I'm amazed at how she managed to carry such a role in the public eye with (theoretically) UC or Crohns! Hats off if that were the case. Especially as it involves a lot of travelling, eating unknown food, banquets, dinners etc.

It would play a role in the skinniness, however I never thought she looked "painfully" thin as many claim. She always had a stunning figure, like most Hollywood celebrities.

Amazed at what, some jealous random on line guessing erroneously at what’s wrong with her? Yeah alright then,

Personally I don't think the Royals should have to share personal medical info and can't help but think they're doing this to deflect attention away from Andrew which they usually use Harry for.......let's face it, it's not unusual for Kate to go off radar for a while, It's doubtful much would have been made about her being absent for a couple of months.

And do we really need to know the ins and outs of Charles prostate and the fact a doctor has had his hand up his arse ?? I mean ffs 🙄

I think it’s great that there are conversations about prostate issues in a 75 year old man. More discussion, more men likely to get themselves checked out and for some, that may lead to diagnosing a prostate cancer they were unaware of. Why are we so disgusted by these things? DRE is an important part of diagnosing prostate issues, benign or otherwise.

I understood what you meant, and yes it’s quite possible that a hospital like this provides more of a ‘fluffy’ after care service

You did NOT say she was off to a spa, people need to read

No one misunderstood, we all read. She is not off to some rehabilitation come spa place she’s in hospital.

Elvanseshortage · 17/01/2024 22:55

It’s PROSTATE ! (not prostrate)

It’s really common for older men to have issues with their prostate. The people on here who keep writing prostrate must surely have read the word in newspapers, heard friends saying it, had husbands and dads who have had treatment. How are they still still unable to distinguish between the two words?!

Merrilydancing · 17/01/2024 22:55

I think it is unrealistic to expect a senior member of the royal family to be treated in an NHS hospital as it would be incredibly difficult to maintain security and the patient’s privacy.

Hospitals are hugely busy places, with multiple entrances, vast numbers of people wandering around, it would potentially mean the closing of a large area in order to protect them. And if they did, the outcry would be huge!

Finishingoff · 17/01/2024 22:57

KarenNotAKaren · 17/01/2024 22:23

And sometimes they’re a full day, or a whole week, or several days.

Seriously the woman can’t do right.

Someone earlier said they’re away from their kids too much and others say they’re at home too much.

Also unless you’re a big fan of the engagements and get value out of them and see the value, you don’t reallly have a right to complain that you want moreZ it smacks a bit of
“They should work way more “
“Why do you want to see more of them?”
”Oh god no can’t stand them the lazy pair”

🙄

Envy is an ugly quality people

No. Royal engagements are listed as separate events in the court circular even if they occur in the same day. An engagement does not last for days or weeks at a time. This would count as multiple events.

I have no idea where you get the idea from that people are envious. I wouldn’t want Kate’s life for all the tea in China. Pointing out that as a couple, they barely do the work of one person and work significantly less than their counterparts in European Royal Families does not make people envious.

Frasers · 17/01/2024 22:57

PanamaPamela77 · 17/01/2024 22:42

Why is everyone misreading my post?

I didn’t ever say she was going to a spa fhs.

Rehabilitation hospitals exist. They are an actual thing. Rich people and athletes stay in them. They are staffed by doctors and nurses and physiotherapists. They are not hotels.

No one misread it, the fact is she’s at the London clinic not some rehabilitation centre or spa. At least watch the news.

PinkPomeranian · 17/01/2024 22:57

Wholly agree, @Merrilydancing
I wouldn't want them taking an NHS bed from someone with no alternatives, either.

Tell me you’re jealous and bitter withour telling me you’re jealous and bitter. Boohoo , is your work harder?

I didn't think the announcement went into that much detail.
When someone has a baby do you just think "Ffs! A doctor's had their hand up their fanny"?

StuckintheRutt · 17/01/2024 23:00

I thought prostrate was a male issue? Why do people keep calling out prostrate?...

Surely Kate has something else who knows what but something obviously serious?

DontLeanOnTheKeyboard · 17/01/2024 23:00

I’m going in for open surgery for a hernia,4th attempt for a permanent repair, and will be in for 3-4 days. Am presuming for her whatever it is she’s gets longer because private and she’s a Princess and I’m not 😂😂😂

We presumably won’t know for sure where she is as most of these private hospitals have back entrances.

StuckintheRutt · 17/01/2024 23:02

@Merrilydancing indeed and even on maternity wards where it says one visitor between x and z some people bring entire families in at any time and no one polices it.

Agree · 17/01/2024 23:02

alltootired · 17/01/2024 22:44

Rehabilitation places exist. The royal family would get that kind of help at home. Its about helping people to be independent enough that they can manage at home alone, and/ir to put a care package in place.

It's called 'reablement' when it's what the NHS or social services sort out as a care package. It's like a furnished room in a sort of 'supported living' / respite home and there's care assistants on hand to dispense medication and keep an eye on you sort of thing but it's not hospital nursing care.

I'm only saying this in case anyone reading the thread is going for major surgery but will not be 'able' at home on their own.

Exactly. Plus surely there has to be some payoff for spending 325 days of the year cutting ribbons to open supermarkets, dib-dib-dibbing with local scout troops and having every spit and cough of your life – including when your nether regions are engorged – spread across newspapers.

Brightandbubly · 17/01/2024 23:04

So Will is cancelling all engagements, imo it shows how we really don’t need the RF anymore, he is able to do this because we pay for it, the supposed service he provides in return can be dropped for a lengthy period of time, without any recourse or discussion . It just highlights their irrelevance in the modern world

Elvanseshortage · 17/01/2024 23:04

@StuckintheRutt
It’s PROSTATE not PROSTRATE.

The two words are different. They have completely different meanings

Seriously? You think as a member of he royal family, like many people can take a couple of months off in a serious emergency means the monarchy isn’t required? So you see a sick woman, a mother with three kids, and you’re go to is abolish the monarchy?

I also think people are just lying. Imagine being on a waiting list for surgery on the NHS for months and months and in front of you in the queue there’s an actual princess who could have quite easily paid for it to be done in a private hospital with cash to spare but is bedblocking you instead.

stomachameleon · 17/01/2024 23:07

@Brightandbubly he would be entitled to compassionate leave whatever he was doing surely as his wife is having a serious operation?

I think there are two reasons for the prostate thing.

Firstly, the campaign to normalise prostate issues and treatment is a big thing, has been for a few years. The football people on Sky always wear the badges, its to help dispell the myths and shame around the whole thing. The fact that the King has said he has these issues and is being checked, despite being in his 70's and part of the buttoned up establishment, is a good thing. It helps with the "it can happen to anyone" message.

Secondly, yes I do think that the information has been released now (if it was ever going to be released at all) because of The PoW's illness to try and deflect from it. And why not? Who hasnt tactfully taken one for the team in order to protect a friend or relative from nosy questioning. My sister did it for me when I was going through a miscarriage. I did it for her when she had very recently been told that there was no way she could have kids. Its what you do.

mamma65432 · 17/01/2024 23:08

Sarah F recently had treatment for breast cancer which was found by a routine nhs mammogram, its commendable that her and Charles choose to share their own experiences to remind everyone how important these routine screenings are.

Equally if Kate wants to keep things private thats fine too. Imho.

MaggieFS · 17/01/2024 23:08

Fucking hell, there's nothing like someone having a health issue for everyone to share their own experiences, is there.
