Just announced on the bbc, doesn’t say what sort yet. Hope he’s going to be ok.

BBC news reported that they've 'caught it early' and he's expected to have a good outcome. So all things being equal, he should be ok.

Ochrecushion · 05/02/2024 18:31

Sorry to hear Charles has cancer. I hope it’s been caught early and he responds well to treatment. I hope we’re not going to have endless speculation on here while all the nosey nellies offer their opinions on what type of cancer. It’s only just subsided after speculation about what surgery was performed on Kate.

dontcallmelen · 05/02/2024 18:31

If it is bladder cancer, usually when caught early tumours are moved surgically & no radiotherapy or chemotherapy is required if tumours keep reoccurring they can direct chemo into the bladder, side effects are minimal.
I wish him well & hopefully he will make a full recovery from whatever cancer he has been diagnosed with.

GrouchyKiwi · 05/02/2024 18:32

Hopefully they've caught it fairly early. I'd imagine he'd have regular check ups for this kind of thing anyway.

Glad Harry's coming to see him.

EasternStandard · 05/02/2024 18:32

Oh my goodness just heard this on the radio

Moier · 05/02/2024 18:32

@Mothership4two
It's not prostrate cancer.. that was benign.. it's another kind.. not been announced yet.

kirinm · 05/02/2024 18:31

Why does that matter? Harry isn't allowed to see his dad because it'll upset William?

I never said that ! Of course he can see his father ( if Charles wants to see him) But I can’t imagine any cosy chats with other members of the family .

whatsappdoc · 05/02/2024 18:33

Last year it was announced Beatrice would be one of the 'reserve team'. So Anne, Edward, William, Beatrice. No need to froth over Harry or Andrew.

Sidebeforeself · 05/02/2024 18:33

Why are people coming on here and saying things like ‘My granny has it and lived till she was 100”?? What relevance is that at all? Every cancer affects people differently. It’s such an insensitive thing to say.

I don’t agree with the existence of a Royal Family but I have nothing against the individuals themselves and wish them the best

not sure if it is going to be announced

garlicandsapphires · 05/02/2024 18:34

I’ve thought that he looked pale in recent photos but assumed that was make up to cover his usual ruddy complexion.

YetMoreNewBeginnings · 05/02/2024 18:34

Counsellors of State work in pairs so having Camilla, William, Anne and Edward has plenty of scope.

They could also add on the Duke of Gloucester if necessary.

Spouse of the monarch can also act as CoS so you don’t even need Beatrice to make up the four.

Apparently Harry is flying over to see his father which is lovely for Charles but I imagine other family members may not feel the same .

So what? That is their problem. I would not have even given the thought any head space.

Why would he see them? They don't all live in the same place! My sister doesn't live with my parents, so if one of them got a diagnosis and was being treated as an out-patient, as the King is, I wouldn't expect to see her when I went to visit.

Yes thats a common cancer for elderly men including having benign tumors in teh bladder

Froth ? Who is frothing and what does that look like ?

Well it's a great deal more sensitive than saying 'my grandfather had it and died 4 weeks later.'

itsmyp4rty · 05/02/2024 18:36

I'm glad Harry has flown straight over, sometimes it takes something like this to bring people back together.

crumpet · 05/02/2024 18:37

Mylovelygreendress · 05/02/2024 18:25

William is returning to official duties on Wednesday.
I think this shows that the COS issue should have been properly sorted out I.e Andrew and Harry removed rather than fudging it by saying they can remain but not be used .

It has been sorted out.

Moliross · 05/02/2024 18:38

It is very sad but the news that Harry is flying to see his father is good news. Sometimes it takes something like this for families to reunite. And at the end of the day they are a family and he is a dad, grandfather and brother.

My DH was diagnosed with bladder cancer . They took out the tumour but then blasted him with chemo radiotherapy- the latter wiped him out.

18 months later tumour returned - bladder taken out.

A shocking diagnosis and awful disease. So indiscriminate.

Well they need to suck it up his father is ill he has every right to visit

Sidebeforeself · 05/02/2024 18:41

@MeinKraft True!!😁

BestBadger · 05/02/2024 18:42

He's been off Royal duties since he went in a couple of weeks ago, as has William since his wife went in.

It's almost like whatever they actually do makes absolutely no difference.
