I just wanted to share some thoughts I've had since talking to some RL friends last night. I'm a Republican, and didn't actually post much on any of the threads on here. But I did read them, laugh at the ones I found funny and speculated a little IRL. I enjoy robust mental health, but I feel a little sad and down today about the news. And a little guilty. It occurs to me that it might be a real source of distress to some other people. Not the big media ghouls, of course, they have no shame and will just move on to the next thing without looking back, but for those of us who bought in to the whole farrago and maybe posted things we now wish we hadn't. So remember, the media often manipulates us, the establishment often lies to us and it's actually a good thing not to immediately take what we're told at face value. Don't beat yourself up and find someone to talk to if you feel really bad about it. Take care of yourselves.

They represent you don't you care or is it put up and shut up. You have a voice you should use it against Andrew. He should not be there representing you. Too much violence against women it must end

I'm sure that makes perfect sense to you.

Don't tell me what I 'should' be doing, thanks. MN is far too fond of that word.

Are you serious Mumsnet land do you have daughter's?

You've reminded me Spare is the next book I am going to read.

What apology? Did she apologize for having cancer?

When she apologised about the picture. We're talking about apologies here, someone makes a mistake and apologies. On one hand people accept kates apology for her mistake, Blake made a mistake and apologised and you question it. So I'm wondering why? If people make mistakes and take ownership of it by apologising that shoikd be it right, but you specifically challenge it so I'm trying to understand why

ArcaneWireless · 24/03/2024 11:27

Because Blake made her apology all about her feelings as I said above.

It isn’t an apology if you make it all about your hurty feelies.

I am not aware of Catherine making any mistake, so no need to apologize.

Or did she go after a woman having health problems and experiencing a global meltdown due to her absence?

AliceOlive · 24/03/2024 11:36

And did Blake apologize to the person she injured? Maybe she did privately and had enough dignity and good sense to keep it to herself rather than having her “spokes person” make a statement about it to TMZ.

Carpediemmakeitcount · 24/03/2024 11:19

I don't wish death on anybody I wish her a speedy recovery and for the cancer to be gone. What do you wish for her?

That people don’t make such speculations about her health. Nor dismiss the experience of surgery, cancer and chemotherapy as “she’ll be fine!”

Are you seriously using emotional blackmail. Blake Lively didn't know that at the time. She felt guilty and apologised what's wrong with you.

ArcaneWireless · 24/03/2024 11:41

She didn’t apologise to the person she mocked.

Her apology was all about her feelings.

Kate looked optimistic for the future of her health. It's not easy when someone is given that diagnosis. I believe with the care and information she has been given to equip herself mentally she will be fine. It would have been a different speech if it was the opposite.

AliceOlive · 24/03/2024 11:47

@Carpediemmakeitcount She didn’t know Catherine had abdominal surgery and was being hunted down and harassed globally? Perhaps you should be asking what was wrong with Blake.

Carpediemmakeitcount · 24/03/2024 11:48

I read Blake's apology it doesn't come across as poor me. She was genuinely sorry what more can she do.

Yes, I think she should appeal to the committee for people who were shitty and woke up feeling badly about it for comfort.

Her own fans are saying otherwise, in thousands of comments. She deleted the stupid post so now they are commenting on other posts she’s made.

It’s a bit brutal actually.

seriously? Adults should know better... if people feel they behaved badly why are you telling them not to beat themselves up? They behaved badly - maybe time to learn from it that being kind costs nothing.

Did her fans say anything at the time before Kate's announcement?

Yes, they expressed shock and disgust at her post but she left it up.

She has cried about her own harassment. They mentioned this and her friendship with Taylor Swift who is a true anti-bullying advocate. I read a number that basically said “always thought you were nice but this is awful.”

AliceOlive · 24/03/2024 12:02

“She didn’t know.”

🏅🏅🏅 For this one.

AliceOlive · 24/03/2024 12:03

Equating online bullying with editing a family photo.

ArcaneWireless · 24/03/2024 12:03

It was missing a sorry to the person she mocked.

I don’t believe that she should be blasted for it.

BUT

She said sorry because she felt like an arsehole after the announcement.

She didn’t say sorry because she was an arse in the first place.

And that is what she is getting called out for.

It was all about how she felt. Not about how she made someone feel.

It wasn’t even an ‘I’m sorry you feel that way’ non apology.

It just wasn’t a proper sorry.

I am not justifying what Blake posted and she was right to apologise. Kate did leave herself open to ridicule and yes it was in bad taste especially now after hearing the news. It was Kate getting hounded and now it's Blake that's what it means to be in the spotlight.

AliceOlive · 24/03/2024 12:10

Love it when someone proudly shows their true colors.

ArcaneWireless · 24/03/2024 12:10

Walk a mile in someone else’s shoes time for BL…

Maybe she will get a tiny bit of realisation about how she contributed to a social media onslaught.

I’ve a feeling she might not be liking them apples.
