Even now there are vile posters wallowing in the Catherine news. Please don’t give them an outlet.

OP posts:
PyongyangKipperbang · 22/03/2024 20:49

I think that the problem is that a lot of people think (rightly or wrongly) that they have a right to information and to discuss it as they "own" the RF.

I have heard more than once, about different things to do with them "Well we pay for them so we have a right to know". They forget that they are also human beings not just things to be gawped at. I think it was always a bit like that, the gossip around the abdication and the vile things said about Mrs Simpson are very similar to what is being said by some about MM, it just wasnt as overt as the papers were very "doffing the cap M'Lord". But the advent of the internet and the need to know NOW and to know every last little details of someones private life, has definitely made it worse.

She's hardly on mumsnet reading these posts.

I really hope she isn’t. But how do you know? The thing is. You don’t.

MeinKraft · 22/03/2024 20:53

There have been 192k posts referencing 'Kate Middleton' alone on Twitter and rolling news coverage of this one issue on all the news channels. It'll be on the front page of all the papers over the weekend. I don't think a handful of mumsnet threads even amount to a drop in the ocean.

SpringtimeBunny · 22/03/2024 20:55

Millionth-ed

Fumblebug · 22/03/2024 20:56

Fixerupper77 · 22/03/2024 20:25

Why? Tney didn’t give her cancer.

This pitchfork finger pointing is almost as tiresome as the gossiping itself.

everyone needs to just shut the fuck up.

Spectacularly missing the point.

Yirk · 22/03/2024 20:58

Take them down please.

LadyWiddiothethird · 22/03/2024 20:59

There are at least 15 threads about the Duchess of Cambridge on here, bloody ridiculous.Come on MN moderators pull the lot of them.

JamSandle · 22/03/2024 21:05

Agree. Please listen.

Jazzandblues · 22/03/2024 21:10

Can't help but remember when Meghan discussed her miscarriage and nearly committing suicide there were threads and threads. Selective kindness.

WhenWillItAllGetBetter · 22/03/2024 20:49

I don’t really understand your message.

People are interested in the royal family, this is major royal family news and obviously has been for week.
If people stop being interested in them then the institution will fall. They are not better than us, but they do need us to gossip about them

I mean when you’re in the RF you are probably told that there are a lot of nasty people out there so buckle up.

Mylovelygreendress · 22/03/2024 21:19

Agree OP . I actually feel queasy reading these threads . I was diagnosed with cancer , had surgery and treatment and am ( hopefully) ok now :
Telling my DGC and DGC was awful but I am not in the public eye .
Back off . And as for Scobie with his alarm clock post on Twitter - words fail me.

MaturingCheeseball · 22/03/2024 21:21

I do feel that the news management by Kensington Palace has been utterly abysmal, and has fostered this speculation, but I agree: best to take it all down now, please, @MNHQ

Edited

Well it was spot on today - and I suspect they knew today was coming, when the children finished school. It was both watertight and moving not to mention extremely dignified.

But yes MN: please pull all the threads of totally redundant gossip and conjecture.

SurelySmartie · 22/03/2024 21:24

Yes awful.

FrancisSeaton · 22/03/2024 21:40

Honestly what I've seen on here is lukewarm compared to the stuff still being posted on Twitter insisting this is a lie to cover something else up

dandeliondandy · 22/03/2024 22:02

WhenWillItAllGetBetter · 22/03/2024 20:27

this is the upshot of marrying into the most famous family in the world.
Of course it’s very worrying/ sad that a young woman has cancer and she has my every sympathy.
But if you become part of the royal family of course people are going to talk about you/ be interested in every aspect of you. The alternative is no interest in the royal family = no royal family. I know which I’d prefer.

A lot more people could do with your concern

Agree with this. When one is as high profile a person as Kate, the speculation and gossip goes with the territory and I doubt that she reads it. It may not be tasteful but it is what happens.

Abouttimeforanamechange · 22/03/2024 22:04

Twitter doesn't claim to be a site supporting parents.

'Well so-and-so does it' didn't work as an excuse when I was primary school age.

We don't all need to sink to the lowest level.

FrancisSeaton · 22/03/2024 22:06

@Abouttimeforanamechange eh? Where did you get that from my post?

PuppyPlus · 22/03/2024 22:11

💯👏👏👏

These threads (the whole RF forum) are in extremely poor taste and disgustingly misogynistic.

The Nicola bully threads got pulled and speculation about such cases is no longer allowed on MN, rightly so.

Now do the same about posters nastily gossiping and badmouthing a fellow mum who is experiencing a very difficult life situation. Protect her and her dc.

And keep a level of human decency on these boards.

Abouttimeforanamechange · 22/03/2024 22:11

Where did you get that from my post?

Where did I get what? I quoted what you said.

GreekDogRescue · 22/03/2024 21:04

Mumsnet police 👮‍♀️ have arrived

What an amazing post.Exactly what is your point?

This is not Twitter,do we need to stoop as low as that, you obviously do,so perhaps you would do better on there.

Jellykat · 22/03/2024 22:18

100% backing this, some of the posts ive read are sickening.

FrancisSeaton · 22/03/2024 22:20

@Abouttimeforanamechange implying I supported it?
