Meghan, Duchess of Sussex spotted out and about, part 3

Part 3 of a nice, unproblematic thread to discuss some of the fab outfits from the Duchess of Sussex, and some of the many great causes she (and Harry) and Archewell supports. h/t @queentim for the original threads.

I really liked this outfit and the way the skirt flowed as she walked - really good choice and quite pared back compared to some other people on the red carpet.

Come now, it’s not that confusing! 😊 A direct comparison between Lady Louise’s choice of attire on the slopes (which met my approval) and Meghan’s (which didn’t).

I have a couple of patterned summer dresses that I love wearing but they come out of the machine completely creased. I've given up on taming one of them and wear it as the-crinkled-cotton-look, think I actually get away with it. I no longer wear stuff that's a pain to iron as I don't really do ironing but presumably this is one worry that Meghan doesn't have!

Flowery dresses always make me look as if I've just come from Little House on the Prairie

Roussette · 03/03/2024 17:44

Nah...it was just your chance to knock Meghan
I don't s'pose she's too worried about your 'approval' lol

The boots are fab

skullbabe · 03/03/2024 19:27

She’s my new favourite: accomplished and modest.

Glad to know it. You should start a thread 😍

They are lovely boots, always struggle to find ones ro fit as I have larger calves 😒

skullbabe · 03/03/2024 21:08

The one wonderful thing about life is that it’s ok to like and do different things - life would be really boring if we were all the same.

I love those boots. They would suit me because I have very petite legs and no calves. I'm not keen on the cape jacket thing I prefer that Calvin Klein cream one.

ArcaneWireless · 04/03/2024 16:15

The boots are lush but I would need the heifer version.

😂 I tell you what, you could carry off that cape jacket thing. I'd look like I was cosplaying Sherlock Holmes, and not in a good way.

ArcaneWireless · 04/03/2024 16:21

You would think M but I’m very large of nork and anything swathed makes me look like scaffolding covered in tarpaulin.

I think it looks grand on her though. I’d quite like to see her in a vibrant version.

Maireas · 04/03/2024 16:23

Yes, I don't know why she wears beige so much. She can carry off bright colours. Like when she was a working royal, and wore that bright yellow shift dress, (one of my favourite looks) and the purple and red outfit. I love a bit of colour.

ArcaneWireless · 04/03/2024 16:33

I can’t talk as I’m always in pretty safe colours. (Black, navy, deep olive)

But she suits colour. I’d have to disagree on yellow though. I’d a budgie that colour.

It doesn’t belong on anything else with two legs.

Maireas · 04/03/2024 16:37

Ah, don't you remember that dress? I loved it. You'd look fine in yellow, it's cheery!

ArcaneWireless · 04/03/2024 16:40

Have you a pic M? I can’t recall.

I always think M looks fabulous in a 50s style frock.

I’d look cheery in yellow? Yes. I’d also get humped by big bird if I dropped my guard. 😔

AliceOlive · 04/03/2024 16:45

I love that style of dress. CK actually makes a ton of them in different colors and with different embellishments. I have one in black with an offset zipper in the front.

ArcaneWireless · 04/03/2024 16:45

Fair enough. ☺️

That neckline looks smashing on her.

AliceOlive · 04/03/2024 16:46

I find the headline weird:

Meghan Markle bids demure style farewell, wearing slinky yellow dress with side slit

Maireas · 04/03/2024 16:47

Yes, a slash neckline does suit her.
She wore a purple dress with a red coat (or the other way round) and I thought it was striking, colourwise, but it worked well.

ArcaneWireless · 04/03/2024 16:49

I think it is relatively demure. As said, the neckline is delightful.

That dress would be an absolute nightmare to walk in if there wasn’t a split.

It isn’t as though she is showing her drawers.

I know! The usual nonsense. I think it was very fitted and had a slit, but hardly made her look like Jezebel.

puddlehopper · 04/03/2024 16:54

Her style was fabulous then, I always admired what she wore, I think that's when Jessica Mulroney was helping to style her, she rarely had a bad outfit then, plus they were tailored properly (and ironed).
