.... They won't....

I know!

Roussette · 05/02/2024 21:09

No, I won't PM you. No thanks. I am on a thread about King Charles and his health.

Here's a link for you to feast your eyes on. I won't be responding again.

Yeah even the most negative pages I’ve found still say they bring in like at least £1 per person in the uk vs the cost of 77p person so by those very negative figures it’s still a win. Others state it costs £5.50 a person but brings in £8.50 per person.

Would be good to have. Proper proper fact checked costings.

OhmygodDont · 05/02/2024 21:14

hmmmm at that link to say as such.

Didn’t Nostradamus predict this (and also predicted there will be King Harry)!

Who’s that?

I wouldn’t be surprised if all the stress over the Harry/Meghan business, especially coupled with the Queen dying, has brought it on.

I certainly know of two people who’d suffered extreme stress or grief shortly before developing cancer.

🙄🙄Didnt take long for someone to blame Harry and Meghan for the kings Cancer

Mylovelygreendress · 05/02/2024 20:57

They wouldn’t exactly be slumming it in economy then staying in a Travel lodge ! It would be nice for Charles to see his grandchildren.,

Maybe not as soon as hes been diagnosed with cancer and someone who is a complete stranger to them. It will be a stressful situation as it is without two toddlers there.

OhmygodDont · 05/02/2024 21:15

The duchy is private in believe not public.

The money the crown take back from
the money it gives was part
of the signing over powers and an agreement to fund things was it not.

Inkanta · 05/02/2024 21:16

Good for you Roussette. You draw your line in the sand 💪

Blimey, give the doctors a chance! My nan had cancer in her seventies and lived to 93. Bear in mind he'll have world class treatment too.

My Dm did too, and went on to 97, albeit with dementia for her last 15 or so. 🙁

The Sovereign Grant is a pot of money the government hands over to the Royal Households to run their palaces, offices etc.

Direct funds generated by the Royals (eg entry to palaces etc) is then given to the government. The total sovereign grant for 23/24 was £86million, or £1.30 per person in the UK. The crown estate hands all generated income back to the government, and the stats on that ks £3billion over the last 10 years, or £300,000,000 per year (on average)

The king has taken a reduced Sovereign Grant this year, reduced in line with the money his wind farms have generated. So he is now partially funding the Royal households with the Sovereign grant and partially with his own generated income (the wind farms).

If this pattern of grant ve spending continues, it means for every £1.00 the govt hands out to the Crown Estate to run it all, they get about £3.50 back.

Just for those wanting the actual stats.

Loads of people do well after a cancer diagnosis at his age.

However, he isn't exactly brimming over with good health generally, so who knows.

How do you know he doesn't have good general health? It's never normally talked about. However we do know he takes diet and exercise seriously.

Of course Kate has cooks and cleaners and people doing food shopping etc and nannies , all this nonsense on tv as well about William looking after her

It's so funny really because we are all led to believe there marriages are fairy tale . But I often like the imagine like the rest of us that they frequently tell each other to fuck off under their breath 😂. We must not forget they are all human and Kate probably decamps to the spare room to get some fucking sleep .

Roussette · 05/02/2024 21:23

I don't think of their marriages as fairy tales, not in the slightest. They have the added pressure of public scrutiny. What they do have in their favour is space. Space to avoid each other if they want to. Gyms, swimming pools, grounds to roam in etc. That bit is wonderful. The rest not so much.

Mylovelygreendress · 05/02/2024 21:25

wubwubwub · 05/02/2024 21:03

Would you take your little kids half way across the world to see a grandparent for a day or two? They're like 4 and 2... I wouldn't do that just personally... Eve. If their Grampa was the King of England. If it was apparent he was on his way out, then maybe,if I knew I'd be there for a week or two or more, then sure.

But not for a flying visit where my Dad is ill and things are unknown, and I might just need to have a quiet time with my dad, without having to worry about the kids being tired/jet lagged/away from home etc.

Firstly , Charles is not the King of England .
Secondly , they could turn it into a wee holiday , meet up with Beatrice and Eugenie ? Friends ? Who said Harry would only stay a couple of days ?

RememberingItAll · 05/02/2024 20:07

They are greedy for power and for money.

And the rest of the Royals aren’t? 🙃

The royals have GOT power and money.

Idontpostmuch · 05/02/2024 21:27

marshmallowfinder · 05/02/2024 18:58

Harrys.

Harries 😁

Thunderbird7 · 05/02/2024 21:27

It’s hard to look at Harry’s actions in a generous light

SweetBirdsong · 05/02/2024 21:28

RingOnAString · 05/02/2024 20:49

Can you share the stats to back this up? Every single thing I’ve read says they bring in more revenue than they cost to support. So I’d love to see the figures that it’s a myth? Thanks

It's true. The Royal Family DO bring in way more than they cost.

A quick google search will tell you.

While the average annual cost for UK taxpayers in royal upkeep comes to around £500m a year, Brand Finance estimates the monarchy's brand contributes £2.5bn to the British economy in the same timeframe.

It's a well documented fact that RF haters can't bear to admit is true. It is NOT 'a myth.' 🙄 The haters just want to believe that.

It’s a shame it takes a diagnosis like this to motivate him to actually go and see his father.

Idontpostmuch · 05/02/2024 21:30

CurrentHun · 05/02/2024 19:58

I really hope he’s OK. Nice that the BBCsays that princes are speaking to him and seeing him in person. Maybe they can all put all the infighting behind them and live and let live a bit as a family now. I’m sure there’s been many wrongs on all sides but ultimately things might have been brought into perspective by ill health.

Also I hope Kate is OK, poor thing.

Really good post and balanced in a way we rarely see on MN when Harry vs the other Royals is mentioned.

Londonrach1 · 05/02/2024 21:34

Harry coming back. Don't think Charles are very good.

Okay, except that this information is not up to date.

The royal family provide an annual report on their outgoings. You can easily see what they cost 2022/2023 (£105m).

From what I can understand it’s impossible to estimate what they actually earn due to the fact that how they ‘earn’ is so varied - from the money they bring in directly to the tourism they generate.

However an independent financial company calculated it as around £1.7bn on 2022.

Thats
£1.7bn income
vs
£105m expenditure.

And that’s from official royal accounts for outgoings and an independent assessment (granted it’s an estimate) for income.
vs a republican out of date website.

Sorry, but it’s not enough to sway your argument.

Roussette · 05/02/2024 21:35

It's a well documented fact that RF haters can't bear to admit is true

Who hates them? I don't, I don't hate anybody, literally no one.

As for tourism, it's irrelevant. France managed to bring in 67billion euros in 2023. Errrmm... without a Monarchy. If you think that our tourism revenue is solely based on catching a glimpse of the top of Charles's head, you're somewhat mistaken. Tourism would happen without a Royal Family.

ferntwist · 05/02/2024 21:36

Does anyone have information on what kind of cancer it might be? (Obviously they’ve said it’s not prostate.)

Wishing him a speedy recovery
