I'm wondering if she will receive a nice bouquet from her brother in law and his wife.
I'm envisioning Katherine squirming about having to write an overly polite thank you card.
Maybe this will be the thing that actually softens their relationship.
One can but hope for the sake of family harmony

I was puzzled that William also needed a couple of months off. If you look at his list of upcoming engagements it's entirely empty.

@Urcheon

Just looking at your post , about Princess Kate

She once appeared in a see through dress and was topless on holiday,
She also does classy good too,
she comes across as refreshing natural and modern unaffected by her privileged upbringing and she went to university too and she has set up a project at how shit childhood experiences affects people and impacts our society and exploring how 🤔 to improve create changes that will help hopefully improve society,

No wonder Prince William fell for an acctractive emotionally intelligent and academically intelligent woman

Lots of people have worn see through or similar dresses at University.

She was topless on a private holiday and paparazzi got a photo taken from a mile away.

Glad to hear you're so perfect 🙄

MrsFinkelstein · 18/01/2024 11:58

@LadyPineapples what medical information about DOS did KP leak?

Emails weren't leaked - they were released as part of a court case that the DOS brought.

This is utterly toxic

Gottseidank · 18/01/2024 12:06

Jealousy's a curse.

couiza · 18/01/2024 12:09

The scrutiny of her now will be NOTHING compared with the scrutiny of her when she makes her first appearance post surgery/recovery. All eyes.....

The endless threads on this pampered woman are insane.

The whole country should be talking about that poor little child who starved to death beside his dead father.

Society is f**ked.

I think this is what has pissed me off about this particular incident when I'm usually positively disposed towards the Royals.

That poor little boy was headline news and we needed to reflect on how that death happened and what we need to change as a society so this sort of thing (and the dozens of children who were found within an inch of their life so don't get a news story despite traumatic near-deadly neglect and being let down by authorities) stops happening.

And instead he disappeared off the front pages part way through the day and we're hearing endless slosh about a woman having an operation.

But they live on the Windsor estate - they don't need live in staff because there is so much staff accommodation on site.

I can't believe people actually fall for this idea that they do everything for themselves because they live in a four bed.

The point is they might choose to do things for themselves. But there is an army of back up staff there when needed. Which is a far cry from the average family.

They stopped putting the diary entries in in advance during the pandemic to try to reduce crowds turning up and haven’t gone back to doing it for William and Kate so that doesn’t indicate what his diary will actually be.

true ,

We really don’t know what sort of surgery she had , it could be really serious, and she needs a long recovery time, but honestly I don’t think her absence would have caused a major glitch in the country.

So Whoever wrote that statement really needs to be fired , I really don’t think saying things like 10 days hospital stay or 3 months recovery period was a good idea , it just highlights how privilege they are compared to most families. And im saying this from a place of privilege, I had a cancerous nodule , the surgery knocked me out for six , but honestly I didn’t need to worry about who cooked , cleaned or did laundry or drop offs. I just had time to focus on myself, im pretty sure so many had to get back to looking after their families with no recovery time at all.

You might adore them I don't think you can speak on behalf of the world though.

Oh don't be so daft, there are threads on the little boy too, of course there are. You can be interested/saddened/horrified/curious all on the same day you know

I agree and think there is a serious point to be noted here about what we believe is a free press but is actually far from that any more. I only realised once I started living outside of the uk how many important stories are suppressed or do not appear at all.

I lived overseas for years and that’s nonsense, it’s not russia, to stop something in the press here it takes a super injunction, and we live in a global community. People have access to the internet. This is a global site. Not just a uk one.

and there are threads on the little boy, people can talk about multiple stories at once.

The point is that the level of focus on both issues is disproportionate to the focus that should actually be on each story. We should be paying far more attention to the circumstances of the little boy’s death.

You are being very literal. I am talking about the vast influence and behind-the-scenes unelected power that media organisations run by Murdoch and Rothermere wield in the uk. It’s got to the point that it’s anti-democratic. Even prime ministers are afraid to stand up to them. They are driving the political narrative, not simply reporting on it.

Well stop reading the tabloids. The Independent, Telegraph, Times, BBC, Sky News etc have all lead on other stories eg the Rawanda Bill, little Bronson etc.

Well if you read crap papers then that's probably true so you know the answer then don't you?

The little boys death is tragic but how can I do anything by reading more coverage on it?

Maireas · 18/01/2024 13:33

Do some people seriously think that the only way to get news is from the tabloids? Really strange.

There is lots of other news besides what is happening to the King and Princess of Wales. Attention was paid to the death of the little boy on the News as pp have said. This is a section of Mumsnet about the Royal Family. People are entitled to discuss things that interest them. It doesn’t mean they don’t care about other issues. The King and the Princess of Wales have slipped down the News today as is normal.

Fringepolitics294 · 18/01/2024 13:36

Maireas and Iwillletthemkniw

I never read the tabloids thanks but the story is second or high in ranking in most of the broadsheets you mention. Similar prominence on the radio, even on supposedly respectable channels. It’s like a national drug! You can almost hear the odious royal correspondents licking their lips!

Butteredtoast55 · 18/01/2024 13:40

People can be compassionate about two things at the same time: a woman in the public eye with young children needing significant and seemingly unexpected surgery and a tiny dot dying needlessly because we live in a world where we've stopped noticing or caring about real people on our doorstep.
It's not the PoWs fault that this happened at the same time as the tragic death of a child. The media have more scope for copy with Kate (who is visiting etc) or would you prefer they grub around for details on the lives of the Battersbys and the people who might (or might not) have prevented Bronson's death so people can discuss it?

Of course people can care about other issues. It’s about the level of emphasis, I can guess which threads filled up the fastest on Mumsnet yesterday.
