You can be the world's biggest Harry and Meghan supporter while still admitting that the timing of this wasn't the best.
We can all debate the reason for the timing of the launch, but to try and defend it as perfectly reasonable is just disingenuous.
Harry and Meghan have a long track history of announcing news/launching just as the Royal Family are in the news for an event. At first I thought it was just coincidental, but it's happened so many times over the years it really does seem like a deliberate ploy.
Obviously the reasons they have chosen to do all this are pure speculation as none of us know. But the fact remains, there seems to be an extraordinary number of announcements from the Sussex camp just when someone else in the RF might be about to take the spotlight. Clever marketing or spiteful? Depends on your view I guess.
However, I think whichever side of the H & M debate you sit, surely no one genuinely thinks that a big launch like this was OK to do at the same time as the legacy awards? The launch was always going to be bigger news and was always going to upstage the awards - why on earth would you do this? The optics are awful.
I can't understand how anyone can defend this. The very best I can say is that it was thoughtless.
Also worth pointing out that the release seems to have been rushed. The trademarks haven't gone through yet and were only registered in February. That's not usually the case for H & M. It feels rushed out so they could announce it on a Thursday evening. Ah yes, that popular day and time slot for big news announcements....
And for reference, while I'm a RF supporter, I'm very happy to say when they get things wrong. Supporting someone doesn't mean you have to condone/agree with everything they do - but that never seems to be the case with H & M fans. Trying to defend the timing of this launch is unbelievable.
