Why hasn’t Kate released any kind of statement herself to reassure the public and thank her well wishers? This would take zero effort from her recovery. Doesn’t require her to go anywhere/do anything.

The only take away is that she is currently unable to do so.

I am really hoping that is not the reason, I hope it is that she is unwilling to do so. Unable would suggest really poor health and I hope thats not the case- I also don't think Pippa would do an orchestrated bikini parade if it was.

NotARealWookiie · 28/02/2024 13:02

I really don’t know why the palace didn’t trot out the “minor illness” line. Then everyone would have presumed he had the shits and carried on.

AInightingale · 28/02/2024 13:02

Did William drive Kate home from hospital when she was discharged? Not clear about that, didn't see any shots apart from some blurry one which seemed to feature plants on the passenger seat for some reason.

Minikievs · 28/02/2024 13:02

@Newchapterbeckons
Maybe the Asda delivery is running late
Maybe the freezer needs defrosting
Maybe he's got the trots
Maybe Charlotte has forgotten her PE kit

We're some of the reasons given.
Sounds fairly lighthearted and amusing to me.

JaneJeffer · 28/02/2024 13:03

@Newchapterbeckons give over

If you wanted to deflect attention a good way to do so would be Pippa in a bikini. It says all is well, when maybe that isn’t the case.

Do you know why we haven’t heard from Kate? Have you any idea how unusual that is? The Royal family have manners if nothing else and Kate will have received thousands of flowers, gifts and cards.

Porkfest · 28/02/2024 13:06

Could it be that KC and PW are at loggerheads over the rehabilitation of PA?

Maybe PW didn’t want PA at the memorial service and KC overruled him so PW stepped back at the last minute.

This might explain PA highly inappropriate exuberance en-route not only to a memorial service but one where a shocking, untimely death has just been announced where v close family were present. Also his bombastic opportunistic bouncing himself up to the front?

MsForgetful · 28/02/2024 13:07

@Newchapterbeckons aren't they quite close? Surely she would be with her ill sister? But maybe you are right. I think it would be better for them to be honest about it.

VegetablesFightingToReclaimTheAubergieneEmoji · 28/02/2024 13:07

theres bound to be a news black out on parents visiting, and any comings and goings, regardless of any immediate issues it would be very poor taste to show family visiting over the past few months.

No, William drove Andy to church or something recently all smiles, Kate in the back.

why? its normal. Camilla was seen in and out of hospital visiting Charles, Camilla has been an absolute trooper and is much older than William. She is supporting her husband while sick, doing lots of official duties and heading the family at a big event. Where the hell is William?

Leave the woman alone! She’s ill! Even when she’s ill she’s expected to behave like a performing seal. It’s sickening.

Quizine · 28/02/2024 13:09

The other thread was kind of lighthearted, and I confess to have laughed at some of the theories. It was also the least toxic thread on the RF that I have read in a long time.

So my theory is that George punched a classmate (who said something goady to him). Classmate fell and hit his head, George fell on top of him. Teacher unable to separate them, security detail prised them apart and the two kids had to be taken to A+E for concussion. Kate unable to accompany them/sign consents, Norland Nanny at a spa morning off, so W had to leg it and sort the altercation out.

And all this in a Private School? OMG. That's what I see in my mind's eye anyway.

stillavid · 28/02/2024 13:10

How do people know that thank you letters aren't being sent on Kate's behalf? To be fair I have no idea of the protocol as umm am not likely to send a get well card to someone I have never met.

If my sister was in a very public difficult position this is exactly what I would do. Surely the kindest thing Pippa can do is to keep the attention away from the truth.

justasking111 · 28/02/2024 13:11

Three weeks ago my normal weight gym fanatic healthy son was admitted to hospital with stretococcal meningitis after over a week of terrifying seesaw days he was sent home with a box of drugs. Three weeks after being admitted he's skeletal, muscle waste, weight loss.

No we really don't need to see Kate just now.

3luckystars · 28/02/2024 13:12

They could be old photos of Pippa from months ago, I wouldn’t believe anything in the newspapers.

All we can do is hope for the best.

stillavid · 28/02/2024 13:12

I am sure we have seen photos of Pippa on holiday before especially as her FIL is facing legal issues of his own.

Anyway, the photos didn't work as haven't distracted at all. Although people are v impressed with her abs after three children ;)

That is certainly not the only take away.

At the time it was said that she wanted her privacy respected and would be out of action until Easter. So far they are playing exactly to that plan. So nothing has changed at all from the outset.

ShamedBySiri · 28/02/2024 13:13

Private Eye has a Palace Flunkey column - no idea if the "informant" is an actual employee, they don't disclose serious secrets, just drop hints and snide comments.

But the recent edition said Kate's surgery was expected to be minor and the plan had been in and out of hospital within the week, timed for last week of the holidays so no one would notice anything. Then it turned out to be more serious.

This sounds entirely possible to me.

Of course the "more serious" could be something like the surgeon accidentally snipped a ureter or something. A fairly common complication, we get a few coming through my department, often women having surgery for gynae reasons at the local private hospital....
It's not necessarily due to a crap surgeon, they can be difficult to identify. A recent case the surgeon had written "ureters identified and protected" in the operation notes yet somehow one was severed.

It would take a little while sorting out something like that so she's fit to return to a public role, looking fabulous and with a smile slapped in her face. No phased return to work for her. So it's entirely right that they gave a generous period of time for her to fully recover her health and stamina and hopefully she will return after Easter looking none the worse for whatever has been the problem.

I find it unusual because I'd assume they don't write their own thank you statements. So I'm surprised they've not done a "the princess of wales would like to thank everyone for their well wishes etc etc"
I don't think there's any nefarious reason for it, because you could do it without even speaking to her, so I don't think not doing it is a sign of her condition being severe if that makes sense.

I just think it's surprising.
