I half expected an announcement last night that Catherine has died

I do think there would have been more news . . . people seen going to her home etc. There is definitely something going on, we will be informed soon I am sure.

Comedycook · 28/02/2024 12:46

I very much doubt W&C will get divorced. I do think she is probably really quite unwell. I hope I am wrong as she is a relatively young woman with three small children.

Newchapterbeckons · 28/02/2024 12:44

I think BP at this stage need to offer an honest update of the actual facts: I think it is a risk to continue with such speculation, and will corrode public good will if something serious is being covered up. They are the future King and Queen, not just spare parts. This charade needs to stop.

Why do you think what they've said isn't the 'actual facts'? How can they possibly satisfy you that they aren't lying? Do you need to see Kate's abdominal scars or something?

Mmmm I don't know. Anything is possible.

I agree. Yesterday's update that she was doing well may be generally accurate but that doesn't mean there wasn't an issue yesterday.

I think there is still a serious issue. God help them.

And my 25-year-old BIL was back in hospital six weeks after major abdominal surgery. It’s entirely dependent on the patient and the situation; there’s no “should”

There is a usual/ “should" recovery time range. Anything longer is usually because of complications, pre-existing conditions or general frailty, as was the case with your BIL. From everything that has been released by their PR the POW ‘continues to be doing well’ which after 6 weeks in a healthy 42 year old should be up and about. So, either the updates are inaccurate or she should be returning to strength.

You have no idea what’s wrong with her! Personally I suspected Crohns / ulcerative colitis which would explain her low weight. If she’s had her colon removed you are talking weeks and weeks to recover. My mum blew up massively, had infections, problems adjusting digestion etc etc. but like I said, we don’t know what the problem is . She could have had a kidney transplant, anything.

@MsForgetful Thank you. It was me that made the comment about the school run. I'm glad you read it as it was intended. One comment on a fast moving, double thread, and I'm apparently baying and salivating for pictures of small children 😐

You forgot to put LIGHTHEARTED in big flashing letters what can you expect?

MsForgetful · 28/02/2024 12:49

SecondUsername4me · 28/02/2024 12:43

What is happening with Kate is exactly what they told us was going to happen with her, agead of her surgery. One press release, no updates, and she will be back working after Easter.

Literally they are doing exactly what they said would happen. It's therefore not surprising or concerning that she hasn't been seen at all.

It is unexpected for them not to release statements direct from her, usually they would take the opportunity to get some good PR and public sympathy with short statements about her at home with the kids, thank you to everyone for the cards and gifts sent, perhaps photos of her opening or reading them with the children. Just a single photo with a message, or a message on their social, even about the King... but it's the absolute silence that is unusual. The Queen was a very elderly woman and she carried on her duties right till the end and rarely opted out of engagements for any extended periods. William doesn't do a lot at the best of times, so the fact he is not stepping up or even visiting his father is making people unsettled.

One of the reasons given for the monarchy, lovely Princess Anne is fond of saying it herself, is to provide us with stability. It doesn't seem very stable to me when Andrew and Fergie are filing the hole. Nobody wants to see that.

Don’t be vulgar. Things are clearly very much not okay, I have never known any member of the RF pull out of a memorial where they were due to speak an hour beforehand. It’s never happened. It must have been literally life or death.

Where is Kate? Where are her parents? What is going on.

You're welcome, sadly on social media, people do love to attack for no reason and deliberately misrepresent innocent comments.

Newchapterbeckons · 28/02/2024 12:51

Kate has not spoken for herself or issued a single statement thanking well
wishers for their gifts and thoughts. This is highly highly unusual as well.

StickyWickets · 28/02/2024 12:51

MsForgetful · 28/02/2024 12:40

Nobody is baying for photos of the kids here that I can see... it was simply a comment that as they are obviously watched all the time and occasionally photographed at school, on the school run, so, has anyone seen them?

People seem to be getting a bit hysterical at what are pretty reasonable questions around William and Kate at the moment. They're going to be our next King and Queen, he is going to be our head of state, and there is some unusual and unexpected behaviour. All the family are scrutinised, this is no different.

