Meghan, Duchess of Sussex spotted out and about, part 3

Part 3 of a nice, unproblematic thread to discuss some of the fab outfits from the Duchess of Sussex, and some of the many great causes she (and Harry) and Archewell supports. h/t @queentim for the original threads.

I really liked this outfit and the way the skirt flowed as she walked - really good choice and quite pared back compared to some other people on the red carpet.

Again, you haven't actually answered the question of what you get from being on a thread that clearly isn't for you/wasn't created with you in mind.

Coronateachingagain · 01/03/2024 23:50

Equally I wonder also is what you get out of it. Some fashion tips perhaps. Maybe something else.

RestingPassportFace · 01/03/2024 23:57

I like fan threads. I like happy posters. I like looking at photos. My rationale - positive news rather than doomscrolling. Now you.

Coronateachingagain · 02/03/2024 00:01

Hmmmm do you have other aliases? I don't

Coronateachingagain · 02/03/2024 00:06

Also - I am a complete loner ranger - no strings no connection. Independent. Ha. Wonder how many can say that here.

RestingPassportFace · 02/03/2024 00:07

I'm sequins on the Strictly threads. Glitterball
Those threads are exactly what I mean about like-minded people/kindred spirits. If someone came on and started slagging it, they'd get short shrift.

😀 you earned my respect.

I literally scroll past or skim that person’s name when I see it on the positive threads these days- they have no purpose except to goad. You will notice they and another poster post rarely on more like minded threads. They enjoy your reaction here to them and that’s why they’re actually here.

I do the same, and I suspect many of us more positive folks do just that too…

I also filter out notifications after being tagged, with some being immediately ‘vertically filed’ without the post being opened… 🤣

Anyhow, back to positivity!

Lifestooshort71 · 02/03/2024 06:34

Hmmm. Not keen on the Dior top, presumably meant to be creased and ill-fitting? I think less covered-up is a better look for her but suppose a Canadian winter might even call for thermal underwear!

Mylovelygreendress · 02/03/2024 08:46

What is it with Meghan and creased clothing ? Is this a trend that has bypassed me ?

The positivity spiel seems a bit shaky when most of Meghan’s cheerleaders spend much more of their time writing sneery things about William and Kate.

<shrugs>

GrouchyKiwi · 02/03/2024 08:59

Not keen on that top at all. It looks badly cut and yes, why the wrinkles. Dior should be ashamed. Meghan looks very different with those strong eyebrows.

Coronateachingagain · 02/03/2024 09:30

Yep. Won't get referral business form Dior. Shame.

She would need tailored clothes to look better but that won't happen either because part of the business model is to become a trend setter and get paid for it (or get the freebies). Cannot be Gwyneth getting paid and Kate bespoke at the same time but now at least the Palace cannot prevent her from keeping the clothes she is sent.

Or maybe it's the type of material that creases easily when your sitting or moving about. 🤔

Roussette · 02/03/2024 09:45

Maybe it's like me.in linen. I look like I've slept in a hedge if I wear linen yet others carry it off effortlessly

Good to see M&H looking so happy

skullbabe · 02/03/2024 09:52

It’s nice to get a closer look at what Meghan was wearing under the jacket at the reception/gala Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre. Yep - cotton/silk will crease at the armpits and wrists underneath a fitted jacket/coat. She could take a leaf out of Harry’s book and go with the jumper/shirt combo to avoid.

The black outfit is not a great look for Meghan.

SecretSoul · 03/03/2024 05:01

This is a good example of what I was saying in my previous posts.

Meghan’s casual outfits - flawless choices. She almost always looks stunning.
Meghan’s evening wear - very hit and miss. This one is another big miss, imo.

I don’t think this is a good choice for several reasons. She’s actually tiny now but this somehow makes her look chunky (which she really isn’t!). It doesn’t suit her shape at all and doesn’t sit well with the trousers. Her small frame is drowning in this outfit.

Also, it’s the creasing again. I’m like @Roussette - I only have to look in the direction of cotton or linen and it rumples up. I have no idea how some women manage to wear linen dresses and remain crease-free - it’s like witchcraft 😂

Meghan seems to have a habit of appearing in heavily creased clothing. Since I first noticed it I’ve been looking more closely at other female celebrities and Royals clothing for creases, just to see if Meghan is being judged unfairly. I have noticed minor creases in other women’s clothing that might have passed me by before, but Meghan seems to definitely end up more creased than most! Again, pretty much always when she’s dressed up, it’s not with her casual wear.

Poor choice of fabrics? Poor combination? So linens/cottons ruching under a jacket rather than just flowing lines? Are the clothes not being properly tailored?

I genuinely don’t know the answer. I wish I did so I could avoid being so creased myself 😂🤦🏻‍♀️

The other thing I don’t like here is two different blacks paired together. I think that’s probably just a me thing though. I didn’t like it in Jamaica with her vest and skirt combo - the two different black tones jarred with me. I feel the same about white shades but less so about other colours.

As I’m typing this, an advert on BBC News24 just flashed by. There was a guy wearing a black T-shirt and black suit jacket. Two different shades of black. It looked bloody awful! This is definitely a fashion pet hate I didn’t realise I had until now 😂😂

Lifestooshort71 · 03/03/2024 08:02

I have a couple of patterned summer dresses that I love wearing but they come out of the machine completely creased. I've given up on taming one of them and wear it as the-crinkled-cotton-look, think I actually get away with it. I no longer wear stuff that's a pain to iron as I don't really do ironing but presumably this is one worry that Meghan doesn't have!

Daisyislazy · 03/03/2024 13:51

I'm not keen on the black outfit but she looks stunning in the white and cream

Gottseidank · 03/03/2024 17:12

I commented a bit earlier in the thread about the clumsy pretentiousness of turning up to a ski resort with a full wardrobe of coats and boots.

An article about Lady Louise Windsor appears underneath the Hellio link someone shared about H&M.

What a case in point: not just shunning a ‘Princess’ title (despite being entitled to one), wearing old season gear, skiing with beautiful technique, but actually wearing a pair of those dreaded, cheap and cheerful ‘Tresspass’ goggles, which, despite being sold in bulk at SportsDirect and on Amazon, and being the goggles of choice for those bargain-hunting parents of Year 9’s on their first school ski trip to the Alps - are probably just as functional as Uvex or Oakley.

She’s my new favourite: accomplished and modest.

Why don't you start your own thread on her?

Roussette · 03/03/2024 17:18

Why don't you start your own thread on her?

She’s completely non-attention seeking, and mostly away at university so as a non-working royal I imagine she generates very little media coverage.
