Well to spell it out for you - it is now the 19th of January. She is a public figure who hasn't been since since her last day of work - which involved - going for a walk to Church at Christmas.

I was pondering what category her 'job falls under - fulltime/part-time/job share/adhoc/voluntary............?

Or unwell, given that she has just had an operation 🤔

That is the strange thing. If you read the Telegraph piece, her staff were still organising and planning her diary. They were unaware she was unwell. That is what struck me most.

Well maybe it was thought to be a temporary problem. You wouldn’t stop planning when you first become unwell because you don’t know how you will be affected 🤷‍♀️

They might be your betters Confused

I can't imagine thinking another human was intrinsically better than others purely because they came from a royal womb. By that token Prince Andrew is better than most too? 🙄 ridiculous!

Wow, just wow. This has got to be one of the most bitchy posts I have ever read on Mumsnet.

Pure poison.

Agree.

The jealousy and gossip about 2 people you they don’t know is completely embarrassing

MoneyMoneyMoneyy · 20/01/2024 19:58

We’re not subjects - not since about 1983. We’re citizens

Idontpostmuch · 21/01/2024 18:37

@ urchin There's more to Royal life than smiling and waving. Nobody actually enjoys being dressed up all the time, and they must be fed up attending formal dinners and having to make small talk. If we come across a tragic story we sympathise, then look away. Royals often have to meet people affected by tragedy. They have to try to strike the right note and adopt a suitable tone, while also making sure they've done their homework and have all the facts, to avoid embarrassment on both sides and possible distress to the people they're meeting. Then, while they're doing their best, they constantly have the eyes of the world on them watching for a fuck up. They do pay tax. There was a period, starting some time after Victoria, when the Monarch didn't pay. This changed some years ago, during the reign of the recently deceased queen. Private Eye had a cartoon of her phoning Lester Piggot, the joke being that she was seeking advice on tax evasion. The story about Carole Middleton manipulating things to bring her daughter and Wills together was far fetched nonsense made up by the tabloid press and used by The Crown, a good drama that included as much fiction as fact.

How odd. There’s nothing remotely ‘poisonous’ about my post. I have no idea, and very little interest, if any of those things are true, but those rumours have been in the media — that much is fact. So to say you admire peoole because their social etiquette and behaviour is ‘exemplary’ and the world’s press ‘speaks highly of them’ is deeply silly. Not all the world’s press speaks highly of them at all, and the ‘exemplary behaviour’ seems to come down to smiling and waving. I mean, do they get Brownie points for ‘not dressing up as a Nazi’ and ‘not shagging around’?

smilesy · 22/01/2024 21:37

Hmmm. You are posting the same thing on several threads. Again 🤔

BrittleVeneers · 23/01/2024 05:00

Oh Blimey, I just read the description of Angela Levin’s biography “Camilla” on Booktopia.

It seems that in Levin’s opinion Camilla has “retained her mischievous sense of humour, becoming a role model for older women and an inspiration for younger ones.”

I don’t think so.

The sycophancy.

Sounds like Levin is Camilla’s toady. Vile

VisitationRights · 23/01/2024 08:51

Wow, total overreaction by MMM to what Levin said with casual ageism and misogyny thrown in. Anything she said had the backing of Camilla and Charles and it nothing that hasn’t been hinted at this past week. Put the blame where it should be not on a mouthpiece.

Idontpostmuch · 23/01/2024 09:29

@MoneyMoneyMoneyy Well there's clearly something I've missed, so I don't know what the evil woman has been saying now. However she's pure poison coated with a sickly smile. Reminds me of Delores Umbridge. She's said some awful things about Harry and Meghan and doesn't care about any of it being true. Really we should just ignore her, and not dignify her with any response.

CoffeeCantata · 23/01/2024 16:59

The tone of this thread has gone very down-market!

Some horrible mysogyny here - and expressions I never expected to read on what is surely a female-dominated site. I won't repeat it (obvs) but that insult takes us back to the days of Bernard Manning.

Shame, because there've been some great, thoughtful, balanced and nuanced posts on the RF board over the weekend and it's been refreshing not to have crude insults thrown around and silly divisive 'team' stuff.

Proof of your claims re Charles & Camilla? Sources for the hints you have referred to? Source/proof that Levin is a mouthpiece?

TIA.

My family and I wish Kate a speedy recovery and hope to see her in action again, soon!

We miss seeing Kate do what she and her family do best, exalt England
