And yes, privacy does come before manners, what kind of world do you operate in where "manners" trump someones private medical details.

Historically, in modern times, the RF has never been open about their health.
Why should they be?
To satisfy the media?

There are rumours about the late Queen Mother and her health (various serious issues incl cancer) but the RF never over-share.

I had major major surgery a few years ago and pretty much the first thing I did once I could make it to the loo and back was thank everyone for their love and support. This is absolutely bog standard stuff.

I don't want to know her private medical details. That's her business

A message thanking everyone for the good wishes is not private medical details

How can you protect pre teen children from anything. Social media makes it impossible. Better to be transparent and take away the speculation.

Saying we fund them and then thinking they owe us insight into all their health matters is just crazy.

She hasn't disappeared for months. She's recovering and will resume duties after Easter.

It's crazy how many people on here believe Prince William is super human, dealing with everything in life with a stiff upper lip because as a future King he's trained to do so. Imagine you're in a room full of royal relatives about to read aloud on live TV broadcast a reading from the bible. All eyes upon you. I read the actual reading aloud. It's quite emotional. However I did not have my mum die, my brother doing ghastly stuff, as did my uncle, my grand parents dying a year apart, my father having cancer and my wife ill. On top of it my cousin's husband dies hours earlier, similar age.I'm sure Prince William was a ready to do what was expexted of him, read at King Constantine's thanksgiving service. I believe at the 11th hour that was the straw that broke the camel's back and he had some sort of meltdown with everybody present and King Konstantin's son took over. Prince William is only human, give him
a break. I'm
only guessing btw. I work with the public and am used to have to put on a " public face " under difficult circumstances. Sometimes even the strongest , most experienced public figures crack at zero notice.
