And now we’re supposed to believe that the country’s biggest PR machine in the middle of a media storm just let Prince William take a casual Mothers Day pic on his iPhone, let the missus edit it and then post it to the world?

There is no original photo, it's a mash up. They (by default) assume that we the peasants dont have the smarts to see through them.

The kill notice was unprecedented which means seasoned picture editors had major concerns about its validity, not that it was a bit of crap editing. I don't think that the RF has always had bad PR advice is in question given the Prince Andrew interview

I have no particular theory but think the whole thing is odd, especially that she has no wedding ring on. The explanation of "being at home" so left it off seems odd? I don't know anyone who takes their wedding band off. Engagement ring yes but not wedding band.

When I first looked at it I also thought her arms were in a strange place to be hugging the children but then I remembered all the weird photos I've been in and felt relieved mine don't attract the same level of scrutiny!!

I haven't read such a load of blithering bilge, such as the conspiracies that have been spouted about this photo, for a very, very long time.

I think this is all quite mad. I couldn't give a stuff if the photo is edited. So what? Most people I know routinely edit out red eye etc.

To be honest, I think few people care about the so called social media frenzy or ridiculous conspiracy theories.

The furore and nasty minded speculation about private health matters is such that it gives me more sympathy for anyone such as Harry who ( said he wanted to) opt out of the whole toxic shebang.

i can’t believe people examined the photo enough to spot the photoshop.

When I'm working on a document, or piece of music, graphics, or editing any sort of digital file/project, I save a backup copy at every stage, so that if I start to go wrong and realise that I need to start afresh from the point where I had got up to a few hours ago, I can re-open any of the backups, eg filename-edit432.bmp or filename-edit268.bmp.
It seems to me that what has possibly happened here is not so much a case of poor editing, but an admin error: somehow an intermediate backup of the photo (ie, taken half way through the editing process) has been mis-labelled or mistaken for the final copy, and sent out to the press. Maybe it was saved in the wrong folder, or its name was overwritten, something like that.
Just a guess, based on the way I work with computer files. For all I know, professional image editors might have ways to ensure that sort of mistake can't happen.

Probably because we are twittering on about a photo and keep harping on about 'where is she??' 'It's a conspiracy' So yes she probably thinks we are and she would be right!

Of course people are stupid. We've had she's in a coma, she's had a facelift, she's had a stroke, she's on steroids, she's got a stoma, she's got Bell's Palsy and even she's died.

i mean seriously, who cares? I read about them as much as the next person but a photoshopped photo? Surely it must be a slow news day for everyone to get into a frenzy over it?

I suspect the Royals do what they like, knowing they have an army of convenient scapegoats to sack if something goes wrong. Professionals can only advise. If the principal refuses to listen there's not much they can do, apart from get their cv in order.

Are all Brits this dramatic, or is it just on MN? Where I live this has warranted a small mention on the news, with the newsreaders looking, or sounding, like they are thinking "what a storm in a teacup."

Well if where you live is another country then it would be surprising for your media or public to care as much given that they are the British royal family. 🤔

For those who can’t see what all the fuss is about, why do you think the press organisations killed the photo which is pretty much unprecedented for a Royal photo?

Seeing how they treated Meghan, why is this a surprise?

Many of the people I met in France or Belgium between 2017 and 2020 thought a lot of British people were stupid, so why not the Royal Family thinking likewise.
