So Harry flew for 11 hours and then spoke to his father for 45 minutes ? Charles then bobbed to Sandringham by helicopter and Harry checked into a hotel. I mean wouldn't you think Harry would have gone to Sandringham with Charles maybe ?

@Turtlerussell Why didn’t she bring TM over to acclimatise him to UK pre wedding? Leaving things to chance seems unlikely.

Could he be a victim of coercive control? I know someone who is & they have to do as instructed or face serious consequences? Pondering absurdity of 24 hrs in UK.

This was my thought as well! I assumed that Harry would at least spend a few days in the UK, if not a week. Since the reason this time wasn't a massive event like a funeral or coronation, he would have had every opportunity to just relax for a few days. As the parent of two small children, a break like that would be bliss. It's absolutely bonkers to touchdown for an hour and leave without even getting over the jetlag.

Any normal couple in that same situation would agree for the visiting partner to at least stay a few days. Imagine if someone opened a AIBU thread about flying 11 hrs to visit a sick parent and then returning on the same day. I cannot imagine why Harry would want do that out of his own free will. He's hardly a busy man either as all their projects are pretty much dead anyway. There is nothing in active production, there are zero deadlines or urgent timescales to attend to.

It sounds like he was forced to undertake the trip as a PR or intel collection stunt (find out exactly what is wrong with Kate and Charle's diagnosis) and return asap. Or it was done out of spite as the result of some kind of argument...eg he insisted on going, Meghan thought it was a bad idea and he arranged the trip with a ridiculous timeline to spite her. Either way, there is nothing healthy or normal about what happened. The gesture itself was commendable (visiting your dad after a serious diagnosis) but the actual sequence of events (45-12mins, return flight on same day) is inexplicably bizarre.

I would not be surprised at all if William has decided to go NC with him. Hence why he didn't even try arranging contact with them.

How do you know she is a narcissist? Is there a source for that? or is it just armchair diagnosis

Roussette · 08/02/2024 17:42

Oh heck, now Harry is being subjected to coercive control by his wife. You couldn't make it up

@User3353235 we don’t know he didn’t have something he absolutely had to be back for but it seems extraordinary. If time allowed why not see friends at least?

wildernesssw · 08/02/2024 17:44

Whatever the wedding plans, it is odd that Harry and TM had never met - surely at some point (before a wedding) your introduce your boyfriend/fiance to your parents?

Roussette · 08/02/2024 17:44

maybe spend a moment thinking it through

Maybe you should do the same. I wouldn't dream of saying someone was a narcisisst unless I knew it to be fact.
It's a pretty horrible assumption you know

OK. You have papers you have read which tells you Meghan is a narcisisst. Got it.

jeffgoldblum · 08/02/2024 17:47

@Turtlerussell didn't say Meghan was a narcissist, she was pointing out that entertainment industry people tend to be or gravitate towards that behaviour!

It's not just hypocritical though, is it @Janiie, it shows us exactly what kind of people they are. Jumping on a plane to visit the King of England after his cancer diagnosis? Hell yes! Get me on the next plane! Even if he is the father that Harry's spent the past four years slagging off. But a visit to Meghan's dad, who's been in poor health for years and nearly died of a heart attack in the days leading up their wedding? Hell no! Because they get nothing from doing that.

The difference is ££££, money , money.
Obviously Harry’s used to having money given freely to him so he needs to get back in the fold to butter up William, or he’ll be in deep doodah and Meghan won’t be able to have whatever Meghan wants 🤷🏼‍♀️

RoyallyRhubarb · 08/02/2024 17:48

And just like that.

Roussette · 08/02/2024 17:49

If that's the best you can do Turtle....

One gif of Buzz Lightyear no one found funny and I'm equivalent to a narcisisst. Got it.

User14March · 08/02/2024 17:50

@wildernesssw the danger was PH might have backtracked, possibly, as she saw it. TM’s not urbane, sophisticated. Would Harry have judged? The crowd he runs with would/do judge. Look at the way he describes the provincial master at Eton in Spare, as he sees it, etc. I’d like to think she could be proud & very confident. In reality that might have been hard.

Daisyislazy · 08/02/2024 17:50

I think the interviews and book have done irreparable damage to these relationships

Maybe look at Turtle's post of 17.22?

I don't suppose Camilla would want to see him after all the crap he spouted about her.

I am sure she could have avoided him if this was the case, not like they are living in a two up two down house with one loo where it would be impossible to avoid a house guest.
