Some abdominal operations do require a while in hospital, DH had Meckels Diverticulam which apparently only some of the population have and that flared up rather like appendicitis and he was in hospital for at least 5 days after an operation, I can't remember exactly and then couldn't really do anything for about 6 weeks so it may be something like that and they are being cautious with timescales

So Charles under the weather...Wills looking after Katie...this puts Harry in charge of things for now!

I’m more worried that with Harry abroad it’s actually Andrew 😁🙈

I do think it's the language that's used in attempt to make them sound "just like us" that can get people's backs up. Obviously William will want to visit his wife and support her while she recovers and to spend more time with their children. But talking about him "juggling childcare" is borderline offensive.

Totally agree. In general, the palace seem to think this sort of language makes them relatable and more relevant. But as someone their age with similar age children, it just makes them seem ridiculously out of touch.

I am sure he wants to be emotionally there for his kids and I am sure it is stressful for all of them but they are at school during the day, he has no cleaning or cooking to worry about, he has a full time nanny to rely on. There will be no juggling necessary and I find it offensive that they use that language

Medics agree it's likely an ED though no meds think cosmetic surgery. She has to be watched.

What?
Which medics? Where?

Agreed the comments simply reflect the posters mindset, in this instance the poster can’t fathom if you’ve staff why you’d choose to care for your own kids. They simply can’t fathom it.

and as said, same as the poster havering on about an ed, they can’t fathom a slender woman can simply be slender and exercise and eat healthy, maintain her weight , for her it means she’s a ed.

the comments have no basis in reality but simply reflect the posters mindset.

I can fathom it- but it's disingenuous.

Exactly

They are not just like us - and that's fine but the continual suggestions that they are is just irritating

When exactly did I say he should not visit Kate? I am saying why does he need to not work until Easter? He is not going to be cooking, cleaning, etc is he?

He doesn't - he's taking some time off whilst she's in hospital and her first days home. So no-one (except you) thinks he's going to be off until Easter

And even if engagements are rescheduled, there may well be other duties - such as being the regent whilst Charles is under anaesthetic next week

StrawberriesSW1 · 18/01/2024 09:10

Charles off work and William off work till end of March at least.
Edward is in charge at the moment and I guess Brits are happy to have him in charge.

Mylovelygreendress · 18/01/2024 09:11

For a parenting site there seems to be very little empathy for the parents of 3 young children . Ok they have a nanny etc but the vast majority of children just want their parents when upset.
Some of the comments on this thread are so unpleasant.

You posted the exact same thing on the Kinf Charles prostate thread.

What?
What medics are these?

Edited

Dr Fraser. She’s already reported widely on this thread 😉

Mylovelygreendress · 18/01/2024 09:13

Who ??

Elvanseshortage · 18/01/2024 09:13

@StrawberriesSW1
Are you in the USA? People from the U.K. don’t tend you use the term Brits to describe themselves.

I also am interested if you are outside the U.K. because in an earlier post you confidently stated that doctors had said she was being treated for an ED. There is nothing at all in the news here that claims that. Where did you get the information from? Several people have asked you and you have continued to post but ignored their questions.

You spend a lot of time being snipey and upsetting everyone with your know-it-all atttitude.
You actually sound like you know fuck all to me.

But she’s right isn’t she? Basic biology tells us she’s right.

some of the posts are hilarious.

Charles will be in and out in a day or so.
It's not a major op. Loads of men have this done (shaving a bit off the prostate).

William will be stepping in to do the school run as they won't want nannies taking over for 3 months.

I think it's great that they put their kids first and that he wants to be a hands-on dad.

The RF can't win, can they?

If they turn up at events people complain and say what use are they.
If they look after their kids they come in for criticism.

Edward is not 'in charge'.
Last time I looked it was Mr Sunak.

I do think this is an odd takeaway- I don't think anyone has expressed this view. They have merely pointed out that there is much that comes under the "juggling umbrella" that is not even remotely relevant to them!

Really? This interests me. Do you have a link for me to read more? I always thought it a possibility that Diana’s sons would end up with people with ED because of their mother’s struggles. It’s just a private interest of mine so would be grateful for people not to flame me.

Maybe what posters don't understand is that parents, even royal ones, like being hands on and doing the school run and everything that we do to support our kids.

Being able to hand it over to nannies even if you have one (and plenty on MN do!) is not the same.

The public duties we see the royals carry out are the tip of the iceberg. Many are doing other charitable work behind the scenes as patrons that go under the radar.

HollyKnight · 18/01/2024 09:24

If anything, with the king being out of commission, William should be stepping up even more. He seems to not realise that this is his whole purpose for existing and the reason he lives the life he does and has the luxuries he has. He can't just ignore his responsibilities to put his kids to bed. That isn't his life. He doesn't have a normal life. If he wants that, then he needs to give up his "job". Most people aren't stupid. Most people aren't going to be ok with them continuing to use the children as an excuse to shirk their responsibilities. That is wearing very thin. If enough people turn on them, it's going to be hard to come back from that.

Have you actually read the comments ? Mocking William because he wants to be with his wife and support his children ? We don’t know what is wrong with the POW ( nor should we) but I think the majority of people understand that it is probably more serious than the statement from KP suggested . The RF normally downplay medical issues.
It’s not William saying he is juggling , it’s the media . Yes he will have help but the bottom line is that Catherine will want her husband and the children will want their father.
Nothing “ odd” about my view.
