If it is prostate cancer that has spread, it’s most likely to his bones.

It’s not.

BBC are talking about the counsellors of State who are meant to step up if the king is unwell and it’s the 4 adults next in line , which sadly includes Harry and Andrew!

Harry isn't counselor of state, nor is Andrew any more.

Mylovelygreendress · 05/02/2024 20:47

According to a source close to Harry , he is travelling over alone . Wonder who the source is ?? Hmmm

listsandbudgets · 05/02/2024 20:48

Poor Queen Camilla Flowers. They've been through so much to end up together. She must be distraught - and now she's got to step up to royal duty while also supporting him with the eyes of the world on her.

Awful for William and Harry too.

It's hard enough when a member of your family is seriously ill surely far harder when everyone is watching and speculating

Sad
SecondUsername4me · 05/02/2024 20:48

Anne can deputise surely, in the interim, til Kate is back on her feet at which point William can step back up.

It brings in more money than it costs

A myth

Can you share the stats to back this up? Every single thing I’ve read says they bring in more revenue than they cost to support. So I’d love to see the figures that it’s a myth? Thanks

Harry.

Of course he's not going to drag his kids half way across the world for this meeting.

Technically they still are.

Charles wanted the Act to be amended to be only working royals. However, instead of removing anyone Anne and Edward were added (I believe this was a quicker process) for the duration of Charles' lifetime.

The intention is only to use working royals. In dire emergency Harry, Andrew and Beatrice are still technically on the list.

Andrew should be struck off

There is so so much out there. I would be derailing the thread if I did lots of links now. I've done them in the past on MN.

Can make a good guess at what cancer. Likely picked up on blood tests pre op and can be mostly asymptomatic and common in older men. Quite “treatable” but not necessarily curable in that most who have it end up dying from something else longer term.

Ah the classic "it's all there if you Google it" responses of someone who can't back up their claims properly...

Fair enough.

They wouldn’t exactly be slumming it in economy then staying in a Travel lodge ! It would be nice for Charles to see his grandchildren.,

Quite, there's Camilla, William, Anne and Edward that can step in.

Disagree. If it had been picked up pre-op, they would have investigated. More likely to be something found during surgery. Eg, a friend of mine had their appendix out, and during that surgery they discovered he had stage 4 bowel cancer.

I’ve Googled and I can only see information that supports the fact they do bring in more than they cost?

I didn't mention google. You did.

Really? I often think old people aren’t very keen on very small children.

BreakfastAtMilliways · 05/02/2024 20:59

Re the Nostradamus prediction it doesn’t name a ‘Harry’ it suggests that ‘a man who never expected to be King’ would come to the throne.

Who could just as easily have been Harry’s great-grandfather. Or Victoria’s uncle, William IV. Or some future king of Spain. Let’s face it, Nostradamus is the Rorschach ink blot of prophecy.

Would you take your little kids half way across the world to see a grandparent for a day or two? They're like 4 and 2... I wouldn't do that just personally... Eve. If their Grampa was the King of England. If it was apparent he was on his way out, then maybe,if I knew I'd be there for a week or two or more, then sure.

But not for a flying visit where my Dad is ill and things are unknown, and I might just need to have a quiet time with my dad, without having to worry about the kids being tired/jet lagged/away from home etc.

I don’t think anyone would mind you derailing the thread with a few links.

As I said I’ve just Googled and everything I can see that’s reputable says they bring in more than they cost.

I’m not a huge royalist, one of the reasons I am happy for them to continue is the way the finances swing so I’d be genuinely interested to see the stats.
