So Harry flew for 11 hours and then spoke to his father for 45 minutes ? Charles then bobbed to Sandringham by helicopter and Harry checked into a hotel. I mean wouldn't you think Harry would have gone to Sandringham with Charles maybe ?

Harry has slagged off everyone in his family, why should he stay any longer. Plus the Royals diaries are booked up months ahead. Also, if he got wind of what’s wrong with Kate how can he be trusted not to open his rather loud mouth!

The state of the British media is ridiculous and hilarious. The sad lot are angry because the ever caring Harry played them by rushing in to see his ill dad. By so doing he turned off the oxygen of forever commentary on whether he will visit his dad or not. Today they put up an old photo of Meghan at the wheel saying she's come out of hiding. They must know by now that we know how ridiculous they are - but they don't care.

Quite the contrary, I think the media are delighted that he made a ridiculously wasteful (in terms of the environment he professes to protect) journey and was basically given short thrift all round, both by way of meeting and accommodation. He's given them another reason to laugh at him and call him a hypocrite.

Of course they are delighted. 45 mins delighted

Loads of comment which is £

Yeah i agree - he's totally played up to the image of himself being an impetuous handful, who at best just does what ever pops into his head without thinking, or at worst does things with the sole aim to whip up a bit of Harry Attention or money.

Honestly - someone who'd stirred up the shit like that with a 'tell all' book about my family wouldn't have house room. Can you imaging all sitting around with him asking how you've all been and what you've been up to? I wouldn't tell him a fucking thing! I'd be popping straight out to 'put the kettle on'. For 45 mins ....

Inkanta · 08/02/2024 12:08

Well he's gone home now. What more can the British media extract from those 45 minutes. He's back home - away from the media circus. Good on him.

They'll try! Well done him, he's visited his Dad and back with his wife and children.

Mrsjayy · 08/02/2024 12:11

yes I think he is addicted to the drama it's a total overreaction to fly in and out in 2 days.

All good for them

The media will get at least another week out the 45 mins.

The content of the conversation.
what the other royals were doing to be too busy to see him
Williams anger/regret/annoyance (probably a couple of days out of that)
Harry’s emotions.
The cost & environmental cost of Harry’s flights.

A good shit journalist will get a lot out that! 😂

@Turtlerussell He needs the negative headlines for his next victimography or documoanary.

Did you come up with those, made me laugh

Laiste · 08/02/2024 12:19

He's a complicated figure. I wouldn't know how to handle him if he was mine (i'm not old enough to be his mother but too old to be a partner - so i think of him in terms of a difficult child)

If anything i think he's missing a certain amount of the drama. Is drama the right word? I don't know. The kudos maybe? The whole sweeping around in big convoys of cars and the crowd waving. He says he hated it all, but i'm not sure that's true of ALL of it. He was very loved for a long time by the public.

Abouttimeforanamechange · 08/02/2024 12:20

The media circus that he created.

There's an article in the Mail today about Meghan 'breaking cover'

So she went out did she - in her car.

By the way has anyone seen Kate since Christmas Day?

I saw it Inkanta. I also predicted yesterday that in the next few days we would see a picture of Meghan out about with some sort of negative leaning headline attached. I also said it might be an old image, not necessarily taken today (because the media has has done that before). The media are very predictable when it comes to H&M .

Even if she did stay home like some people feel they have a right to demand (of a wiman) they can always use old shots.

I did learn today that the photographer that took the pap shots of Meghan in the market actually lives in Montecito.

I wish I was that thrilled about driving. Or that delighted with my coffee. I need to improve my hot drink game. I so rarely see anyone beaming at the wheel of their car like that.

Wow, In the Mirror today, Lady Colin Campbell states Prince Harry just booked the plane, got on then told King Charles office he was on the way. Harry's audience with King Charles and Queen Camilla lasted just 12 minutes. So he flew over 20,000 miles and didn't even get 1 minute for each thousand miles. Charles couldn't discuss much about his illness in case it ended up in a future book or Netflix by Harry. It was also claimed that William has now disowned Harry.

Yes I’m not sure either, I think it is all about the double act. The two of them together, which is ultimately deeply problematic.

harry really wasn’t fussed about fame and fortune before Megan, let’s be honest, here, if anything he hated the spotlight, and as much as he did red carpets or different events it was always as a working royal. He wanted to be left alone to do his own weird ass thing.

it is Megan who wants to be famous. Megan who loves the camera and the publicity.

I do think on balance it was Harry who decided to come over, an error of judgment which was self indulgent and lacked both foresight and empathy for his father, he did it as he wanted to. Maybe a sense of panic, maybe just entitlement,

i think it was Megan who decided to publicise it. Put out the statement, let the media know his travel plans. They then tried to have him come back under the radar , so folks couldn’t spot how much of a pr disaster it was.

2 long haul flights in 2 days for a meeting that lasted a max of 20-30 mins in reality, it wasn’t 45 mins, that’s simply the amount of time Harry was in there. It’s not a semi detached where it’s a 30 second walk to the private rooms. It’s a few mins walk back and forward , and Charles and Camilla had to then make their way to the helicopter.

The reports of it being 12 mins meeting are likely correct.

Which is just ludicrous really. Not from just the carbon foot print cost , but the cost of rhe motorcade to the public, the time, the first class flight costs, the transport, the whole thing, it is utterly ludicrous he did that to spend a max of a few mins with Charles and Camilla.

and I understand it was Charles and Camilla, his father did not see him alone.

I think Lady Colin is about as reliable as a DM unnamed source.

No-one is going to trust her with information given she leaks even more regularly than Omid Scobie

Puzzledandpissedoff · 08/02/2024 12:50

What more can the British media extract from those 45 minutes

Hopefully nothing, unless of course Scobie's fed another story about whatever happened while Harry was here

I'd hope that on this at least Harry might keep schtum, but then he didn't have to announce his visit either, and if worried about criticism could quite well have said he'd been to see dad afterwards - and as already said, it would have saved the endless speculation over the number of minutes

caringcarer · 08/02/2024 12:51

CurlewKate · 07/02/2024 08:40

@HairyToity
L"couldn't help but think he should have asked his dad when suited for him to travel, and been slightly less hasty."

You know he didn't exactly how?

It's reported in the Mirror newspaper Harry decided to come to UK without telling the King. Then when on his flight he rang the Kings office to say he was on his way. He got a 12 minute audience with King Charles who was tired after his treatment and just wanted to fly to Sandringham to rest but after being told Harry was on his way had to delay his helicopter for almost 2 hours to speak with Harry, for 12 minutes.

reclaimmyboobs · 08/02/2024 12:51

Shouldn’t her full name be Lady Colin Campbell Citation Needed. She’s a workyticket and will obviously say whatever sells: “Harry visited for 12 minutes” is a far juicier story than “Harry and Charles had a reasonable conversation that was neither brief and unfriendly nor effusive and forgiving”.
