I can’t be the only one that feels something awful has happened to her.

It’s my belief they are doing their best to save her, and each week hoping for progress so that they can put something out to the public. William is refusing to give an inch.

I don’t believe for a second she is eating grapes, feet up watching MAFS in Windsor whilst point blank ignoring the growing concern for her welfare, and ignoring all the well wishers and choosing to not issue a statement. I just don’t buy that at all.

menohnopausal · 28/02/2024 15:41

@Overtheatlantic I have crohn's and I'm perfectly dignified, thankyouverymuch.

Newchapterbeckons · 28/02/2024 15:42

And the reason it gets to me, is I can’t bear dishonesty, being misled or being played for a fool.

They should just bloody well tell us what has happened. At this point it’s just ridiculous that they haven’t.

Is she alive?
Where is she?
Why is she totally silent?

I think we need to know after two months of radio silence. How much longer will this be allowed to continue?

placemats · 28/02/2024 15:42

Wouldn't it have been announced that the surgery didn't go as planned and complications happened as a result, hence the long recuperation period?

None of the timelines make sense though, especially the initial planned surgery, when future meetings had to be cancelled.

I do suspect that she had surgery a few days earlier and post operative complications happened.

Personally I had my bladder nicked when having surgery and had to have a bag for four weeks after. I didn't leave the house and spent longer in the hospital than anticipated. I was given a strap on bladder bag, but it was man sized so very difficult to hide.

But having said that I do wish Kate well in her recovery and I am not a fan of the Royal Family.

Edited for typos

Get a grip 😂

If it’s affecting you that badly maybe check in with your friends irl, for a much needed reality check

It was very interesting to see Fergie walk down with Andrew when she wasn’t sat with him.

That she was sat in the second row next to Sarah Chatto and behind Princess Anne convinces me Andrew should have been in that row with her and was shuffled forward when William pulled out.

imo they should have moved the Duke of Kent forward instead.

Aye. The Duke of K is a good ‘un.

A relative was his tank gunner at one time.

In ‘21, the Regiment had a drumhead service which incorporated a memorial to members who died during lockdown. The Duke was there and insisted on standing ramrod straight for the appropriate pints in the service, in spite of his mobility problems.

Tbh, it was more fun when discussing lack of control over bodily functions 💩

Agreed. This is just vulture-like: everyone desperate for something dramatic to have happened.

MrsLeonFarrell · 28/02/2024 15:45

I think that the Kensington Palace PR decisions are based on William's aversion to releasing private information, which I expect is a reaction to the War of the Waleses he had to live through. It looks strange because we are used to celebrities showing us every scar and putting photos from hospital beds on social media. But the senior royals are not celebrities and they don't play by those rules. KP are I think still playing by old royal rules, (Charles seems to be altering these to some extent) and time will tell if they change in the future, after all we didn't know anything much about the late Queen when she was ill

Social media, fuelled by conspiracy theories, is free to fill the vacuum with speculation but it doesn't make it true. The simplest explanation is usually correct and in this case I see no reason why it should be doubted: she had surgery, she is recovering, she'll be back to work after Easter.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if they release a statement once she is well and back to work but equally I see no reason why she should have to release private medical details if she doesn't want to.

As to Andrew, I do love seeing his arrogant, entitled face at family occasions. Every time he is opportunistic and grabs centre stage he is moving himself further away from ever taking a public role again. If he truly believes he has a way back he is delusional and it couldn't happen to a 'nicer' person.

We have spoken about this and everyone feels uneasy! It is very odd.

chagalla · 28/02/2024 15:46

I believe it's possible that Kate may have an eating disorder and that her surgery and recovery may in some way to be linked to this. If that is the case then I can imagine it would be difficult for William as his mother had similar issues.

Whatever the matter is I wish her well and hope she is recovering. However it doesn't explain why William ducked out of yesterday's service at the last minute.

JCLV · 28/02/2024 15:46

Dance54 · 28/02/2024 09:59

The condition of the Princess of Wales is likely much more serious than acknowledged by KP. Two weeks in hospital after surgery for someone young and fit, that does not include treatment for the big C, is unfortunately likely for something very severe.

If it was a security threat he wouldn’t be driven out of Windsor, which is presumably secure and has safe areas.

The palace PR seems shaky, but if it was a seasonal illness presumably they would say to avoid speculation.

But does someone seriously ill spend time hiring a new secretary? I think not. It would be the last thing to worry about.

If she was well enough to a hire a new press secretary I’m pretty sure she would be well enough to release a statement thanking well wishers for their support.

RosesAndHellebores · 28/02/2024 15:53

It is actually none of our business. KM's illness and William's absence yesterday are private matters. Meanwhile I'm going to work, doing my job, dealing with my own family, tiddling about on MNet, etc.

I wish them well but beyond that, I have my own emotional and professional life to crack on with.

They are welcome to every penny and every jewel and every Palace for the manner in which their every movement is scrutinised and gossiped over.

Poor sods I say.

Is she alive?? Oh ffs get a grip. Yeah she died in hospital and they're hoping in time we'll just forget about her & she'll never be mentioned again 🙄

Theyve said she's recuperating at home

Itll be allowed to continue until Easter I imagine when she'll resume duties as planned

Olidora · 28/02/2024 15:57

IRL I don’t actually think I have had one conversation about POW health / recovery.
Really don’t think that the general public have given it much headspace. Only media and SM seem to have theories’ / opinions !
Hope she is having quiet time recovering , not reading any of the stuff on SM and gets well soon.

A good point MrsLeonFarrell, he would have been feeling stressed and embarrassed by all the whispers at school about the very public falling out of his parents. I think he now wants to protect his young family from similar whispers.

Unfortunately the lack of information seems to be generating more speculation and talk.

Kinneddar · 28/02/2024 15:22

Can you say why Kate has been silent and MIA for months

Shes not bloody MIA. Mia would be not seen since Christmas and no explanation
We know why she's not been seen 🙄

No, we do not.
Who has seen photos of the PoW being driven into hospital, driven away from hospital, driven into Windsor Great Park/Sandringham Estate/Bucklebury Manor?
be that car or ambulance?
She could be in South Africa for all we know.
Incognito.

I suspect his short-notice absence yesterday was down to him receiving word that his royal cousin's 45 year old husband had been found dead unexpectedly.

Exactly.

I don't know anyone in RL who spends so much time wondering what is going on with the RF.

Only bored people living on MN!

I've heard my elderly Mum say she wonders what's wrong with Catherine, but that's it.

Honestly, with everything going on in the world, the wars etc, people seem obsessed with one member of the RF having to skip an event.

None of our business why, and ALL of this is fuelled by the press, TV and social media.

JustDoneItNow · 28/02/2024 16:04

The cousin died on Sunday so they would have already known about it

Has anyone seen all the kids arrive at school this morning? That would remove the speculation of "G/C/L has broken their arm/leg/collar bone"

Oh my god. You want to stalk the kids’ movements now?!? Have a word with yourself.

Really?

Given the in-laws of the man who died were at the service, that will not be the reason.

I think most people will be getting on with their own lives- work, family, elderly parents, sick partners etc and not bothering to read MN posts.
