Harry and Meghan are so petty and bitter

They knew that announcing Meghan's new venture would be big news. So they dropped it 45 minutes before William was due to speak yesterday evening. At an awards ceremony dedicated to harry and William's mother's memory.

But that wasn't good enough. Oh no. They then announced the winner of their own awards. While the Diana awards were still going on and Prince William was handing out prizes.

Is there no level this petty, bitter couple won't sink to?!

Oh no, someone is going to create an emotional drawing of Paddington with a single tear in his eye ( holding a pot of marmalade)

MarmaladeMarkle · 15/03/2024 16:35

Another bloody marketing trick she could have used. She’ll have me on her books at this rate

Charlingspont · 15/03/2024 16:38

It's not petty, as such, because I don't think the motivation behind the timing was to upset William's applecart - I think the motivation was to ride on the publicity of the Diana awards to get more publicity for their own launch.

SecretSoul · 15/03/2024 16:41

You can be the world's biggest Harry and Meghan supporter while still admitting that the timing of this wasn't the best.

We can all debate the reason for the timing of the launch, but to try and defend it as perfectly reasonable is just disingenuous.

Harry and Meghan have a long track history of announcing news/launching just as the Royal Family are in the news for an event. At first I thought it was just coincidental, but it's happened so many times over the years it really does seem like a deliberate ploy.

Obviously the reasons they have chosen to do all this are pure speculation as none of us know. But the fact remains, there seems to be an extraordinary number of announcements from the Sussex camp just when someone else in the RF might be about to take the spotlight. Clever marketing or spiteful? Depends on your view I guess.

However, I think whichever side of the H & M debate you sit, surely no one genuinely thinks that a big launch like this was OK to do at the same time as the legacy awards? The launch was always going to be bigger news and was always going to upstage the awards - why on earth would you do this? The optics are awful.

I can't understand how anyone can defend this. The very best I can say is that it was thoughtless.

Also worth pointing out that the release seems to have been rushed. The trademarks haven't gone through yet and were only registered in February. That's not usually the case for H & M. It feels rushed out so they could announce it on a Thursday evening. Ah yes, that popular day and time slot for big news announcements....

And for reference, while I'm a RF supporter, I'm very happy to say when they get things wrong. Supporting someone doesn't mean you have to condone/agree with everything they do - but that never seems to be the case with H & M fans. Trying to defend the timing of this launch is unbelievable.

I just hope QE2/The King/Diana aren't too angry/upset/saddened/sickened by this event/action/story. In all of this, its Paddington Bear
😁

People were begging her to do something to take the heat off Kate. She has now done it. So be happy.

Like who ?

I'd have had so much more respect for them had they ditched their titles and made their own way. But nope, they're insistent on trashing the family they left, whilst making sure that everyone knows they're still Royal.

It would be quite funny if it wasn't so pathetic.

IsoldeWagner · 15/03/2024 17:18

I love that merchandise, @Allaboutthegrift . Can I place an order? 😂

ginasevern · 15/03/2024 17:19

It's all quite amusing. The press have turned everyone's hatred towards the unspeakable H & M. It's the oldest establishment trick in the book. Whilst we're wringing our hands about these two baby eating traitors our attention is deflected from the actual elephant in the room. It's hard to believe it still works in this day and age really.

Allaboutthegrift · 15/03/2024 17:19

Absolutely @IsoldeWagner

I do require to be called Ma’am in all correspondence though. 😏

Allaboutthegrift · 15/03/2024 17:21

I can’t remember them eating babies gina.

Recollections do indeed vary.

IsoldeWagner · 15/03/2024 17:22

Will you be in a ball gown?
I hope so. I thought the Sussex website was funny, but this is brilliant. The golden calligraphy, the ball gown, the prominent title! 😂

No, the press haven't got round to that story yet. Give it time though ........

MarmaladeMarkle · 15/03/2024 17:25

‘Jelly’ babies I hope!

Salemforcuddles · 15/03/2024 17:28

@MarmaladeMarkle @Allaboutthegrift You two have really given me a laugh 🤣🤣

IsoldeWagner · 15/03/2024 17:29

I'm disappointed her Coat of Arms isn't on the site, though, unlike the Sussex website. Do you think it'll be on the merchandise? I hope so. Plus, will it be for sale in Waitrose? I'm not going to lower myself to shop in Tesco.

"Traitors" is a good word. Well spotted @ginasevern

Not much distraction from any elephants though, realistically. Those two lunatics are perpetually scurrying around making sure they are in the news all the time. Plus ça change!

seafronty · 15/03/2024 17:31

My level of anger and rage about this story is only matched by level of utter disinterest about any aspect of the Royal Family. Its a tricky path to thread but I'm doing it.

IsoldeWagner · 15/03/2024 17:31

@Allaboutthegrift - can I ask a question about the products? Does the nob cream smell like Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour cream, perchance?
