism of the actions and words of the Sussexes seeking to destabilise the head of state of a major superpower and consequent knock on effect on the world order? No, I thought not. Please don't confuse people laughing at Harry's todger and Meghan's word salad, with a hostile state controlled social media attack on Catherine and William, aided and abetted by useful SM idiots and opportunistic republicans.

Oh my goodness, thats clearly an overstatement! yes, from what Ive seen of the criticisms, especially here, they are based on gossip and reek of misogyny. the rest of your post not worth responding to.

what does that have to do with my post? Are you accusing me of something?

Salemforcuddles · 25/03/2024 12:10

Where is the misogyny?

areyoutheregod · 25/03/2024 12:11

like with Kate, it's everywhere. Starting with Meghan being the blame for their exit. But no, I am not going to list every example for you. I am making a general comment like the poster I responded to who also did not have a list!

AliceOlive · 25/03/2024 12:12

Salemforcuddles · 25/03/2024 12:10

Where is the misogyny?

It lies in the belief that all criticism of a person’s behaviors should be withheld if the person in question is a woman.

Salemforcuddles · 25/03/2024 12:13

So no examples whatsoever? Thought so

Why, because you have no argument? Whitehall are the ones reporting that he attacks of the Wales family has been orchestrated by Russia, China and Iran.

It's not misogyny to call out the poor behaviour of a woman. It's misogynist to attribute that behaviour to her being a woman. I don't. I attribute that behaviour to her being a deeply unpleasant individual, just like her husband. And none of my judgment is based on gossip, only on their own on the record words and deeds.

AliceOlive · 25/03/2024 12:14

@Salemforcuddles Have you ever felt you were being held to a different standard or treated differently because of your gender?

I mean in a seemingly protective or nice way?

Salemforcuddles · 25/03/2024 12:15

On many occasion @AliceOlive, on many occasion

No it doesn't, please don't tell me what I believe. The other poster said there is misogyny around Kate but you don't think there is any in the criticisms of Meghan? Of course.

areyoutheregod · 25/03/2024 12:16

Salemforcuddles · 25/03/2024 12:13

I gave you one. I am not obliged to list them, I am giving an opinion on the overall treatment and criticism and that Meghan has borne the brunt of it.

Lots of your posts are based on gossip, I consider most tabloid articles to be gossip.

Salemforcuddles · 25/03/2024 12:18

@areyoutheregod Ah so changing the goal posts now, your original post stated that is was misogyny on here but now it's in general

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 25/03/2024 12:22

Ok, let's take an example. Meghan makes a speech at the Invictus games I want to comment on. The words of the speech are a fact, because they came out of her mouth. Those words are reported in a tabloid. The exact same words are also reported in a broadsheet. I read them from a tabloid and comment on them. Am I commenting on gossip?

Wickedlywearynamechange · 25/03/2024 12:23

Please don't confuse people laughing at Harry's todger and Meghan's word salad, with a hostile state controlled social media attack on Catherine and William, aided and abetted by useful SM idiots and opportunistic republicans.

But if that’s the case, British tabloid media and similar media from ‘friendly’ countries also ‘aided and abetted.’ It wasn’t just social media.

No doubt there was some unfriendly foreign interference but I think it’s been overstated in the above.

In my opinion the destabilization theory would support the need for more effective communications and PR.
