I just wanted to share some thoughts I've had since talking to some RL friends last night. I'm a Republican, and didn't actually post much on any of the threads on here. But I did read them, laugh at the ones I found funny and speculated a little IRL. I enjoy robust mental health, but I feel a little sad and down today about the news. And a little guilty. It occurs to me that it might be a real source of distress to some other people. Not the big media ghouls, of course, they have no shame and will just move on to the next thing without looking back, but for those of us who bought in to the whole farrago and maybe posted things we now wish we hadn't. So remember, the media often manipulates us, the establishment often lies to us and it's actually a good thing not to immediately take what we're told at face value. Don't beat yourself up and find someone to talk to if you feel really bad about it. Take care of yourselves.

Sorry snail we kind of cross posted.

I would love a more equal society but I’m not sure that will ever be achievable sadly. It hasn’t changed in centuries really.

It beggars belief though that anyone would begrudge another person a procedure that will allow them more time with their family.

@Carpediemmakeitcount You really had my sympathy over your bereavement, but you've lost it with that disgusting comment about Catherine's kids. I really think you need to take a break from this thread now for your own sake.

💐Milk you’ve been very kind to this poster. I hope it was truly deserved.

They caught it early so she'll be bouncing around with her children in no time.

Ok so we have Kate’s oncologist then???!!!

themessygarden · 24/03/2024 17:03

@Carpediemmakeitcount I am so sorry for your loss, I lost my mum many years ago through a medical 'accident' under anaesthetic, and lost my dad recently, I really feel for you as I recognise that feeling of 'anger', although I don't know if anger is the right word.

Canthave2manycats · 24/03/2024 17:09

Carpediemmakeitcount · 24/03/2024 11:19

I don't wish death on anybody I wish her a speedy recovery and for the cancer to be gone. What do you wish for her?

I wish for her that people like you would go away and stop talking shit about her! And Andrew doesn’t represent anyone? Have you been under a rock?! Actually….

@themessygarden i think we all feel for those who have lost loved ones - through cancer, lack if services, or sheer random circumstances.

That doesn't make it acceptable to attack others who are experiencing life threatening illnesses.

For goodness sake, surely Charles and Catherine's diagnoses show that anyone can get cancer?

I agree with people angry that NHS cancer services are cut to the minimum. Please keep that in mind in this year's general election. The RF don't have control over NHS services, our elected government does

I must have missed something, looks like a nasty deleted post ! would probably have been less forgiving if I had seen it.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 24/03/2024 17:14

My mother died of undetected pneumonia whilst being treated for something else, and my father of CDifficil while being treated for something else. Yes, it makes you angry when you feel a death was preventable or premature. However, I would never in a million years channel that anger into begrudging anyone else getting the best treatment available to them. Nor would I snark about their children being looked after by an undesirable in some sort of vengeance wish meted out on little kids for the offence of their mother having private care. And private health care doesn’t include some sort of magic cancer cures not available on the NHS. The UK does actually have a robust system of medical ethics, believe it or not.

You do not want to know.

ArcaneWireless · 24/03/2024 17:14

I think many of us would recognise anger, resentment and lashing out amongst abject sorrow and loss. Most of us will have been there.

But that was not that.

Thanks, should have read the posts following the deleted post and I would have guessed.

themessygarden · 24/03/2024 17:19

The thing is Catherine didn't skip any NHS queue, she didn't take up a needed NHS bed, so it's a really futile argument any way.

I think there are still a few communist countries left around the world to move to, if having a 'so called' equal society is more important than a capitalist democratic one.

Me neither

I know this opinion will be unwelcome, unpopular and possibly irritating. But in good conscience I watch that video and think it looks more AI than real.

At first I thought it was because she was both ill and heavily botoxed. But it really is only her eyes and her mouth moving and changing.

Ring shming, neither here or there on that.

But if you just listen to the soundtrack and watch her hands… they don’t really match up, especially in the latter half. Likewise listening to the soundtrack and just watching the pattern of her blinking. It’s off. Her pinkie flutters oddly once or twice.

Three separate people on Twitter claiming to be sound engineers say they can tell from the audio layers that it’s definitely been filmed indoors, with a boom, against a green screen. Someone has claimed the birdsong is on a loop.

Why does she sit so squint and awkwardly when making such an important announcement?

I guess the sadness of this new AI / deep fake world we live in is not just that we think fake things are real, but we think real things are fake; and so begin to lose all trust in one another. So we need to be very careful in our words. And I’m not really seeking to persuade anyone else; but in my own heart & mind I’m still not convinced I’ve actually seen the PoW since Christmas.

I think you mean hope rather than know?

SuziQuinto · 24/03/2024 17:32

Oh ffs. The batshittery continues.....

AliceOlive · 24/03/2024 17:32

Would have been good advice for someone right here on this thread. Seems they’ve moved along now though.

With all due respect... everything you've posted after opinion, is in fact completely false, made up buffoonery!!

Carpediemmakeitcount · 24/03/2024 12:07

I am not justifying what Blake posted and she was right to apologise. Kate did leave herself open to ridicule and yes it was in bad taste especially now after hearing the news. It was Kate getting hounded and now it's Blake that's what it means to be in the spotlight.

Kate did NOT leave herself open to ridicule - that's a crazy thing to say! What, by having surgery and getting fucking cancer? Wise up!

SomethingUniqueThisTime · 24/03/2024 17:34

@LittleGlowingOblong
Just because someone says they are a sound engineer doesn’t mean they are! Try to be more sceptical about what you read online.

SuziQuinto · 24/03/2024 17:36

@LittleGlowingOblong - just a question slightly off topic...do you believe that men landed on the moon?

SuziQuinto · 24/03/2024 17:38

It reminds me of an episode of Frasier where a Congressman thought he'd met aliens.
Niles: "you don't think there's intelligent life on other planets?"
Frasier: "I don't think there's intelligent life in this kitchen".

RockyandBullwinkle · 24/03/2024 17:39

I stupidly read that lengthy post, what a load of absolute guff.

People on Twitter claiming to be sound engineers 🤣🤣🤣
