Wishing, Princess Kate a speedy and full recovery from me and my family.
Looking forward to Kate and William doing their bit for the UK soon.
A great family that is adored around the world.

Publicity loving Middleton family ??

When did any of them last give an interview or make a statement? Have their photos been in the press ?
I must have missed all that .

Yes. There were years when the Middletons - Carole Pippa and James, although not the dad - wouldn’t stfu.

Probably their dodgy dealings with Party Pieces has run them to ground.

Also rumour has it that Carole was spitting tacks in William’s direction, a little while back. Maybe that played into them finally stfu too.

Ever heard of hyperbole? Most of the country don't give a shit about the RF, which is more of a problem for them than people taking about them!

Is that why you're here discussing them? Because you don't give a shit about them? I'm a graduate in English so I probably know more about hyperbole than you do with your snidey remark.

Some people on here who seem obsessed with a family they hate - it's pretty sad really.

Yes - I've always found the 'haters' (sorry - awful over-dramatic word) are keener to comment than the RF supporters. If you're not a hater, you will be called a serf, a peasant, forelock-tugger etc...when most people just mildly support the constitutional monarchy as being the least worst of all possible worlds, and don't usually give them much thought. But I can't bear rubbish being talked online, so I add my bit and really I should ignore it!

And there is affection for them with many people - especially since they go through their lives and rites of passage etc in public. We can all empathise with illness in a family, but most of us don't have to deal with it in public.

Couldn't agree more!

If I disliked something as violently as some of the posters here do, I would avoid the topic.

I have always loved history and been interested in monarchies so the current RF is history in the making to me. Some posters are so vicious and nasty with it.

I'm with you about the rubbish being talked online. I can't just leave it when if I had a really sensible head on I'd just ignore the tripe.

They might not talk to the press but they are always VERY visible and there’s usually photos of them in the mainstream media - sometimes Pippa, sometimes James and his wife, sometimes the parents but not for a few weeks. You’d certainly expect them to be seen visiting their daughter in hospital- unless they have of course but there is some kind of media blackout in place..

I agree with you - I think it's pretty clear that both William and Kate are workshy

It's pretty clear that alongside working as members of the Royal Family, William and Kate are doing all they can to bring their children up as normally as possible.

The time will come when the bulk of engagements will fall to them. I don't see any harm in allowing them to rear their children in a totally abnormal environment!

Lookingatthesunset · 07/02/2024 19:09

spriots · 07/02/2024 14:29

I think you can be good involved parents while not taking as much time off work as these two do. And Kate in particular didn't even do many engagements pre children either.

But anyway, I thought their defenders thought they were slaving away on preparing for engagements? Or is it time with children now?

It's pretty obvious that they are doing both, I'd say.

The children are in school.

Christmasnutcracker · 07/02/2024 19:15

Ummmmm….i think they are picking and choosing what they perceive as normal maybe?

Do you think they would change if the public didn’t like —allow— it?

"hyperbole is an intentional exaggeration or an exaggerated statement that isn't meant to be taken literally. The sentence I slept for a week after that tough practice is an example of a hyperbole. The speaker didn't literally sleep for a week, but they are using hyperbole to express that they slept for a long time".14 Feb 2023

The definition of hyperbole. I'll just leave that there.

I said ' most people don't give a shit. I do give a shit about someone ( and their entire extended family) being imposed as my Head of State, and when institutions of the State who are meant to be working for us and checking the power of the unelected Monarchy,- Parliament, the courts and the press just do their bidding. I also give a shit when they are praised to the rafters for doing the bare minimum in a way that borders on insulting to people who are trying to live, work and bring up their families without their legions of help and little real consequence.
The Royal Family board is a niche board. You only need to look at threads on the main boards to know what people think of them. Most people don't give a shit. They make absolutely no difference to most peoples lives. The gossip and family fallouts are what keeps interest in them going. But you are correct. The best way to get them to change is not give them any attention at all.

spriots · 07/02/2024 19:32

Ummmmm….i think they are picking and choosing what they perceive as normal maybe?

Yes. I am not sure it is normal for both parents to work very part time, take almost all school holidays off, but also have a nanny. Not sure that taking luxury holidays multiple times a year is normal either.

I know several families where only one parent works, they have a nanny, and they take several luxury holidays each year. Oh and they aren’t royal either. Normal is relative.

Listen, take your condescending tone and use it with someone else.

I didn't bother reading your post.

So insulting.

I do too - those families would not describe their life as "normal" though because it isn't.

Serenster · 07/02/2024 20:21

Some of points raised were the PoW hasn't been seen since xmas morning; there was a vehicle that looked like a private ambulance seen leaving KP on 28th Dec;

Goodness, those are some deep cuts of royal watching you have in your office there.

How on earth did people that don’t normally discuss the royal family pick up on a two second video clip that was being circulated on twitter by the Sussex squad anyway? And if they had picked upon it, you think they would have noticed that the clip was of two Land Rovers plus police vehicles in convoy in a street of what looked like Marylebone, not a “private ambulance leaving Kensington Palace”?

You’d also think that if they followed royal twitter that closely they would have also picked up on the fact that in fact in past years Kate’s not been seen in public in January until after Christmas/her birthday/ the childrens’ school holidays have finished. So it was really only her not attending a meeting of the Early Childhood Foundation (held on the day we now know she was undergoing surgery) that really started tongues wagging.

So yes, I’ll take your office consensus with a grain of salt, I think…

Serenster · 07/02/2024 20:23

It’s clearly normal for plenty in their circle, though.

(If you’re going on the basis of what’s normal worldwide, none of us have “normal” lives - we have lives that are normal in our country/neighbourhood/peer group/social circle etc though…as I say, it’s all relative)

Sounds like the London branch of the European trashmag (sorry, 'magazine') whose editor knows What The Truth Is About The King's Illness But Won't Say to his mate on MN.

My point was that my office doesn't normally discuss royal matters, but we have all noticed something odd about the situation and yes there was a certain amount of googling and reading threads on twitter. I posted in response to a poster who said only a tiny percent of people and conspiracy theorists have noted her absence, so I was just pointing out that a normally non-royalty discussing office were discussing this today, and I'm sure we weren't the only ones up and down the country 🤷🏻‍♀️

Does that parent work full time? Or out of interest does that full time working parent take the entire summer off along with all other school holidays so they can all spend quality family time together?

Serenster who is aware of Kate's public movements not for this year but for the past number of YEARS? I don't think she needs you to reply on her behalf. She's a fountain of knowledge about the royals. I follow her posts to keep up to date myself. It saves me having to look at the Daily Fail.

It's 'fount'.

Wow, I haven't heard THAT one before.
