I don't actually want any details about whatever it is that has caused Catherine to take extended sickness absence.
What I object to is being taken for a mug.
The photo released on Mother's Day was heavily doctored. Not just tidied up a bit with a few edits but so heavily doctored that the kill notice was issued. It was a photo directly issued by KP so in essence holds the same weight in news terms as any formal Palace announcement or broadcast. This could have been rectified by KP releasing the original to the relevant news agencies (not for publication or for public perusal, simply to establish the edited image was a true representation of events) The fact that this was not done raises the question of why as it would have fixed a lot of the public distrust. I'd go so far as to say that the public in general (save a few conspiracy theorists) were a bit miffed at not seeing Catherine for months on end but would accept the excuse of ill health with grumbling grace.
The so called story of her at the farm shop raises it's own secondary set of questions. If she is well enough to go out and be seen in public, why couldn't she have recorded a brief 30! second video wishing the Irish Guards well? She's their Colonel FFS. Again, I think most people would accept she wasn't fully well enough to attend but if she's okay enough to go out in public, nip to a local shop and spend the morning "watching the children play sports" then she should have been able to record a very brief video. This would have gone a long way to not only restoring public faith and good feelings, but would have shut up the wild conspiracists. Perception of this from what I've seen is that either a) The farm shop visit never happened or b) she's too workshy to bother with a phased return which may include very short videos or staged photos in the vein of well wishes to the Irish Guard. Either way it's fucking terrible PR and no matter which side of the coin you fall on it looks like they're taking the piss.
Thirdly (and this is the one that is boiling my head a bit because I really don't want to start going down the conspiracy rabbit holes) why isn't there a single photo of her attending this farm shop. On a normal day you would expect the odd member of the public to have grabbed a sneaky snap with a mobile phone. In today's current state to play with hashtags such as #katespiricy and #whereskate trending you know damn well that SOMEONE would have got a snap, even if it was dreadfully out of focus. The UK media may not have published it but you could have sold it for a fair whack to a fair few international agencies, not to mention the speed at which it would go viral. Unfortunately this makes me really doubt the story.
Plus there'd be the second cousin on the brother of the shopkeepers wife (or something equally tenuous) speaking to the papers about seeing her. The fact they cannot trace a single named source to confirm the appearance simply adds fuel to the theory of it never happening.
Even if the story about going to the farm shop IS true, the fact that it is disbelieved by so many is a mark of how little trust is now held by W&C (and maybe the wider Royals by association) The AP do not issue kill notices lightly, not was the statement from the AFP stating that KP is no longer a trusted source to be taken lightly.
To anyone that says "oh she's allowed out even on sick leave" I don't disagree. What bothers me is that if this is the case the W&C KNOW the furore surrounding her not being seen and are frankly acting like they don't give a shit. When they live a life of luxury and privilege funded by the British public and do very little in return (W&C are one of the lowest performing Royals in terms of engagements etc) then of course it's going to feel like a piss take.
