So Harry flew for 11 hours and then spoke to his father for 45 minutes ? Charles then bobbed to Sandringham by helicopter and Harry checked into a hotel. I mean wouldn't you think Harry would have gone to Sandringham with Charles maybe ?

And that's why he's flown over

@Nathroom

Are you talking about Charles interviews and books about his parents or Harry's?

Yolo12345 · 07/02/2024 19:02

Harry is not his son...that's my guess anyway...

FGS, not this again. How many times does it have to be pointed out that he is and the reasons he is?

Did he book with Travalyst?

I imagine you were being ironic, @IcedPurple, but just checked and saw that no accounts have been filed for Travalyst since June 2022, so I have to wonder if, after delivering a few headlines for Harry, it's moribund now

Anyway he's gone back, and as far as we know didn't follow Charles to Sandringham (even if he'd gone by helicopter someone would have seen another one land) so god knows why he bothered instead of just videocalling his dad

I see One Love had its LA premiere last night. Strange that Harry and Meghan took a 7 hour flight, presumably by private jet, to go to a premiere in another country when the same film was going to premiere in their own backyard 2 weeks later.

Between that, and this latest lightning LA to London round trip, the founder of 'Travalyst' has certainly earned his air miles these past few weeks. I guess sustainable travel is for the plebs.

Not a Diana fan?

@Yolo12345 there is a family resemblance to his grandad, so not sure what you are suggesting

I don't doubt that Harry is Charles' son, but I don't see the resemblance to Philip at all. Philip was much more handsome and finer featured.

Jl2014 · 07/02/2024 19:22

Harry making all the effort. Charles making none as usual.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 07/02/2024 18:10

Harry has had a rough time as the child to those parents

And there comes a point - say, around age 40 - when you come to terms with it and realise that you can't keep blaming your parents all your life, you have to take responsibility for the person you are.

And the counselling lady might point out that although your parents were awful they didn't do too bad a job bringing you up, after all.

crumblingschools · 07/02/2024 19:24

@Jl2014 what effort were you expecting Charles to make? He is having treatment for cancer, did you expect him to pop over to America to see Harry. It's not like Harry is very busy.

Might have skipped your notice, but Charles has just had a surgical procedure and a cancer diagnosis. I'd imagine that mentally and physically he's a tiny bit preoccupied right now (was going to say wee bit but then thought 'prostate issues, nope, maybe not.')

Very well put, MrsD ...

I would have thought that Charles' plans to travel to Sandringham were pretty much set in stone, as it was the anniversary of the date of his grandfather's death and mother's succession to the throne. She always spent that date at Sandringham (where her father died), so it would not be unreasonable for Charles to follow that tradition. You'd have hoped Harry would have realised the significance of the date, but maybe not.

Yep my thoughts too. I love Harry and all his truth bombs.

Thunderbird7 · 07/02/2024 19:50

KC’s statement emphasised that he hopes & expects to make a full recovery.

Harry, probably pre-empting some bad press, as a pure publicity dash got the first flight out and made everyone think the King was actually at death’s door, completely obliterating the King’s own carefully put together messaging.

Then presumably Harry got here and suddenly remembered “oh yeah - dad is the King and going through treatment and probably has quite a tight schedule actually… oh and also I’ve insulted pretty much everyone he loves.”

So he had an awkward <45 minutes, KC escaped on the chopper, and off Harry goes home. All a bit pointless really. But where would we be without Sussex melodrama.

Exactly. Bloody hell poor old Harry not

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 07/02/2024 20:05

Well, I'm looking forward to yet another translation in yet another foreign edition of yet another book.

Butteredtoast55 · 07/02/2024 20:09

You can almost imagine the copy:
I went immediately to the UK, hoping that this would be a chance for us to reconnect. I found Pa looking tired and pale, and it was clear he'd been through a rough time. The conversation was amicable but guarded and once again I knew that they were just not going to let me in. I was on the outside.
I had hoped to see Willy and his wife to see if they were ready to give the apology that could help us move on, but their people blocked me. I wondered why it was me making all the effort and getting nothing in return. Just as always.

Butteredtoast55 · 07/02/2024 20:11

If I were in QC's shoes I'd feel constantly judged and like anything and everything that was said or done could end up in the next book. When you're helping your husband through cancer treatment, I think you can probably do without that.
But....I really hope they can reconnect. Family feuds are horrible.

Excellent work! You missed a bit though: I had hoped to see Willy and his wife to see if they were ready to give the apology I deserve for being made to confess to Omid Scobie that she was the racist Royal that could help us move on, but their people blocked me.
