Spanish press reporting Kate was extremely ill

I don’t know how credible this is because I saw it on Twitter…

But apparently the media in Spain have reported that Catherine’s surgery was not actually planned, did not go smoothly and she was actually very sick/possibly in a coma for a period of time. And there has been a press blackout in the UK.

Could there be any truth in this? I’m struggling to see WHY something like that would be ‘hidden’ anyway 🤔

I read on here Private eye was reporting that she gone in for small surgery and there was a a week gap or so in her scheduled to recover where she wouldn't be missed and something happened -to make it a much bigger deal with longer recovery time. These things do happen - happened to family happened to King in a way.

So less hidden more private medical information person involved and family want to keep private - always understandable but even more so if it's unexpected and need to be come to terms with.

I do think they've been baldy served by their PR people - but the coverage is completely batshit - it's not even Easter yet when they announced at start she'd be back. It does feel like media hounding.

@ChVrches no worries, I do the same often enough!

@SnakesAndArrows you know full well I meant evidence of my reasoning, not evidence of the surgery itself.

Evidence of your reasoning about what? Do you mean that because prolapse surgery recovery can be lengthy, this means that it’s most likely that Catherine has had prolapse surgery?

Wintersgirl · 13/03/2024 11:34

Some vultures would only be satisfied with a surgical video, grey's anatomy style with commentary

The unhinged mob would even insist that was faked.......no matter what she says or does about this going forward the poor woman won't be able to do right for wrong.

BigWillyLittleTodger · 13/03/2024 11:39

I’m also feeling sorry for the children in all of this, George in particular is old enough to see how his mum is being treated on the world stage, these early encounters with how the media treated Diana shaped William and Harry’s distrust of the press and has affected them all their lives, yet here we are, again.

Not blaming Charles at all but I think his transparency is also a huge reason as to why this Kate story got so big.

We don't know a lot about his cancer. We don't even know what type of cancer he has but he's kept the public updated. He shared photos, we saw him on engagements recently.

People probably thought that if Charles, who's battling cancer, is being visible, then why isn't Kate? Her condition might be worse than we realise.

Because he’s the KING. Also the nature of her operation might be quite sensitive . I know I wouldn’t want my personal medical details pored over
in the media across the world. Poor woman.

YesIwillyesIwillYes · 13/03/2024 11:55

My sister had two abdominal surgeries, both planned and neither for cancer. She was in hospital for more than a month and she was very ill indeed. She didn’t spend her time messing about on Photoshop trying to pretend everything was fine. But then she’s not a Princess who has to pretend to be some sort of beautiful machine. It’s not at all helpful to women to sponsor this nonsense.

The King can talk about his saggy prostate but royal women have to suffer silently and just get on with looking the part.

StarsHideYourFir3s · 13/03/2024 11:55

We should stick to the facts. We know - she looked very unwell in the car photo. The Mother's Day picture was altered and may not be recent. Her face was turned away in the Commonwealth car photo. She hasn't done a thank you video like Charles did. She wasn't photographed coming in or out of hospital. Gary Goldsmith said, "If it is announced I will give you my opinion." What is "it" and why does it need an opinion? The Spanish reporter has written a book alleging Diana was killed, so she is biased against the BRF. She did break the Danish king's (?) affair before it was acknowledged properly, so she MAY have some kind of source, but that source is probably not privy to Kate's health.

Nsisyagwv · 13/03/2024 11:59

Guys chill out, she's obviously a contestant on the masked singer

TonTonMacoute · 13/03/2024 11:59

Could there be any truth in this?

No.

Lovely pictures and stories of the Princess of Wales sells newspapers. If she's taking time off to recover from surgery? Well let's just make up a whole load of shit about her to keep the proles happy!

I hope she's at home having a good laugh at these hysterical outpourings.

CantDealwithChristmas · 13/03/2024 12:00

Private Eye, new issue out today, choses this story as its cover and the lead article. Private Eye reports that Buckingham Palace is very upset about KP's "clumsy effort to close down speculation on Kate's health" (ie with the doctored photo".

And adds a slightly alarming piece of new info:

""William's court is far more secretive [than Buck Palace]. Believeing that one very staged photo will appease the people is old-style royalty that doesn't work now. Even if the veracity of the photo weren't queried, it wouldn't stop the rumour mill for long these days. The prospect, long touted, of a new-style monarchy under William seems like a mirage. Hosts on his rare public engagements are asked not to mention Kate. And the truth is that no one except a close circle - and one lucky paparazzo - has since Kate since she left hospital, so the true state of her health remains a mystery."

