Imagine using the victims of a school shooting for attention and PR. There seem to be no depths to which this pair will not sink

Meghan and Harry sing happy birthday to school shooting victim family

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle make a surprise visit to Uvalde, Texas, to support the family of Irma Garcia, a teacher killed in the 2022 school shooting.

@BemusedAmerican

Newsweek wrote about the visit to Uvalde. Meghan didn’t take a film crew and Archewell has contributed to building a playground there since (thus contributing to the lives of American children). Ulvade

I feel sorry for the father of one of the victims who just had to speak out because the untrue reports of this, and other things, were distressing for him. We live in an age when media does not care who it hurts in pursuit of clicks and bucks.

This has been talked about on the RF forum before, and the film crew accusation (started on x) debunked. We have also talked about the playground. I’m surprised no one on this thread remembers.

Anyway I’ll leave you all to your varying recollections.

Edited

It's like the Archewell nothingburger - latch onto any supposed transgression , spin it until it's unreognisable and if it's debunked move onto the next thing with nary an apology. They can never win which is why I think now they wisely avoid the brickbats. It's water off a duck's back.

RoseAndRose · 17/05/2024 20:04

Did anyone ever say she took a film crew?

Everything I've seen stated that she took photographers, and that there are pix showing that she posed and reviewed images before leaving.

(Very Blairite to deny something that's not actually what the issue is - but blatant deflection is much more readily spotted now)

Have you seen this

@RoseAndRose

dedicated anti-Meghan account, unreMARKLEble, which claimed she "took her cameras to a literal CRIME SCENE, 3 days after the mass murder of children. Using Uvalde to raise her profile & get press,"

Brett Cross, father of Uziyah "Uzi" Garcia, who was killed in the shooting, spoke in defense of the duchess. "You're so far from the truth," he wrote in his X post on December 22. "She arrived without media, and did tell them to leave that she wasn't there for them. She has also kept in contact with my wife."

Please read the article.

From the Newsweek article I posted. No film crew or photographers.

But some posters will still keep throwing mud

If you can’t believe the man whose child was a victim in ulvade, then you won’t believe anything I’ve put in front of you here.

That’s a very unfair statement.

He maybe telling the truth as he sees it. That doesn’t mean he has all of the facts.

If you mean you give up trying to convince everyone to share your every opinion, I think that’s for the best. You’ll never have accomplish that:

Viviennemary · 17/05/2024 21:25

Why does she feel she should be involved in visiting complete strangers who have experienced a tragedy. Is she representing the royals still. They have taken on a pseudo royal VIP role using their titles . People think this is wrong.

How come there were photos published? Whoever took them, it's in very poor taste!

Well they are doing a pretty sterling job of looking like they do!!

"Private citizens" do not tour Nigeria, last time I looked!

So what happened to their philanthropy and humanitarianism? All swallowed up by self-aggrandisement and self-promotion!

Edited

Well that poster was staying it like a fact and they were invited to Nigeria and they chose to accept that invite.

I mean I am going to on a 2 week trip across Croatia this year...I could call that a tour of Croatia if I wanted to...so odnt be so ridiculous plenty of people go touring countries.

AliceOlive · 17/05/2024 23:28

Will there be press?

Will you be meeting dignitaries? Will you be touring schools and inspecting troops? Attending receptions? Giving speeches? Flown first class? Ostensibly representing a charity? Receiving gifts?

If you do, kindly share it here. I am sure we would all be interested.

Too funny!

Well if someone invited me to their country and then were in a position that they decided to arrange those things without asking than yeah i would be.

RedRosesPinkLilies · 18/05/2024 06:43

@LumiB - then surely that would be an Official Visit, or at least a business trip.

It not what happens on a normal holiday / individual’s touring round a country for an interesting break.

You might find helpful
next time someone posts that still shot by the lady in the blue hijab of Meghan walking past the photographer and trying not to step on her as proof she was reviewing the photos. I’ve tried several times before but as you can see, people will either deny what they see or move the goal posts.

Yep. If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then there's a very high chance it is a duck, as the saying goes!

MaturingCheeseball · 18/05/2024 10:40

I have never been on holiday and had God Save the Queen played for me. (Or King, now.) Perhaps this happens for others such as LumiB?

It is the British National Anthem not the Monarch's private one.

ArcaneWireless · 18/05/2024 11:22

The National anthem generally isn’t played for any tom, dick or Harry though.

Still, it gave her the chance to look triumphant, smirk AND find the camera, so it wasn’t a waste.

I thought that! Well, maybe not so wittily, but I did think "I'm British! I've been on on my holidays and nobody played an anthem for me"

And it couldn't have been because Harry was representing the Invictus Games because they're international.

TheFirmBiscuit · 18/05/2024 11:39

It would appear at first sight many Nigerians seem to respect the principle of heridtary monarchy and royal blood so as the son of a living King, Harry seems to have inherited some of this mystical royal pixie dust. Weird I know, but then the whole thing is in my mind anyway. As the Thai democracy protestors liked to intone, No God,No King,Only Human.
