@LillythePinky there are a number of cancers that often have no real symptoms such as colorectal or pancreatic cancer, as well as cancers with vague symptoms. It is just as well it was detected at a treatable stage.

All those wondering how Kate will cope with william going back to normal duties. You know she has a houseful of Nanny’s, cleaners and general lookers after. Plus the means to bring in additional help as required. It’s not like if it happened to you or I.

Plus her own (obviously very close) family

If they're not around to help out I'll be absolutely amazed

Mothership4two · 05/02/2024 19:10

I think he's had quite a bit of responsibility (that he didn't actually earn as such, just saying) and seems to have had a good life - not without trials and tribulations ,but haven't we all?

Unless William stepped down which I presume would take his children out of the line of procession? Not that that will happen. And KC also stepped down, which is more feasible.

Edited

William stepping aside wouldn’t change anything for his children.

The only way the Wales children would drop out of the line of succession (barring future changes) would be if they were christened Catholic.

So what? That is their problem. I would not have even given the thought any head space.

Exactly. He's coming over to see his father and hopefully go some way to reconciliation. Who cares what Aunty Anne or anyone else thinks?

Hels20 · 05/02/2024 19:11

I strongly doubt Kate has any more Nannies than one nanny - Maria Borello. With all her early years work, she would know multiple care givers are not good for children. But she has her mother and father and I expect Pippa has been popping in.

wordler · 05/02/2024 19:12

Re the Nostradamus prediction it doesn’t name a ‘Harry’ it suggests that ‘a man who never expected to be King’ would come to the throne.

Sounds more likely to be that weird Australian bloke who claims he’s the son of Charles and Camilla.

Now that would be a plot twist.

Your presumption is misplaced.

You can only step down for yourself, and for any future hypothetical unborn DC (who would be born after the abdication - this is in effect what Edward VIII did, no DC at the time of the abdication and any hypothetical future DC whether with Mrs Simpson or a hypothetical subsequent spouse would never join the succession)

George, Charlotte and Louis exist, and their place in the succession cannot be revoked by anyone else. Nor can they abdicate for themselves until they are of age.

So if William stepped down, we have King George for at least 8 years. But he would require a Regent, which brings its own difficulties.

I really don't see William doing that.

Mothership4two · 05/02/2024 19:15

Thanks for everyone answering my ponderence which was hypothetical 👏

BlackLabradors · 05/02/2024 19:15

What’s going to happen to George in 8 years 🧐

Sammysquiz · 05/02/2024 19:16

If it was discovered during prostate surgery then it will most likely be bladder cancer.

He would be old enough to step down himself if he wished I presume.

Last year it was announced Beatrice would be one of the 'reserve team'. So Anne, Edward, William, Beatrice. No need to froth over Harry or Andrew.

There has been no mention of Beatrice on the news tonight

BlackLabradors · 05/02/2024 19:18

BBC said if needed William, Harry, Andrew and Beatrice are the people who would step up to cover.

If the BBC said that they're massively wrong and have forgotten the update.

They've even missed that the Queen is CoS.

It's Camilla, William, Anne and Edward since the amendments

notthatthis · 05/02/2024 19:20

It's not prostate. His reign will be short.

I'm watching ITV news and they haven't mentioned Beatrice

Littlegoth · 05/02/2024 19:21

Doseofreality · 05/02/2024 18:59

Not in 2024, as the prediction states, we haven’t.

Sort of have. Harry would be King Henry IX.

Not that I think it will ever happen.

Not in their online report they are saying it will be Camilla, William, Anne and Edward

Charles and Camilla

King Charles III diagnosed with cancer, Buckingham Palace says

The King "remains wholly positive about his treatment" which began on Monday, says Buckingham Palace.

noideamate · 05/02/2024 19:22

@Hels20 she has one nanny and other childcare assistants to help out.

YetMoreNewBeginnings · 05/02/2024 19:22

Although to be fair to the BBC even the royal family website hasn't actually updated and lists the CoS as only being William, Harry, Andrew and Beatrice.

Lattes · 05/02/2024 19:22

BeachSideSurfShack · 05/02/2024 18:19

How can William realistically step up when his wife's just come out of hospital after major surgery?

I will be having major surgery in a few months and my DD is a baby. My DP will still go to work. Kate will have lots of staff to do the childcare, cleaning, cooking etc. William can still work.

Wherediditgoto · 05/02/2024 19:23

Roussette · 05/02/2024 18:28

Just incidentally... I'm watching the news, and they did some footage of him and it struck me how much he looked like his father, I've never seen that before till now.

Ive really been noticing that too. I also thought he looked dreadful at the Coronation. He just doesn't look well generally. What an awful time what with Kate recovering and now this. Poor Camilla and William.

GuinnessBird · 05/02/2024 19:23

I wonder if they know more than they're letting on, particularly as Harry is flying over pretty much immediately.

Angrycat2768 · 05/02/2024 19:23

YetMoreNewBeginnings · 05/02/2024 19:19

Why would it require 4 people to do the job? Surely The Queen would step up, and maybe William. Even Charles's job as Head if State makes no material difference to anything.
