Do you know why we haven’t heard from Kate?

At the beginning of her absence the following was released and they are obviously sticking to it.

"Kensington Palace will, therefore, only provide updates on Her Royal Highness’s progress when there is significant new information to share."

crumpet · 28/02/2024 13:13

That is certainly not the only take away.

At the time it was said that she wanted her privacy respected and would be out of action until Easter. So far they are playing exactly to that plan. So nothing has changed at all from the outset.

Apart from William pulling out of important memorials with no notice…

Newchapterbeckons · 28/02/2024 13:12

😂 It’s not a performance to say thank you for the incredible support.

yes and Camilla and Charles are able to. The King is in his 70's and was seen days after surgery and cancer diagnosis waving to the crowd. It is exactly what I mentioned before, offering us stability and reassurance is a very royal thing to do.

PumpkinPieAlibi · 28/02/2024 13:14

Re: Pippa, the pics of her on holiday are neither here nor there as no one knows when they were taken. Her husband's family owns the resort in St. Barts at which they were staying and they go there several times a year so, while it's likely they are recent pictures, does anyone really know for sure?

I will say it's a bit weird we haven't gotten any news or pics of Kate's parents. There'd usually be 1 or 2 puff pieces on Carole helping Kate etc.

Inkanta · 28/02/2024 13:15

This might explain PA highly inappropriate exuberance en-route not only to a memorial service but one where a shocking, untimely death has just been announced where v close family were present. Also his bombastic opportunistic bouncing himself up to the front

Yes exactly. Highly inappropriate exuberance! What's the matter with the man and who thought it was a good idea. Makes the royal family look ridiculous. At least William has a bit of grace and decorum when he shows up.

It is unexpected for them not to release statements direct from her, usually they would take the opportunity to get some good PR and public sympathy with short statements about her at home with the kids, thank you to everyone for the cards and gifts sent, perhaps photos of her opening or reading them with the children. Just a single photo with a message, or a message on their social, even about the King... but it's the absolute silence that is unusual. The Queen was a very elderly woman and she carried on her duties right till the end and rarely opted out of engagements for any extended periods. William doesn't do a lot at the best of times, so the fact he is not stepping up or even visiting his father is making people unsettled.

One of the reasons given for the monarchy, lovely Princess Anne is fond of saying it herself, is to provide us with stability. It doesn't seem very stable to me when Andrew and Fergie are filing the hole. Nobody wants to see that.

I thought Charles was recently at Sandringham whilst Kate and William were there. He is at Windsor the rest of the time, on their doorstep. How on earth do you know how often they see each other? Charles doesn’t need visits in hospital. He’s being treated as an out patient.

Kenthighst · 28/02/2024 13:15

MsForgetful · 28/02/2024 12:40

Nobody is baying for photos of the kids here that I can see... it was simply a comment that as they are obviously watched all the time and occasionally photographed at school, on the school run, so, has anyone seen them?

People seem to be getting a bit hysterical at what are pretty reasonable questions around William and Kate at the moment. They're going to be our next King and Queen, he is going to be our head of state, and there is some unusual and unexpected behaviour. All the family are scrutinised, this is no different.

William hasn't been seen with another member of the family since Christmas, not even visiting his very sick father, Kate hasn't been seen since, usually photographs or some statements would be released over a long absence, but we have nothing. They had a foreign trip plan announced Dec 22, so none of this absence is planned. There is also no sign of her parents, not visiting hospital or their homes. It is unusual, and it is concerning and its ok for people to say so.

I think it's a reasonable question too. And for what it's worth if I were a Lambrook parebt I'd definitely be scouring these threads to get the low down 😁
Imagine the speculation on the Lambrook school run!

Three weeks ago my normal weight gym fanatic healthy son was admitted to hospital with stretococcal meningitis after over a week of terrifying seesaw days he was sent home with a box of drugs. Three weeks after being admitted he's skeletal, muscle waste, weight loss.

No we really don't need to see Kate just now.

Exactly

He’s the King so it’s entirely different.

Newchapterbeckons · 28/02/2024 13:17

Efacsen · 28/02/2024 13:15

Exactly

We don’t need to ‘see’ Kate, no, but it’s highly unusual not to have heard from her at all. In what six or eight weeks.

ShamedBySiri · 28/02/2024 13:17

And as much as it's driving some people/the press demented that there have been no updates, they have stuck to what they said at the beginning. A bit like training dogs and children really. Give a little and they want more.

Newchapterbeckons · 28/02/2024 13:17

EchoChamber · 28/02/2024 13:16

Kate is the future Queen, next in line.

My sons clients are going to have to wait. She's not the queen so enough ghoulishness

Roussette · 28/02/2024 13:19

@justasking111

How worrying for you, I hope your son gets better and stronger quickly Flowers

Not really it was said at the outset that there wouldn't be progress reports

And that's precisely what's happening

Yep next in line, your point?

Yes thats what I mean. I don't expect weekly health updates, but nothing actually from her is unusual. nothing from the two of them about Charles illness either? Nothing about her birthday across the royal accounts? Despite what some people want to say, this is all very unusual and it is concerning. The KP staff are useless.

Exactly but some folk have short time memory issues, not dissimilar from goldfish

JaneJeffer · 28/02/2024 13:22

Some people on here are the type of people who would go to visit someone in hospital despite them saying they don't want any visitors!

I don't know why you need to be so rude to other posters. If the topic upsets you so much you don't need to read the thread.

"My guess - one of the classmates of G/C/L started repeating gossip/speculation they'd heard from their parents"

I have been assured by Mumsnet experts that this would never happen. Because, apparently, it's a private school.

🤣🤣🤣🤣

MarvellousMidgeMaisel · 28/02/2024 13:23

The thing is... there was no official statement that Kate is doing well... i've searched everywhere and I can't find anything official (Certainly nothing from Kensington Palace), Some papers say KP has released a statement, some say "sources at KP' say she's doing well, but there is nothing official. There are no quotes from KP, just a vague 'update' message. Unless papers receive statements from the palace that we're not privy to. I suppose that could be possible.

Useless fact, but Goldfish in fact have quite good memories.

There's still another 6 weeks to go - plenty of time for her to release a photo or a message of thanks.