William hasn't been seen with another member of the family since Christmas, not even visiting his very sick father, Kate hasn't been seen since, usually photographs or some statements would be released over a long absence, but we have nothing. They had a foreign trip plan announced Dec 22, so none of this absence is planned. There is also no sign of her parents, not visiting hospital or their homes. It is unusual, and it is concerning and its ok for people to say so.

No, the children are not occasionally photographed at school or on the school run! Their parents may choose to release photos of them on official engagements but other than that the press do not publish photos of children for very good reason.

Suggesting that the press should be publishing them for all to see so you can examine their faces to see if there are any signs of distress is quite frankly repulsive.

And so it dressing it up as 'I was just commenting that it's unusual' that's all🙄

JaneJeffer · 28/02/2024 12:52

Are Kate's parents MIA now too? Grin

stillavid · 28/02/2024 12:53

I think the lack of photos of Kate is because generally the British press don't print pap shots of her going about her business with the children.

I also suspect the press do know what is going on but are respecting her privacy because they know it is not in the public interest.

I would also assume they would be very careful after what happened with the poor member of staff in the hospital when she was pregnant with George.

you've added a sentiment that was absent form the posters original comment. Why are you so defensive about this? Nobody was suggesting stalking children or posting distressed faces. Relax.

I mean officially released photos, they definitely can, and usually would, do that.

The European press wouldn't care. So no I don't think she's doing school runs Etc

Roussette · 28/02/2024 12:56

People do like to miss the point on here . No one in their right mind would expect papped shots of the children.
But both W&K choose at times to show the children. Charlotte and the football when W didn't go to the Women's World cup. David Attenborough chat with them. Video on beach in Norfolk. And plenty more.

I just imagined a chosen and carefully orchestrated by W appearance with their Dad might've happened

cathyandclaire · 28/02/2024 12:57

I’ve worked in gastro, also have loads of IBD in the family. I also thought the POW may have had a colectomy/ ileostomy for IBD. However, I still think the positive updates from the palace do not fit with the expected recovery time. After 6 weeks, most people without complications, would be able to deal with an issue with one of the kids with the support of a nanny/housekeeper/driver/PA while their DH went down the road to a memorial service.

I’m not disputing that Catherine is not back to fitness, I’m saying that she was/is much more unwell than announced and that her recovery is stormier than the press releases indicate.

My point exactly

Almostwelsh · 28/02/2024 12:57

I don't think it's suspicious that they haven't shown photos of Kate. She may have lost a lot of weight and she didn't have any to lose. They know if she's seen looking skeletal and visibly unwell people will talk about that, so they aren't releasing photos until she is better.

Newchapterbeckons · 28/02/2024 12:58

Why hasn’t Kate released any kind of statement herself to reassure the public and thank her well wishers? This would take zero effort from her recovery. Doesn’t require her to go anywhere/do anything.

The only take away is that she is currently unable to do so.

Minikievs · 28/02/2024 12:58

@StickyWickets It was me that commented about the school run. Not a pp. The reason given (if you read my original comment) was that it would have removed the speculation (on the first thread) that it was due to one of the children having broken a bone for example.
That's all.
That's literally all I intended.
If you read into that that I want to examine their faces for signs of distress (Confused) then I think that's possibly saying more about you than me.
All you had to say was "they don't usually release pictures of the school run so I doubt they'd do that this time". That's all.
The first half of this thread was reasonably lighthearted and amusing, coupled with concern about hoping nothing was seriously wrong.
This second half seems to have degenerated into a stream of nitpicking and nastiness.

Why would we be lighthearted or amusing? Clearly something is very wrong why would that be funny?

All this reminds me of the hysteria surrounding Diana’s death with the crowd baying for walkabouts from HMTLQ and the boys. When the RF eventually caved in a woman in the crowd sobbed and begged Prince Philip to take care of the boys. We have, he growled back through gritted teeth.
