Hello 👋, I thought it might be nice to have a thread we can discuss our cheesy feelings, food delights and general discourse about the royal family.

I’m craving buttered marmite toast now.

It’s all true! I’m being mind controlled by what I read 😆

If you do find it: Make some really good quality toast, slart it with as much butter as it can take whilst it's still hot, and then a a thin covering of the old Marmite, mixing in nicely with the butter. Hopefully your life will be changed forever.

I will report back.

Has anyone tried Aged Marmite" in the black labelled jar? I might have to resort to buying that.

Ohh milk , it's absolutely the most wonderful thing you've ever had!!!
I preferred it but can't get it round here!!! 😭😭😭

Random question. Can someone explain to me what this means?

"we're linked, not ranked"

"we're linked, not ranked"

It was on a bracelet, worn by Meghan. Showing that we don't have rank, or status, but are linked equally, like beads are linked on a bracelet.
Anti hierarchy, in a nutshell....

'We are important as you, so there! Because we are royal toooooo'

The whole basis of 'royalty' and titles such as 'Duke/Duchess' is creating ranks of people based on birth.

It is ridiculous. You either buy in or you don't. And if you buy in, you accept the rankings.

AliceOlive · 21/02/2024 18:30

Ah, Gloria Steinem.

Except their titles are based on the idea of a social hierarchy!

The titles they cling on to...

AliceOlive · 21/02/2024 18:31

I am gonna around the rest of today saying things someone smart already said.

That's what makes it fun!

wildernesssw · 21/02/2024 18:34

Exactly! Be Harry and Meghan Mountbatten-Windsor (or Markle, or Ragland, or any other surname you want). And point out the whole basis of royalty and titles is ridiculous.

Or, embrace the titles, 'just call me sir/ma'am', and accept you are smaller fry than W&C and their children

AliceOlive · 21/02/2024 18:37

I am still amazed at telling someone running an organization at CEO level that they should call a patron Sir/Ma'am. Not sure whose idea it was but it's very odd. He's the one that should be called Sir. Very odd that he spoke publicly about it, also. Makes me wonder about his background. He seemed a bit giddy.

We actually call everyone at my company by first names. I have never worked anywhere that we didn't. and... they ain't small.

Turtlerussell · 21/02/2024 18:38

Slightly off tangent, but they had enough cash money to live very well. The way they’re still using charity and fake philanthropy to boost their earning potential and remain in the spotlight is starting to really stink. Especially in light of all the recent updates. It’s just wrong. They don’t need such an ultra luxury lifestyle. And if they need that much external validation, they should have a good long hard think about that.

AliceOlive · 21/02/2024 18:39

It won't be long before we need a new thread, @jeffgoldblum . Can we bat about some potential names so you have a cheese board of options?

Do they? I decided that they have < $40M. I don't know how you could live on the income from that. I am not sure I could, even if the clothes are free. Mama needs cheese.

wildernesssw · 21/02/2024 18:42

Yes! We all know titles are important!

We must relaunch with a carefully prepared and newly-branded thread!

True, they must be really suffering...

Fromageers.com? 🤔😆

True, they must be really suffering...

at 8% that's about 3M they could spend annually and still leave a bit. House probably costs 1M between mortgage and maintenance. I think we decided security would be close to another 1M. School won't be cheap. 3M would add up quickly.

Turtlerussell · 21/02/2024 18:48

Oh if only I was poor enough to only have that much 🥹

id be having to switch from French brie to dairylea - the horror 😭

wildernesssw · 21/02/2024 18:48

The COL crisis is real.

But not for them. Hence my lack of sympathy.

Turtlerussell · 21/02/2024 18:50

They could even get regular jobs. All Harry needs is a red nose, he’s got the juggling already sorted 🤡

wildernesssw · 21/02/2024 18:52

DD asked me what I would do if I won £1 million on the Lottery (I don't play the Lottery!)

It made me think about what would be a life changing amount of money.

For me it would be £100,000-150,000. I could pay off the mortgage, or most of it, and then would have hundreds of pounds extra each month.

AliceOlive · 21/02/2024 17:22

No, I have never had it! Checking to see if I can find it locally.

In the olden days an American teenager in Europe was given Marmite inside bread and butter/margarine. A famous catchphrase was born. "Gee, gravy sandwiches".

AliceOlive · 21/02/2024 18:55

I decided about 15 years ago that I would need $4M to really make an impact. Due to inflation I would revise $10M now. It's all relative.

I am kidding but I don't begrudge them their weird lifestyle. There's a term here in US "smelling oneself" though and maybe they should give it some thought.
