Even now there are vile posters wallowing in the Catherine news. Please don’t give them an outlet.

OP posts:

Agreed.

I reported one thread earlier where the OP seemed to want to discuss NHS V private care, not in a good way. The thread is still there ( or was when I last looked.)

I think all these threads of P of W should be zapped.

Hollyhead · 22/03/2024 22:24

I abhor the spirit of the gossip and the gossip threads, but unless people say something illegal or a proven lie, then the threads should absolutely be allowed to stand. I’ve just finished reading a book about communist China, I’m now completely against any form of censorship.

TinkerbellsAssistant · 22/03/2024 22:25

Sadly, MN will leave it as they drive people to the site and see the adverts that generate income for MN.

LittleGlowingOblong · 22/03/2024 18:39

I do feel that the news management by Kensington Palace has been utterly abysmal, and has fostered this speculation, but I agree: best to take it all down now, please, @MNHQ

Edited

Are you hard of feeling? Why are you entitled to know the situation regarding the Princess of Wales? Find your heart and know that you are not important to her, but her children and immediate family are and she was trying to protect them for as long as possible, to summon strength to stay strong for her children whilst dealing with her diagnosis. No one is immune to cancer, and the very least we can do is act with humility and respect, never speculate and simply understand our place

Candyfloss99 · 22/03/2024 22:25

This is what gives this website such a bad name.

I completely disagree. People are allowed to talk about someone's illness.

Talk yes, but what happened on those threads was just vile!

You can't compare the CCP and the things posted here about a sick woman.

That's just ridiculous.

Some things that are in bad taste and 'against the spirit of a parenting site mainly for women' do need censoring.

RogueFemale · 22/03/2024 22:27

Do not pull any threads.

The Royals are part funded by public money. The Royals also work closely with the media (including gutter press such as the Mail) to promote themselves. It is inevitable and reasonable that the public speculates, especially given the drip feed of this particular episode, including the doctored photo.

It's a bed they have made and they're lying in it.

IAmThe1AndOnly · 22/03/2024 18:54

The threads which need to be pulled are the ones which led up to these ones.

It would seem a bit hypocritical to allow all the hideous vile speculation threads stand and then to delete the ones which for the most part are at least supportive

The vile speculative threads need pulling, and the posters who were practically salivating over them (we all know who they are), should be banned.

Absolutely agree, the threads that should be pulled are the horrendous ones prior to Kate’s statement, at least the threads since her announcement are (in the main) supportive of the Princess so I think they should stay up.

Oh so in your moral world it all comes down to money.

Abhorrent.

That is the morality of the royal family, yes. They take the money, they're cosy with the gutter press to ensure good PR.

MrsMitford3 · 22/03/2024 22:31

I have just posted the same on another thread @MaturingCheeseball

TwistedCable · 22/03/2024 22:32

By their very existence they are public property. If they don’t want discussion they should abdicate

LittleGlowingOblong · 22/03/2024 22:33

Where did I say I was entitled to know the situation regarding the Princess of Wales?

I know very well that neither you nor I mean anything to her; but don’t you agree that KP were unwise to have allowed such an information vacuum to persist after they released a fake photo? Omg, they even threw Kate under a bus for it, as if a royal undergoing chemo was up late at night downloading the latest version of photoshop. It’s not a black or white situation.

I’ve never sought to know the details of the POW’s health condition; but I have been puzzled by the photo of her in a 5-wheeled car; and the BBC reporting on the video of “the Princess of Wales” where she’s virtually skipping down the path with a shopping bag in her hand.

Helpisso · 22/03/2024 22:34

Sadly the vultures posted within minutes of the news, agree that MN should delete the threads .

Cancer aside for a moment; this is truth.

She's hardly on mumsnet reading these posts.

She’s probably more likely to be reading mumsnet than any other social media. Rumour was she had an account so it’s not beyond the realms of possibility that she may see these threads.

Imamumgetmeoutofhere · 22/03/2024 22:37

Please take the Kate posts down Mumsnet. The poor women is a wife and mother. She has been vilified into disclosing private and distressing information and deserves some respect now

Arryhewittblewit · 22/03/2024 22:37

Agreed

Hollyhead · 22/03/2024 22:38

@TinkerbellsAssistant of course they’re not the same, but I think the principle stands. how do you decide what is and isn’t ok though? What if the person deciding is wrong? I just think let things stand and see people for who they are. There haven’t been that many abhorrent posts, mainly inquisitive ones wondering what’s going on, which is human nature to wonder.

DoIdriveaVauxhallZafira · 22/03/2024 22:39

Does this thread all the rubber-neckers on this board are feeling ashamed? Because I bloody hope so.

DaBlackCatsAreDaBestCats · 22/03/2024 22:40

Freedom to discuss in a civilised way should be allowed

Firecarrier · 22/03/2024 22:40

So was the photo real then?

TwistedCable · 22/03/2024 22:32

No human being should ever be referred to as property and everyone is entitled to privacy and respect, even people you dislike or disapprove of.

The video of Kate was shown twice tonight on the BBC news at 6, both times they said it was a video of Kate and William, so it was them. It’s available on iPlayer if you want confirmation.
