Imagine using the victims of a school shooting for attention and PR. There seem to be no depths to which this pair will not sink

Meghan and Harry sing happy birthday to school shooting victim family

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle make a surprise visit to Uvalde, Texas, to support the family of Irma Garcia, a teacher killed in the 2022 school shooting.

In this photo, Harry is holding himself together in a rather awkward way?

In the second photo the two girls in the background don't look too happy.

They're teenage girls pulling faces in the background of a family member's selfie.

motheronthedancefloor · 10/03/2024 09:41

If I lost a family member to a shooting, the last thing I'd want is some celebrity turning up. Nor would I be videoing the celebrations. I'd be celebrating (or crying more like)! in private. Its all very wierd and inappropriate, whether invited or not. Surely they can support privately through sending donations, letters, flowers or something.

Absolutely!! It's all a publicity PR crappy excuse to get themselves in the media ... they're monsters for just showing up when a family is in grief and mourning - it actually disgusts me!

”weeping tears of joy” and insisting they sing Happy Birthday to a woman whose sister died in the shooting while presenting her with a cake.

They have absolutely no shame.

I'm sure people see it's all fake.

Vespanest · 10/03/2024 10:16

this is the minefield of being Prince Harry and just calll me Harry at the same time. It doesn’t matter that this was an organic meeting after being in communication as they are not Meghan and Harry stopping by for a chat. They will be photographed, they do not have ownership of those photographs and the person who posts them will be scrutinised by their social media accounts. Its not was it PR it is if it looks like PR

caringcarer · 10/03/2024 10:16

It reminded me of the time they did the photoshoot in the cemetery on poppy day.

Is not an organic meeting though, it is a way to get publicity off the back of someone's tragedy - I'm sure there's a word for that kind of behaviour

It is awkwardly timing, Meghan having literally just given a speech condemning online abuse of women as she herself suffered, and having the very next person she visits posting that he loves the Sussex Squad. Who are of course avidly posting some incredibly vile material about Kate just now. Bit of a vetting fail there.

if I had my tin foil hat on, I may even indulge the thought it wasn’t a vetting fail, but a calculated sign of approval. If I was of the tin foil hat wearing persuasion that is…

Gingerkittykat · 10/03/2024 07:15

Maybe they actually care about the victims of a horrible school shooting and their families.

The people they visited seem happy about it!

One of the girl in the background to the selfie doesn't seem that happy.

It is rather ghoulish, leaves an unpleasant taste in the mouth

God almighty who is advising these people?

If it was about caring, there would be no photos

do you think that about all the other royals who visit people in other similar circumstances and publicise very bit of it? Of course you don't.

Overtheatlantic · 10/03/2024 10:31

Poorly done OP.

Again I ask, do you and other posters think the 'Sussex squad' is an organised paid up membership or something? Some of them are decent people, using the hashtag to support charities the Sussexes highlight. Some people who use the hashtag or claim they're part of it are not nice. It's like making Kate, William, Charles or any other member responsible for royal fans who write absolute hate online about the Sussexes. Vile material is written about Meghan and Harry, including on this forum, and nobody would think to blame Kate for it. Interesting again, there seems to be a different standard for Meghan.

Tontostitis · 10/03/2024 10:35

Meggan has utterly failed to call out the Sussex Squad and has actually thanked them for their support.

Pushtart · 10/03/2024 10:35

Mrsjayy · 10/03/2024 10:32

So? Its weird people think the royals are actually special and the only people who can do good work for others are people who get paid millions and have a higher ranking in society than everyone else. It is not just 'working/freeloading royals' who can do good. Many people do this kind of work without asking the taxpayer to give them money for it. If you don't think they're doing it for good PR, using others, why single Meghan out?

FloofCloud · 10/03/2024 10:35

@Pushtart - the fact is, with the RF, it's a job they do, they are the RF and they act on behalf of the RF/country ... they don't go self promoting off the back of someone else's trauma. H&M do it for the benefit of monetising their brand and link g their pockets, as well as trying to use situations to garner, or show horn themselves into a wider platform - disgusting

Pushtart · 10/03/2024 10:36

So interesting to see the double standards. I shall remember it next time any royal takes a photograph with someone.

viques · 10/03/2024 10:38

Did Meghan bake the cake? I am assuming not, as if she had there would be pictures, and the recipe, and possibly snaps of the back of the childrens heads as they licked out the bowl and spoon…….

It's not double standards is it - QE2 said no monetising the RF, H&M do everything they can to go against this grain! They act on behalf of their pockets, the RF have a job to do. Personally not bothered about the RF, but they do a job for the country. H&M are the so called grifters

Chupacabara · 10/03/2024 10:42

Good to hear you’ll start looking at double standards, maybe you’ll get better at spotting meghan’s hypocrisy.

But then again, maybe not, after hearing you wax lyrical about sussex squad.

What do you mean? No monetising the RF? Is that a joke? Of course it is monetised. The Queen got significant sums of money for her 'charity work' and releasing photos ensures the gravy train continues. Right? They have to be seen to be believed after all... The Rf don't have a job, they have a role. For which they get paid an obscene amount for. I am not sure why private citizens are held to higher standards.
