I just wanted to share some thoughts I've had since talking to some RL friends last night. I'm a Republican, and didn't actually post much on any of the threads on here. But I did read them, laugh at the ones I found funny and speculated a little IRL. I enjoy robust mental health, but I feel a little sad and down today about the news. And a little guilty. It occurs to me that it might be a real source of distress to some other people. Not the big media ghouls, of course, they have no shame and will just move on to the next thing without looking back, but for those of us who bought in to the whole farrago and maybe posted things we now wish we hadn't. So remember, the media often manipulates us, the establishment often lies to us and it's actually a good thing not to immediately take what we're told at face value. Don't beat yourself up and find someone to talk to if you feel really bad about it. Take care of yourselves.

The Royal Family are well protected and cared for. it's us who should be worried if we ever get ill.

And yet you wish them a speedy recovery and hope they get well, yadda yadda.

You know. Pointing out they are human beings and that. (We just about realised) Then practically telling us the revolution is coming.

As for us being worried if we should ever get ill and the RF being well protected?

My parents, sibling and nephew have all been chapping at death’s door over recently. All are still here because of their treatment and the care they still receive.

All your statement says to me is that the RF are as susceptible to illness as the rest of us, despite the care they have available.

Me? All I’m worried about is my eyes wearing out from reading streams of unadulterated pish.

And yet you wish them a speedy recovery and hope they get well, yadda yadda.

Lucky for some who can jump the NHS queue. My mum wasn't so fortunate. I do wish Kate a speedy recovery why wouldn't I?

ArcaneWireless · 24/03/2024 16:20

The members of my family all ‘jumped the NHS queue’. Because they were all, in their own ways, having major health issues that required immediate attention. Immediate.

Girning about someone jumping the queue - whatever that means for anyone else - then wishing them a speedy recovery is well nasty in my world.

Well nasty.

ArcaneWireless · 24/03/2024 16:30

And no amount of queue jumping would have saved my grandparents.

And I do sometimes wish things had been different but cancer is a bastard. Aneurysms are a bastard. Alzheimers is a bastard.

We never know the day.

What I won’t be doing is moaning because someone else has been more fortunate than them.

I choose to cherish the memories instead of sniping at a mother who has three kids first and foremost in her mind. I presume like any mother would do.

We. Never. Know. The. Day.

Your family would not receive the same amount of care like the RF. The RF will receive better treatments that are not on the NHS and far better care.

ArcaneWireless · 24/03/2024 16:34

They are all alive which screams to me that the care they got was just fine.

Well nasty.

jeffgoldblum · 24/03/2024 16:36

What exactly is your point @Carpediemmakeitcount
Because it's sounds a lot like sour grapes to me!

anotherside · 24/03/2024 09:29

“That would not have stopped the nastiness, conspiracy theories and speculation”.

The family is worth £35 billion, have £30 million quid televised weddings, huge televised state occasions and spend months each year on the front pages of national newspapers over various dramas, falling outs, and occasionally suspected foul play ( eg, Charles lobbying Parliament, alleged racist abuse/bullying, Andrew’s escapades). In that context, expecting a global internet comprised of 5 billion individuals to suddenly maintain radio silence when the wife of the future king goes of the radar with not a peep for three months bar one staged/heavily edited photo is hardly realistic. And the vast majority of the speculation I saw was no more than “I think something is up/they’re not telling us the whole story here”, which sadly turned out to be the case.

Everyone is equal and everyone deserves good and fair treatment and care. We should all have access to the same treatments not one better than the other.

Yeah. No.

spanieleyes · 24/03/2024 16:40

Whilst I am very sorry for your loss ( I lost both my parents within a week of each other during COVID so do have some understanding of grief) do you feel this level of anger towards anyone who can afford private care or just the royal family?

I think there is a big difference between a discussion about how to make a more equal society- i think most people would be in favour - and nasty persons attacks. Let's face it, the RF have a lot of wealth and privilege, but many more have that wealth and privilege but don't face scrutiny.

I am all in favour of a more equal society, i find the personal attacks unpleasant and unnecessary

? OK, I think we can all see your agenda here

ArcaneWireless · 24/03/2024 16:43

So what is your opinion on the post above yours then snail?

ArcaneWireless · 24/03/2024 16:44

Point proven.

As I said.

Just well nasty.

OneHeartySnail · 24/03/2024 16:45

But Andrew...

WTF has he to do with this discussion? Except to bash the RF

SuziQuinto · 24/03/2024 16:48

Oh my god. I can't believe someone would post that, @Carpediemmakeitcount
Seriously.

myrtleWilson · 24/03/2024 16:49

When someone shows you who they are.... eh @Carpediemmakeitcount

My goodness, I hope I am not held responsible for all and any of my extended family's views!

A load of people sticking the boot in to anybody isn't heartening. And that's what this is giving people the opportunity to do....the very first things posted on MN after the announcement weren't "oh no, how sad" but "hang your heads in shame you disgusting people" over and over, a lot of quite weirdly angry posts. It's literally giving people some kind of outlet and it's pretty ironic.

Ironic alright - it was ok for them to stick the boot in Kate and William? Hypocrisy at its best!!

Canthave2manycats · 24/03/2024 16:55

bentle · 24/03/2024 10:26

The abysmal handling of the situation by KP has facilitated the airing of some useful and legitimate criticism of the rf. The phrase 'conspiracy theories' isn't convincing when used with the aim of shutting down legitimate criticism which is what appears to be happening on these threads. Some extreme theories are out of the window for sure but the fact that Kate's doctors have recommended preventative chemotherapy doesn't mean that a significant number of things said about William in particular isn't correct. Kate's course of treatment isn't an either/ or with much of the other stuff which has been levelled.

Also, there's a certain amount of unedifying smug going on at the moment - and it's very clearly not coming from those who called out certain members of the rf for how they conduct themselves in all manner of dubious ways. So when there are all these calls for looking at selves in mirrors, check yourselves out maybe?

Bollocks.

@Carpediemmakeitcount You really had my sympathy over your bereavement, but you've lost it with that disgusting comment about Catherine's kids. I really think you need to take a break from this thread now for your own sake.

musthorse · 24/03/2024 16:56

Is this it now? The top line of attack ? Kate had private health treatment ? This is all some sad sacks can say to get at her now?

Yes, which demonstrates complete and utter ignorance of cancer treatment in the UK.
Of course.