Very well said, except that MN presumably needs the clicks too?

I've seen warnings about "speculation not welcome" before now and even threads deleted for it, and yet still thread after thread on this is allowed to run, so the clicks thing seems the only realistic explanation

It's a shabby business model then @Puzzledandpissedoff 😟

moreminieggsplease · 13/03/2024 12:04

This is just another case of believe whatever you feel like believing because you've seen it on the internet.

I'm in a group on Facebook for Bravo TV fans/gossip. A woman on there said her sister is friends with a surgeon or something at the hospital Kate (can't remember the exact tenuous connections) was at and that really, she has Crohn's disease and was having some sort of major bowel surgery. Is it plausible? Possibly. Is it true? Probably not.

My point is, it's all Chinese whispers. A woman I've never met is on a gossip page for American reality shows professing to total strangers that she knows for a fact what's going on because her mate said this. Blah blah. Media is no different, how many stories do you think get reported every year that turn out to be utter bollocks.

we've been told what we've been told and may never get told anything else. And we don't deserve to be. Why so many people are wasting so much breath on this is beyond me.

Part of the statement said they wanted as much normality for her children as possible.

People need to bear that in mind. Can you imagine reading some of the stuff being written about her if you were a child and it was your mum? She's a human being with young children

Mirabai · 13/03/2024 12:11

All I can say is that from my ex palace contact I heard that she had surgery to separate gynae organs from colon. I asked if that included hysterectomy as I don’t know of doing that but he didn’t know.

Mummyoflittledragon · 13/03/2024 12:14

YesIwillyesIwillYes · 13/03/2024 10:12

Lots of people endure uterine repair surgery and hysterectomy. They don’t go into hiding for 3 months. A good friend of mine had a uterine repair and she was back at work within a fortnight. Kate’s jobs are turning up somewhere staying a short time then leaving again. There’s no heavy lifting, or eight hours on her feet.

Her time off seems a bit tone deaf.

Tone deaf?!

It took me 5 months to feel anything like proper strength return to me. I didn’t have a little, straightforward hysterectomy. There are degrees and mine was the largest there is. The gynaecologist told me it would take longer to get well from than open heart surgery.

Just because you know one person, who had a hysterectomy, you know one person, who had a hysterectomy.

How were these performed? Vagjnally, key hole, c section or lateral cut. Mine was lateral and an eight inch cut, now extended to 12 with mesh after a couple of hernia repairs plus endo removal and so forth. A uterine repair vaginally isn’t major surgery.

Shesmyhero · 13/03/2024 12:17

Can we all just hope and pray she is OK and send her good wishes? Can you imagine being ill and having to consider do I need to put out a press release because the public is going crazy with speculation about me.
Maybe we should just have a thread where everyone wishes her well - without speculating about her private health matters.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 13/03/2024 10:16

Spanish press, right. I bet that's not made up at ALL.

Yeah, bloody foreign press and their made up stories. You never see that sort of thing in The Great British Press...

2anddone · 13/03/2024 12:20

I live near Amber and my neighbour saw the 5 of them out on a bike ride on Sunday afternoon.
Kate looked fine, told him he should have got a photo could have made a fortune!!

mardylookingfrump · 13/03/2024 12:21

I hope that those who know, whether her medical team or palace staff, aren’t actually out there breaking confidentiality and telling randoms what she had done. From the number of posts claiming this is what’s going on I’m amazed the hospital she was at gets any patients if they’re this indiscreet.

Runnerinthenight · 13/03/2024 12:22

Mummame222 · 13/03/2024 10:48

It’s tone deaf.

All these stupid threads, the ridiculous, mawkish speculation, and the foolish conspiracy theories are what's "tone deaf".

There's something badly wrong with our education system!!

AInightingale · 13/03/2024 12:23

They should have made something up if they didn't want to disclose the full truth. Anything. A white lie, I'm sure there are loads of abdominal procedures with a long recovery time. And we wouldn't have had this circus, not to this extent anyway.

CantDealwithChristmas · 13/03/2024 12:25

skippy67 · 13/03/2024 12:18

NGL the casual racism I've seen from various posters implying that the Spanish media don't know what they're doing because they're Spanish, is next level
