Spanish press reporting Kate was extremely ill

I don’t know how credible this is because I saw it on Twitter…

But apparently the media in Spain have reported that Catherine’s surgery was not actually planned, did not go smoothly and she was actually very sick/possibly in a coma for a period of time. And there has been a press blackout in the UK.

Could there be any truth in this? I’m struggling to see WHY something like that would be ‘hidden’ anyway 🤔

All I can say is that from my ex palace contact I heard that she had surgery to separate gynae organs from colon. I asked if that included hysterectomy as I don’t know of doing that but he didn’t know.

Is 'ex palace contact' the royal forums equivalent to the 'DH who is high up in the NHS' on the Coronavirus forums?

Can't Mumsnet just kill these Kate threads. I thought they were all about protecting women rather than making them click bait. Kate is first a woman, mum. Not advertising fodder.

Totally agree with this. Just a question: did you make a similar public stand when there were multiple threads bullying Meghan? She’s also a woman and a mum first.

CwmYoy · 13/03/2024 12:26

Some really unpleasant and very nosy people on MN.

Leave the poor woman alone.

None of your fucking business.

The conspiracy theories have only taken off the the extent we've seen in the last couple of days because they put out the faked photo. Of course people are going to speculate when they know they've been lied to. Why would you want to be part of a population that doesn't question public figures lying?

I have a huge sympathy for Kate, and her health issues should be private, but this whole situation has been created by spectacular mishandling. Don't blame a public who rightly want to know why/what they're being lied to about. They should, it's important that they do.

I assume you have never touched up a photo before putting it on your social media feed.

Half the people on my facebook I wouldn't recognise if I walked past them as they look nothing like their social media photos

I'm no royalist at all but what makes me snigger are the comments on royal threads from posters crying 'leave her alone!' 'Is there something in the water?' 'Who cares?'

Just scroll on by you daft things.

What, and leave the thread to the people dredging stories out of the sewer and gloating over them? there's got to be some decency around here.

LoreleiG · 13/03/2024 12:29

If she has been seriously ill that would presumably go hand in hand with having major surgery, which we know. All the more reason to leave the poor woman alone, no?

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 13/03/2024 12:30

skippy67 · 13/03/2024 12:18

Yeah, bloody foreign press and their made up stories. You never see that sort of thing in The Great British Press...

Not following the logic here. We're talking about the Spanish press. No-one's claiming the British press has a moral high ground.

Runnerinthenight · 13/03/2024 12:31

It's abundantly clear why she chose to maintain a level of privacy.

Nobody could have anticipated just how frenzied the speculation would get!

Yep that was pretty disgusting too. I didn't go down those rabbit holes very often.

We're all women, partners, mothers. You'd think on here we'd be supportive of each other. That's why Justine set up Mumsnet isn't it?

Almostwelsh · 13/03/2024 12:34

I can see why they haven't said exactly what she's had done. Apart from the obvious privacy concerns, if the public knew she'd had a specific operation, people would be all over the media saying "most people with xxx are better after 6 weeks" and branding her a lazy so and so. But there is massive variability in the severity of surgeries, even for the same issue and in people's recovery time.

Plus she not only has to be feeling better, but looking on top form or the press will pull her to bits. So if she's gained or lost weight or is looking tired she won't want to be seen in public and I don't blame her.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 13/03/2024 12:34

NGL the casual racism I've seen from various posters implying that the Spanish media don't know what they're doing because they're Spanish, is next level

European press makes stuff up about the royals all the time and has done for years. It amused the late queen no end, the stories published about her. And no-one's said 'they don't know what they're doing.' They know what they're doing all right - publishing made up crap to drive people to their sites or buy their papers.

Absolutely, everyone on the internet is a friend of Elvis.

Use the word you're accusing me of, please. I know exactly what you're doing, as well. Don't even try it.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 13/03/2024 12:40

14 threads on a mumsnetter !!!

Yes and that's just the ones with "Kate" in the wording, @justasking111
God knows how many there are in total now, but "Where is she?" "The photo" and so on won't appear in those results

Still, I guess the advertisers are pleased ...

OK, I've reported your post and asked MN to decide about my comments and your accusation.

@YesIwillyesIwillYes

At no point have they stated what surgery she had so how can you say the normal recovery time is.

OnlyLoveCanBreakYourHeart · 13/03/2024 12:52

The King can talk about his saggy prostate but royal women have to suffer silently and just get on with looking the part.
Kate could talk about it if she wanted to but she clearly doesn't. Just because the King has chosen to doesn't mean she should. She is allowed her own agency.

Yes I heard this a few weeks ago and that the Spanish reporters source was Thomas Kingston, close confidant of Pippa…If you look on reddit there are tons of theories…

The main issue is KP seems to be making things worse with the edited & vague photos, it seems to be attracting people wanting to “save” Kate hence the car crash into Buckingham Palace on Saturday & the car crash into Windsor Castle yesterday…the police stated they were not terrorist offences, so quite a coincidence, the timing of them adds to all the oddities surrounding the royals at the moment.
KP would’ve been best to not release any photo in my opinion.

If it was a media blackout a. KP would know what was going on which they don’t according to Private Eye and b. My BBC news friends would know and they don’t have a scoobies.
