Just announced on the bbc, doesn’t say what sort yet. Hope he’s going to be ok.

On the other hand, something like this can also add even more resentment about all the unnecessary stress caused, I expect Charles will be forgiving, but maybe the rest of the family won't feel the same..

EdithWeston · 05/02/2024 18:43

I'd assumed (wrongly) it would be prostate when I saw a pop up about it.

Whatever it is, I hope the treatments are not too gruelling and there is a good chance of recovery

Augustus40 · 05/02/2024 18:44

I have always liked our king. I wish him well.

LillythePinky · 05/02/2024 18:45

It's quite odd that it was only discovered during his prostate treatment.

It's fair to assume that he would be having regular check ups and screening anyway ( 'Well Man' checks) annually, or even more often. And especially if he had any hint of symptoms.

It looks as if it was something symptomless, but has been found during surgery.

They same to be forgiving enough of Andrew

BBC are talking about the counsellors of State who are meant to step up if the king is unwell and it’s the 4 adults next in line , which sadly includes Harry and Andrew!

I read that they weren't part of the contingency who should step up.

It's very sad news. Unfortunately cancer is a vile undiscrimitory disease.

I wish him well in his treatment and every success with it.

@Mothership4two
It's not prostrate cancer.. that was benign.. it's another kind.. not been announced yet.

That's what I said.

I thought he went in for an enlarged prostate (which FIL had) not potential cancer.

LillythePinky · 05/02/2024 18:49

In some ways I hope he will say what it is, if it helps others to have screening because surely he didn't have symptoms ?

It must be something symptomless that was only discovered when doing his operation and not picked up at any other time because he would be having regular checks for all kinds of things.

CarolinaInTheMorning · 05/02/2024 18:50

So sorry to hear this news. I wish the King well.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 05/02/2024 18:51

Obviously nobody well most of us don’t wish him ill but I certainly don’t expect him to be king for a long time personally

At 75 he's never going to be doing the job for that long, but certainly agree about not wishing him ill; admittedly I'm no fan but that would be horrible

Hadn't heard myself that William's "returning to duties on Wednesday", but I don't suppose he has much choice this time - though it's a shame this happened while Kate's recuperating

Veronicaisaflower · 05/02/2024 18:51

Well, he is an old man and old people get ill 🤷‍♀️. Let's hope his family gets to keep him a bit longer.

Outofideas79 · 05/02/2024 18:57

All those talking about King Harry. He's pretty far from the throne now. Something would have to go spectacularly wrong to the 4 ahead of him (William, and the 3 kids) to put him inline. As well, he's no longer a working royal. Neither is Andrew, so the counsellors of state who will need to step in during the Kings absence will be Camilla, William, Anne and Edward.

Didn’t Nostradamus predict this (and also predicted there will be King Harry)!

We’ve already had eight fucking Harry’s.

Harrys.

ajandjjmum · 05/02/2024 18:59

I think William is at a fundraiser tonight, and then picking up normal duties on Wednesday. Hope the Middletons are available to swoop in and care for the DC - it must be very frightening for them, particularly as George and Charlotte are at ages where their questions can't be fobbed off. They've only recently lost their Great Grandparents.

Not in 2024, as the prediction states, we haven’t.

jeffgoldblum · 05/02/2024 18:59

It's a bit morbid and nasty to be proclaiming king Harry right now! .

jeffgoldblum · 05/02/2024 19:01

Especially as for it to happen it would involve the death of his father , his brother and three innocent children!

Mothership4two · 05/02/2024 19:04

Unless William stepped down which I presume would take his children out of the line of procession? Not that that will happen. And KC also stepped down, which is more feasible.

Mojodojocasahaus · 05/02/2024 19:05

Ah I feel sorry for the fella, waited all his life to have a crack at the top job and gets cancer in the first year. Hopefully they’ve caught it early. He will certainly get the very best treatment

BlackLabradors · 05/02/2024 19:06

All those wondering how Kate will cope with william going back to normal duties. You know she has a houseful of Nanny’s, cleaners and general lookers after. Plus the means to bring in additional help as required. It’s not like if it happened to you or I.

dontcallmelen · 05/02/2024 19:06

woodlandtrees · 05/02/2024 18:39

My DH was diagnosed with bladder cancer . They took out the tumour but then blasted him with chemo radiotherapy- the latter wiped him out.

18 months later tumour returned - bladder taken out.

A shocking diagnosis and awful disease. So indiscriminate.

@woodlandtrees im very sorry this happened to your husband agree it’s indiscriminate & an awful disease, my husband was very lucky he had the treatment I pp had yearly check ups for 10 years no reoccurrence I hope you & yours are well 💐

that isnt my thinking, it is the emotional stress and family worry

Edited

No. If William were to give up his place in the Line of 'Procession' it wouldn't affect his children. George would be next in line.

Ewoklady · 05/02/2024 19:08

Thinking of him and to all those affected by cancer. Horrible disease.
