We have this one too @RoyalIyRhubarb so ill be interested to hear the verdict

AlbertoDilemma · 06/03/2024 22:18

Cheese and ginger: a hard no from me.

Turtlerussell · 06/03/2024 22:36

If the ginger is fiery - yes

if its sweet and crystallised - a no from me

Maireas · 06/03/2024 22:37

I don't like ginger. Sort of sour yet cloying.
Cranberries go with mature cheddar very well.

RoyalIyRhubarb · 06/03/2024 22:22

https://www.wensleydale.co.uk/cheese-c20/fruity-and-savoury-blends-c39 @AlbertoDilemma This page lists all the Wensleydale flavours and they have apricot!

Thanks for the link, Rhubarb. I have had the Wensleydale version, but there was something about the Stilton with apricot that was just almost cake like. The texture maybe.

Sounds fantastic. Along with the avocado one someone mentioned recently

That was me @AliceOlive. In a cafe in Katoomba, NSW. Is all Aussie cheese that creamy? I might emigrate.

Ohpleeeease · 07/03/2024 03:46

I’m sick of reading the speculation about Kate, she needs to be left well alone, but the Waleses’ PR team have really dropped the ball on this one. All it would have taken was a stock photo of Kate smiling with a bland statement saying the POW thanks everyone for their good wishes, and the feeding frenzy would have calmed down.

Even when the great British public are acting like morons, as they did over the lowered flag when Diana died, there’s a need to acknowledge the strength of feeling and respond in some way.

Maireas · 07/03/2024 06:51

I disagree that KP "dropped the ball".
A stock picture of Kate? What good would that do? Thanks have already been expressed. There's little to be done about the endless ocean of malicious gossip, rumours and lies about a woman who has had major surgery and the temerity to request privacy.
The best thing to do, as the RF have done on other matters, is to rise above the vile behaviour and not lower themselves by validating this kind of behaviour.

ArcaneWireless · 07/03/2024 06:59

Oh please indeed.

As for strength of feeling? Mon now.

The gossip and speculation is down to the fools picking up those batons and running with them.

She shouldn’t have to justify her privacy or validate it.

She made a bastard statement.

That should be it.

Ohpleeeease · 07/03/2024 07:28

To be clear, I also think the initial statement was enough, but for some it plainly isn’t. I think it could have been handled better that’s all.

Cheeses of yore, you never see Sage Derby these days.

Maireas · 07/03/2024 07:30

How could it have been handled better?
I think people should respect others' privacy and let a woman recuperate.

Ohpleeeease · 07/03/2024 07:44

That’s exactly what I’m saying though. She should absolutely be left to recover without unpleasant speculation buzzing around her. I think a very brief message from their team might have quelled some of the madness. I would have expected that to be part of the planned comms, no need for her to have been involved at all.

Maireas · 07/03/2024 07:47

Her team cannot quell "the madness". The social media posts from assorted tinfoil hatters, misogynists, fantasists, Sussex Squadders and those republicans who just want to slag off anyone royal are really not worth validating.

AlbertoDilemma · 07/03/2024 08:23

Give the media/SM an inch and they will take a mile and keep on running. KP has set down a firm boundary and is sticking with it, and good for them. If you like and respect them, and you yourself don't need to be fed any more information, then wanting them to say something to quell the rabid speculation is just an act of appeasement - bending to the will of people who just hate them, since this is all generated hate from the SS. Appeasement never really works with these types. The goalposts will move or more likely crushed by the tank wheels of their inexhaustible, vindictive vendetta. I very much wonder if William is having real flashbacks to the insane reaction to his mother's death, and being resolute that the boundaries of his family's private life will not be compromised by the mob in the same way.

Wasn't that the sort of thing that Harry and Meghan wanted their staff to do - jump on any and every SM rumour?

RoyalIyRhubarb · 07/03/2024 08:43

Carole Malone is an absolute twat. “I know the truth but I’m not going to tell you.”

Thegreengreengrassofhomes · 07/03/2024 08:47

I do like those pineapple & walnut cream cheese rings, so sweet & spreadable… are they Danish?

I’ll be in Katoomba in a couple of weeks - any tips??

Why should the ‘morons’ be humoured? Isn’t that just enabling and encouraging ‘moronic’ behaviour? I think they’ve done the right thing ignoring it all, end of the day, once the ‘morons’ have exhausted the limits of their imagination and their Twitter typing fingers, what will they do? Why should anywhere care? The RF don’t need their votes in the future, it will blow over, and even the morons will disassociate themselves from it all and pretend they weren’t the ones hysterical about it, just like they probably did over Diana.

Yes, from everything that's been said - they wanted a response to every single ridiculous thing said anywhere.

YetMoreNewBeginnings · 07/03/2024 11:41

I think if this is something that could reoccur - which many conditions that require surgery are - the PR team did exactly the right thing by sticking to their original statement.

otherwise next time it’ll be “well they said no updates last time, but on day 23 they said x and now it’s day 24 this time so she’s fine/dying/emigrated”

I don’t think I’d like it either. There is also a lemon and honey version which sounds unappealing to me.

Tried the cranberries last night and found it a bit too sweet. I do like cheese with fruit but was surprise to find myself putting it away and getting out a sharp cheddar instead. Involuntary cheese maneuver.

Easter Bunny Cooking GIF by Super Simple

First hot cross bun of the year with butter and an extra mature cheddar for lunch.

RoyalIyRhubarb · 07/03/2024 12:50

I hope they were not the adulterated flavoured hot cross buns but a nice traditional one!
