Not suggesting it is, but abdominal aortic aneurysm, for example, would see most people needing to stay in hospital for over a week, but it can take some weeks to make a full recovery. just another possible explanation perhaps.

Let's go back to her original statement and respect that

The thing is... there was no official statement that Kate is doing well... i've searched everywhere and I can't find anything official (Certainly nothing from Kensington Palace), Some papers say KP has released a statement, some say "sources at KP' say she's doing well, but there is nothing official. There are no quotes from KP, just a vague 'update' message. Unless papers receive statements from the palace that we're not privy to. I suppose that could be possible.

It was a palace aide who was asked how she was doing at an event, and said she "continues to be doing well".

I would imagine, since there haven't been any other comments like this, this was an agreed comment as a way to say that William missing the memorial service wasn't because of Kate.

Edited

Aortic aneurysms are a disease of the elderly

Rarely they are due to a genetic condition which generally would have been apparent before middle age

So unlikely

All this reminds me of the hysteria surrounding Diana’s death with the crowd baying for walkabouts from HMTLQ and the boys. When the RF eventually caved in a woman in the crowd sobbed and begged Prince Philip to take care of the boys. We have, he growled back through gritted teeth.

This 👏

RokaandRoll · 28/02/2024 13:32

I suspect she's off work sick with stress. She probably also took the opportunity to have some sort of abdominal surgery - I've needed several minor operations in my 30s and 40s including fibroids, ovarian cyst, gallbladder removal. They're not that uncommon. And that William pulled out yesterday due to a panic attack.

They've both had a terrible few years due to family issues as we all know, not least Harry and Megan goading them, losing the Queen, etc. They also seem so trapped as they can't abdicate without leaving their children next in line and choice of a regent would also be problematic.

I'm guessing the PoW has a media blackout because if you're off work with stress you don't even want to hear about or think about work. If it had just been a physical health issue there would have been a few photos of her waving, a message saying thank you for the support, etc. Like KC has been having. But with mental health I don't think you'd have any of that.

I am not sure that is what happened though!

The "baying crowd" wanted to see the queen, not the children.

They were very angry at the apparent lack of care for the fact that she had died in such a terrible way.

The royal family decided to send out the children as a mitigation against that anger - a kind of crowd control. They were afraid of the crowds reaction to the Queen.

They should never have done it.

Could it be that KC and PW are at loggerheads over the rehabilitation of PA?

Maybe PW didn’t want PA at the memorial service and KC overruled him so PW stepped back at the last minute.

This might explain PA highly inappropriate exuberance en-route not only to a memorial service but one where a shocking, untimely death has just been announced where v close family were present. Also his bombastic opportunistic bouncing himself up to the front?

exactly, KC pulls rank, is driven off, William phones the rellies, says cannot (will not) be there, KC leaving him no manouvering space
PA cocky obnoxious demeanour as you say, inappropriate, as per usual

this plausible theory mooted on the other side, GN, met with scorn and derision,
however, we will see, the truth will out.

If he was ill the Palace statement would reflect this? last minute withdrawal=row

well played, Holmes !

Mylovelygreendress · 28/02/2024 13:37

I wonder if Harry was invited to the memorial service ?

JSMill · 28/02/2024 13:37

@LadyCynthiaFitzmelton I remember that moment very well! The cheek of that woman!

Ecfasen, I bow to your higher knowledge. I've learned something new today.

MaggieFS · 28/02/2024 13:39

Wouldn't it make more sense (and therefore have no place on mn!) for a statement of thanks to be the sensible/obvious/timely way to mark the end of her recuperation and return to working life.

@justasking111 this is a discussion forum. If you don't want to discuss the topic, you shouldn't come to it and tell other people to stop, or go elsewhere.

Sorry didn't mean to sound like a bossy know-all

Weirdly we have both in the family a 96 yr old and a teenager both with AA - but different causes

Newchapterbeckons · 28/02/2024 13:42

They need to release a statement. The lack of one is even more telling.
I imagine KP PR team would dearly love to release a heartfelt message of recovery and thanks from Kate.

I can’t think why they are allowing this to turn into this undignified circus.

It’s really fast becoming a royal family I don’t even recognise. I don’t agree with the black out at all, because at the heart of this is growing unease for Kate. She is a Queen in waiting regardless of what pp say the public should be trusted to know the truth.

MsForgetful · 28/02/2024 13:42

going by how they, and the media, have responded to mental health issues within the family previously I don't think that is likely.

Tearsofamermaid · 28/02/2024 13:44

Has anyone considered that he might just have felt completely overwhelmed? His father is being treated for cancer, he has fallen out very publicly with his only brother, his wife is recovering from a major operation (with all the uncertainties that can mean) and he discovered in the last couple of days that his cousin’s husband has passed away unexpectedly (and I have read that they were good friends, so he may actually be devastated if this is true).

All this aside from the pressures of having three young children (who he and Kate are known to be very hands on with) and his long-term future as King when Charles passes away.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 28/02/2024 13:46

It's not KP who are turning this into an undignified circus. A message has been released that she's had treatment, she's recuperating and will be back doing duties around Easter. It's the people who think they're entitled to the minutiae of someone's health issues because she's a public figure who are doing that.

No, because he has dealt with far more demanding situations than this. Even if he was overwhelmed he would do it. He knew the speculation would run riot, creating more pressure. I think if he was struggling he would have cancelled days before.

I believe he has been trying to show a certain narrative that all is fine and we are carrying on as normal, and that hasn’t been possible.

LizzieSiddal · 28/02/2024 13:50

Whatever went on yesterday I do feel for PW, although I’m not a royalist at all.

His brother has caused a lot of upset in the last few years and who knows if they will ever speak to each other again. Also PH going has meant PE has lost the support he should have had from his brother.

PW also had an elderly father with cancer and his wife is so ill she needed a two week stay in hospital.

All of this is a lot for anyone to cope with.

BoohooWoohoo · 28/02/2024 13:50

A statement of thanks isn’t going to satisfy the conspiracy theorists. They are going to ask questions like why does she have her hair and makeup done when she’s recovering ? When was the statement recorded? Why now ? Is it AI ? Etc A statement on their social media will be seen as an assistant posting what they are told to rather than a genuine sentiment.

For the sake of Kate’s family and friends, I hope that she’s ok and genuinely getting better every day and that William is ok too. I know that the family have lots of practical help but no amount of money can totally remove the stress of a sick spouse and father.

William pulled out of his Godfathers memorial. Clearly things are not okay! Very far from it. Ofc people will be wondering what on earth has happened to Kate. She is a much loved member of the royal family and country.
