The royal family

Do the Royal Family just think we are really really stupid?

Just that really. From Harry’s car chase to Prince Andrew being at a Pizza Express kid’s party.

And now we’re supposed to believe that the country’s biggest PR machine in the middle of a media storm just let Prince William take a casual Mothers Day pic on his iPhone, let the missus edit it and then post it to the world?

😒

If she has mental health problems do you think the shit that many people are posting on here and other social media outlets is helping?

aliceinthecities · 12/03/2024 14:52

I think they do not concern her

aliceinthecities · 12/03/2024 14:52

I can't imagine a Royal in MH health crisis glued to the screen reading Reddit; so no, I don't think this will affect anybody

crumblingschools · 12/03/2024 14:53

You think she doesn't know the batshit and quite cruel things people are saying

aliceinthecities · 12/03/2024 14:55

Sorry for multiple posts. Her children go to very expensive private schools. She lives entirely outside of ordinary life. Unlike Scandi Royals. If she is so removed from ordinary life, why ordinary spaces such as a mumsnet discussion should suddenly affect her?

@wordler actually I think that December tweet was legit. The person who took the video just didn’t manage to catch the ambulance in the clip because it was happening so fast.

That distinctive white strip down the front of the car marks it out as belonging to the RF.

The tweet is dated and time stamped, and the video reportedly taken very near the London Clinic.

Tweet is timed and date stamped - video is not - no evidence to say when that video was taken - even if the poster believes it in good faith who is to say the anonymous source who sent it to him was genuine.

No reason to show only a short clip without the ambulance if an ambulance was there.

Again - the convoy is in central London could be going anywhere.

In the comments on the post there is someone who claims to show that it’s actually the PM’s car and convoy.

That sounds much more likely to me.

I believe Private Eye. They have a track record of getting things right whatever anyone else claims.

What are they saying?

i agree with this in the Spectator:

i agree with this in the Spectator:

That's from The Spectator? Really?

They're spent the last couple of weeks asking where she is and ran a story yesterday calling the Mothers Day photo a 'spectacular own goal'

BenefitWaffle · 12/03/2024 15:21

@CrashyTime Some time ago Private Eye said Kate was hospitalised at the end of December for an operation, but there were complications.

LittleGlowingOblong · 12/03/2024 15:33

@wordler I take your points, and I don’t know London well, and not going to argue the point. It would be a weird clip to share, at that juncture, in bad faith.

Though there was a police car (not an ambulance) and it was caught in an accompanying clip.

BobnLen · 12/03/2024 15:40

She may have gone into hospital in December, had a temporary fix for whatever and then the planned op mid January

But not weird for that particular Twitter user - his feed is full of ‘suspicious’ things he’s heard from an anonymous source.

Lots of ‘look at this official looking car with a police escort out side this cafe, who do you think they are protecting?’

No one else was sharing the original footage and no news agencies picked it up which makes it very unlikely that it’s connected to Kate’s situation at all.

I second that !

TheAlchemistElixa · 12/03/2024 16:28

OMG!

It’s also mere metres from a Nando’s. How do you know they weren’t going there?

Ok, cheers.

BenefitWaffle · 12/03/2024 16:46

I trust Private Eye. And the piece was not alarmist or conspiracy theory sounding. Simply fairly ordinary operation with complications that means a far longer recovery period than initially anticipated.
And if the Palace had said this there would not have been all this issues. Instead they had to try and minimise what has happened.

CrashyTime · 12/03/2024 16:49

Less and less people care TBH, the young especially are not interested, there are much cooler celebrities to look at on their phone than the RF where in the past the RF were right up there with the A-Listers, that must be concerning in certain quarters?

i agree with this in the Spectator:

Lol maybe they should take it up with Reuters and all the other reputable news agencies who ran it through their imaging software. Or the NUJ who issued a statement about journalistic integrity. Well done them for blaming the public for reacting to something done by members of their own profession to, for once, maintain professional standards. 👏

crumpet · 12/03/2024 17:52

I’m not sure of your point. If the Reuters etc guidelines tell them not to use a photoshopped image, then of course the message needed to be sent to remove it.

the 87 threads on here and x etc etc, with theories as to whether Kate is dead, divorced, unconscious, disfigured, the Royal Family is misusing its power, shouldn’t be allowed to use photoshop, and endless other theories, that’s what is ludicrous.

That's not what that post said. Of course, there was going to be speculation if the photo was withdrawn as a fake! Are we just meant to say,'OK then, that's OK for KP to pass off a false image to the extent that the press can't be sure it's a truthful representation? It was a ridiculous gaslighting post. People spotted obvious photoshop. Are they saying that if it wasn't for that meddling public, Reuters would not have used due diligence on phitos sent to them? The furore was a result of the kill notices they issued. Not rando's on the internet.
