I just wanted to share some thoughts I've had since talking to some RL friends last night. I'm a Republican, and didn't actually post much on any of the threads on here. But I did read them, laugh at the ones I found funny and speculated a little IRL. I enjoy robust mental health, but I feel a little sad and down today about the news. And a little guilty. It occurs to me that it might be a real source of distress to some other people. Not the big media ghouls, of course, they have no shame and will just move on to the next thing without looking back, but for those of us who bought in to the whole farrago and maybe posted things we now wish we hadn't. So remember, the media often manipulates us, the establishment often lies to us and it's actually a good thing not to immediately take what we're told at face value. Don't beat yourself up and find someone to talk to if you feel really bad about it. Take care of yourselves.

And you are telling us that that woman is well enough to decide, wo her dh or her PR team (or even against them?), to direct a full in PR campaign that included photoshopped photos, look alike people at the farm and someone in the car that was supposed to be her?

I note that you're assuming deliberate intention to mislead instead of ineptitude. Why is that?

One photoshopped picture. That she apologised for.
The car thing - she probably didn't feel up to driving so she got her mother to do it.
Lookalikes at the farmshop - is that definite, or just something you want to believe because it makes the PoW look bad?

All the above hardly constitutes a 'full on PR campaign' - and as people have pointed out, with cancer you can have good days and bad days. Days when you can work and days when you stay under the duvet (or want to).

As it turned out Catherine was extremely unwell. It was not a simple operation with a return at Easter as we were told.
It is even worse than most of the conspiracy theories.

But that's what it was initially. The cancer wasn't detected until some time following from her surgery. So what we were told was true when we were told it. So many fantasists with probably very boring lives had to stir it all up into something it wasn't. KP said we would be told when there was anything to tell. Thus it has happened. Simple and straightforward, which should have been easy to comprehend even for those of limited intelligence.

crumblingschools · 23/03/2024 16:37

Some of those things were said @Polishedshoesalways but that didn’t satisfy the batshit vultures and ghouls. Then when she was diagnosed with cancer what were they meant to say, everything’s fine, which would have been a lie.

myrtleWilson · 23/03/2024 16:37

Given what we now know (and without repeating what others have said about her agency and role as Principal) it makes much more sense to me that she did the alterations to the photo - rather than someone else doing it. The utter poignancy of wanting that photo of her and her children to be perfect is quite shattering.

Polishedshoesalways · 23/03/2024 16:37

Ultimately I think KP panicked with the stress of the situation, that is what it looks like now.

ArcaneWireless · 23/03/2024 16:37

I can’t even.

Nono22972 · 23/03/2024 16:38

The King’s diagnosis was handled so beautifully, smoothly without fuss and he retained his dignity and integrity throughout. I felt the opposite was true in Catherine’s case.

Unlike his DIL, The King's children are adults. I understand W&C wanting to wait until their children were out of school to tell them

AndAllOurYesterdays · 23/03/2024 16:39

People trying to fill the information vacuum over Kate reminds me a bit of when Nicola Bulley was missing. There were threads on here over analysing and speculating wildly because they couldn't understand how the police were so convinced she was in the river. It got so bad that the police released some incredibly private information about the case which must have been so painful for her family.

I have said already I feel they should have followed the Kings strategy. The princess has been diagnosed with cancer, she is receiving treatment and responding well. She would like to thank the public for their support and for some privacy to recover and heal. End of.

The King did exactly that and we did not see the wretched media circus at all. Just support and respect. The two couldn’t be more different.

crumblingschools · 23/03/2024 16:41

@myrtleWilson exactly what I think, making a treasured photo for them

As I pointed out upthread, the two situations are entirely different. Scroll back and read it. CBA typing it again.

It would be interesting to have known the opinions of some during the nastiness.

It just seems odd that there is so much of an opinion on it all now when there is no evidence of one before.

SuziQuinto · 23/03/2024 16:43

Why is that, @Polishedshoesalways - why all the bullying of Kate?
KP said what was needed. That's all.
It's strange that the woman who is ill, and the woman targeted by the likes of Scobie, gets online criticism and unpleasant rumour.

They were perfectly entitled to prioritise Catherine and the children's wellbeing above public prurience. Given that she was entitled to have time to recover physically as well as to take in and begin to deal with the diagnosis, and also that the children needed time to come to terms with it, they could hardly do an early announcement in the same way as the King did.

That is called the outcome of an information vacuum, it is well documented in other disasters such as airlines going missing. People generally can not bear uncertainty.

That’s not it , it’s Bitchness , plain and simple . Have a look at X , go to verified accounts like Bouzy, and read the posts from Deranged Fans of Harry and Meghan spreading even more rumours , that’s not Kate, that’s an AI, karma is Bitch, she’s lying, x y z had cancer and that’s not how cancer is treated ,I work at a hospital she’s lying she doesn’t have cancer, where is William in all of this? Why isn’t he next to her supporting her? Is he with his mistress? If only they showed Meghan and Harry some of this outpouring support .

Polishedshoesalways · 23/03/2024 16:45

I don’t want to add anything else. I can’t be part of this anymore. I think they need to left in peace.

SilkFloss · 23/03/2024 16:45

I can't believe that people are still banging on about having been "deceived" or "misled" or "lied to" over that bloody photo!!
Get over it, ffs. It was a photo that was tarted up. It's not the first time someone's done that and definitely won't be the last. Name me a "sleb" on the planet who hasn't and if you believe that, you need to wise up.

You forgot trust issues…

crumblingschools · 23/03/2024 16:46

@Polishedshoesalways when would you have liked that information, before their young children had got used to the idea that mummy was very sick? Do you think you are more important than them?

Charles had a routine procedure done, which wasn’t going to keep him out of the public eye for ages. Then they found out he had cancer and was going to have to reduce his appointments so had to break the news.

We had already been told Kate wasn’t going he to be seen for some time so why did we need to be told anything until Kate was ready?

Zyq · 23/03/2024 16:46

This is, with every respect, absolute nonsense. Given that your idea of following the King's strategy is obviously a non-starter, what do you say they should have done?

Now come on. This is the first time in the history of photography and the media that a slightly tarted up and enhanced photo with a few alterations and brushings out has ever been used. The outrage is understandable.

The princess is having further treatment following her surgery, she is recovering as expected, the Princess of Wales will make a statement at Easter with an update.
Catherine would like to personally thank her well wishers for their incredible support, they have been touched beyond words by your kindness.

Which would only have invited more speculation and gossip.

"further treatment? That must be a cover up and mean divorce"
"I bet her face-lift went wrong:
"Further treatment is because she's had a breakdown because of his affair"
And on and on and on.

Like fuck would a statement like that have done anything to stop people being absolute twats.

Nothing they could have said or done differently would have changed the situation.
