Even now there are vile posters wallowing in the Catherine news. Please don’t give them an outlet.

I can only imagine the mental fortitude that broadcast took and to not break down. Not only telling the world, but that they now have to tell their children. I kept mine on a 'strictly need to know' basis (especially at work) because I couldn't face the questions and the prying and the 'ooh, this worked for my mate, have you tried this?'

If you were listening carefully she said she needed time to her children and she has now done that and also she is recovering and doing well. She isn't breaking the news whilst her children don't know.

martellotower · 23/03/2024 09:17

The demand is generated by the desire for money - inflating gossip , creating wild conspiracy theories, selling newspapers, getting clicks = money.
MN Is an example.
It really isn't a case of baying mobs of individuals, real people issuing demands. (would that such power could be exerted by public opinion )
So many on here using the subject as a vehicle to display how righteous they are.

PeachDreamer · 23/03/2024 09:19

So a threat attacking Meghan and Harry gets deleted but all those threats attacking Kate and accusing William of god knows what can stay up, interesting.

You know the posts on social media are by people for the most part. Yes you can have a farm of russian bots spread the rumours but they originate with people. Same with the press, the editors are instructing their journalists what stories to write. Yes some of it’s for money but lots of its is because bored, not very clever people like a good gossip.

Exactly. Also, she that she has the best possible medical care and is on a course of preventative chemo - she doesn't have cancer.

Oh well that’s alright then isn’t it. She should be up and out on Monday morning.

bentle · 23/03/2024 09:35

Finding cancerous tissue isn't great but it seems that the only two words people on these threads have heard are cancer and chemotherapy, which skews the actual situation.

martellotower · 23/03/2024 09:37

@MrsDanversGlidesAgain the POW Has made A statement , yes recorded and broadcast, hard but given her experience, training and support , not comparable to you or I doing the same. Now She can seclude herself and concentrate on getting better.

I bet many with cancer , myself included, would have loved to be able to do that.

She has challenges (in the news as a member of RF ) and privileges ( money ,power ,resources ) as do we ( not newsworthy ) but have to go to work ,face colleagues ,only afford a crappy unrealistic ,itchy wig ,worry about money ,not much support for kids facing important exams etc etc

martellotower · 23/03/2024 09:41

Hear we go again ,someone points out a highly relevant fact and it's immediately treated as though they're spewing vitriol and hounding the POW .
Is it not possible to have a more nuanced and sensible discussion ?

myrtleWilson · 23/03/2024 09:44

LittleGlowingOblong · 23/03/2024 09:07

My only point was that your analogy seemed rather moronic.

I’ve never sought to know about the POW’s cancer. My own mother died of bladder cancer and I know very well how awful that was.

You may not have sought to know about her cancer but that didn't preclude you adding to gossip and disinformation including the "28th December" tweet, the photoshopping of Kate in the car, and just in last day or so, you heroically reviewed footage of the PPOW engagements at the end of last year to then solemnly pronounce that their relationship had ended/broken down. You were more than happy to add to the social media trash and rumour...

Edited

So what is the actual situation? She has cancer, we don't know much more because it's none of our business but she has cancer and chemotherapy, those are the facts, not something that can be skewed.

Sadly not
Let's shut all conversation down because it may be disrespectful to some young woman somewhere

MrsSkylerWhite · 23/03/2024 09:49

Hear, hear.

I think they think the cancerous tissue has hopefully been removed when she had the operation.

However, she has clearly been unwell with cancer, is having chemo and that is because there is a risk of it returning. She won’t be well with the chemo.

FrancisSeaton · 23/03/2024 09:50

Does anyone think though it's less about the conspiracies and more that they don't want the information to be leaked especially after the discovery of unauthorised access of her medical records?

This is true. Life is hard for pretty much everybody at times and the fact that the PoW has struggles unique to her situation doesn’t detract from the significant struggles of others.

I guess what it all comes down to is why not just be kind? I know that isn’t very edgy.

martellotower · 23/03/2024 09:57

surely that's what we're all doing here - gossiping?

Great post , beautifully expressed.@Calliopespa

spidermonkeys · 23/03/2024 10:05

Agreed. It's awful.
If you are not able to do this, maybe a specific Kate section so the rest of us can hide it!

Depends on the gossip. Malicious untrue rumours that hurt people isn’t gossip.

We have to assume the actual situation is the one Kate outlined in the video. That some cancerous tissue had been found post op and that preventative chemo has been recommended to clear up any rogue cells which may possibly still be present.

Ocadoshoppingjustarrived · 23/03/2024 10:21

As usual, there are many, many more posts finger wagging at people being awful than there are people being awful. It happens every time.
To the pp who asked if it was possible to have a sensible discussion - no.

Ocadoshoppingjustarrived · 23/03/2024 10:26

I have looked at as many of these posts as I have time for, and I can't see anything to justify the hyperbole and hysteria.
The PoW has/had cancer. That does not mean it's unreasonable to raise inequalities in health care and/or her recovery set-up with no work childcare or money worries.
Saying the practicalities are easier for her than most people does not translate into 'I am pleased the PoW has cancer'

Sadly yes I think they had to come out because of the medical information being accessed.

SpringSprungALeak · 23/03/2024 10:45

Sashamalia · 22/03/2024 19:06

I feel really sad for her.

Cancer is such an awful thing. I just witnessed a close family member go through it for months

@Sashamalia

she says she feels well & is very positive.

A friend of mine has been through a similar situation, she too went in for a 'routine' operation and afterwards received a cancer diagnosis and is having chemo.

she was expecting to feel dreadful & lose her beautiful hair but she hasn't. She is still feeling really really well & looks great, no hair loss at all. She's 6 weeks into the 'preventative' chemo.

so let's hope that Catherine is the same. Time for positive thoughts!!

I know it's anecdotal and others will have different experiences, but no harm in hoping for the best!!
