Spanish press reporting Kate was extremely ill

I don’t know how credible this is because I saw it on Twitter…

But apparently the media in Spain have reported that Catherine’s surgery was not actually planned, did not go smoothly and she was actually very sick/possibly in a coma for a period of time. And there has been a press blackout in the UK.

Could there be any truth in this? I’m struggling to see WHY something like that would be ‘hidden’ anyway 🤔

She had an operation and we were all told she would need to recover. I really don't know why some people are hounding her to be everywhere after this. Leave her alone!

mardylookingfrump · 13/03/2024 09:53

Finally, a thread about Kate!

I dont think we'll ever be told what happened, but poor soul if thats actually true.

Well...we were all told in a press release early on to respect privacy and not speculate to

Protect the Princesses young children

But people seem to conveniently forget that in their need to be nosy.

CaveMum · 13/03/2024 09:59

Most likely explanation is she has had surgery to treat a prolapse after 3 pregnancies. Mundane, but not exactly the kind of thing you want to broadcast - I certainly wouldn’t want the state of my pelvic floor being discussed worldwide!

My understanding is that sort of surgery take a fair while to recover from - hence the extended time away from the public.

Gstaad · 13/03/2024 10:00

Gotta love that word “apparently” - it does a helluva lot of heavy lifting on these deranged conspiracy threads…

Precisely which “Spanish media” are you referring to, Op? If you’re going to circulate outrageous allegations with any semblance of credibility “I saw it on Twitter” isn’t going to cut it…

<awaits link to Spain’s equivalent to Lad Bible or the National Enquirer>

SmashedPrawnsInAMilkyBasket · 13/03/2024 10:00

We were told that she would be on sick leave until Easter from the outset. That hasn’t changed, and it’s not Easter yet. Stop speculating. It’s ghoulish.

Do you ever think how much better your life might be if you didn't look at Twitter?

vaporrub · 13/03/2024 10:07

I know it’s another Kate thread but I’d not seen much on MN about the Spanish media thing specifically

I’m not sure me ‘respecting her privacy’ is going to make any difference considering she’s been all over the newspapers, news websites, trending number 1 on Twitter, all over Facebook TikTok and social media, as well as real life conversations. All off the back of their decision to release that dodgy now infamous photograph that has caused all of this.

Can't Mumsnet just kill these Kate threads. I thought they were all about protecting women rather than making them click bait. Kate is first a woman, mum. Not advertising fodder.

Lots of people endure uterine repair surgery and hysterectomy. They don’t go into hiding for 3 months. A good friend of mine had a uterine repair and she was back at work within a fortnight. Kate’s jobs are turning up somewhere staying a short time then leaving again. There’s no heavy lifting, or eight hours on her feet.

Her time off seems a bit tone deaf.

There's been all sorts of ludicrous stories made up and posted all over Twitter, that's why.

I love these threads. “Most likely explanation”? Why is a prolapse any more likely than fibroids or polyps, or an ablation for heavy periods, or literally any other gynae condition that’s a lot more common than a prolapse in a 40 year old?

True! I’ve read some hilariously ridiculous theories.

But it seems this IS being reported in the news in Spain.

Spanish press, right. I bet that's not made up at ALL.

Divebar2021 · 13/03/2024 10:17

Are you for real? We don’t even know what the procedure was. What if there were complications? The only thing that’s tone deaf is your comment.

RoseAndRose · 13/03/2024 10:17

It's Spanish (gutter) press reporting (and thereby fuelling) a really crappy internet rumour.

Well "lots of people" don't have the media interested in their reproductive systems, do they.

If she had a prolapse she would have had it since Louis was born I imagine. If she had I really doubt she she would have been wearing high heels to so many events and would probably have had the surgery much sooner.

That's got a touch of the Sir Humphrey

Bernard "there's a rumour X has done Y"
Sir H " that's true"
Bernard "you mean X really has done y?"
Sir H "no, mean it's true there's a rumour"

@YesIwillyesIwillYes

Good on your friend. The rest of your post has zero knowledge or information. You literally made the rest of it up but threw in a judgemental remark for good measure.
