I'd be surprised if she's had a hysterectomy. I had one after being diagnosed with endometrial cancer when I was only a few years older than Kate. I was in early one morning and out by lunchtime the next day and I'm a lot less fit than she is!

More likely that it's something more complex necessitating longer medical supervision. Unlikely we'll be told, and nor should we.

Dr Fraser. She’s already reported widely on this thread 😉

Ahhh...

There are some bizarre "medical" opinions on this thread.
I'm intrigued by the idea of "rehab" for eating disorders.
Do people think that all psychiatric/psychological inpatient treatments are "rehab"? And do they think people can slap a time limit on them?
Much easier to do that with physical illnesses imo.

This thread is just full of bitchery and nastiness. I think so much if it is simply fuelled by jealousy and spite.

Why the fuck would anyone be jealous of
a: the Royal Family
b: someone being in hospital for two weeks?

goodbyestranger · 18/01/2024 09:30

What is it that Edward is ‘in charge’ of exactly?

And now ‘taking over as Regent’ for a couple of hours counts as work for William?

BobnLen · 18/01/2024 09:30

King Charles will be a couple of days, he will be wfh doing red box stuff apparently during his recovery.

HollyKnight · 18/01/2024 09:30

Oh I'm definitely jealous. I would love to tell my NHS employer that I'm taking 3 months off to look after my children alongside the nanny and the cook while keeping my job and full pay. I'm sure taxpayers would be very supportive of that and praise my commitment to parenthood.

EdithWeston · 18/01/2024 09:30

CoasttoCoastlines · 18/01/2024 09:22

Anne would be 'in charge'.

William isn't off until March

There's no particular reason he could not be regent whilst the King is under anaesthetic - he's cancelled public engagements but may well have time to so some WFH.

If he really can't then two CoS would carry out the role (they normally act in pairs) and it's most likely that it would be Anne and Edward. These sorts of circs are exactly why extras were appointed.

But the chances of their being time-sensitive matters that require royal assent in the few hours that Charles is under and until anaesthetic drugs clear his system is low

spriots · 18/01/2024 09:32

If DH was in hospital and my employer offered me time off on full pay, a cleaner, a cook and a nanny, I would take it in a heartbeat as would 99% of people. I don't blame William for doing it at all.

But I wouldn't describe it as a juggling act because it isn't - he can visit Kate during the school day and then look after his children after school. He doesn't even have to "juggle" cooking them dinner while looking after them.

He will have signed off that press statement with the "juggling" language and it doesn't make him come off well

MaturingCheeseball · 18/01/2024 09:32

This thread is nuts. So what if you climbed Mt Everest one day after a hysterectomy or had your whole innards removed without anaesthetic. Every patient and every procedure is different.

I suppose many women are like this about childbirth. Just because they gave three puffs, ejected baby and were discharged after 15 minutes, does not mean the same is true for everyone. They are the lucky ones, not the standard bearers.

I do think that this situation has highlighted the issue of COS and I think Andrew and Harry need to be removed so that there is no discussion/ confusion in the future.

CurlewKate · 18/01/2024 09:34

@Mylovelygreendress "Mocking William because he wants to be with his wife and support his children ?"

Show me the mockery and I'll wholeheartedly agree with you!

Mylovelygreendress · 18/01/2024 09:39

If you have read the thread you will know exactly what I mean . I am not here to do your research .

The press statement didn't say "juggling"

The press created that bit

This is closer version:

"William is expected to postpone some engagements to be by Kate’s side and support their family" Plus two international trips that they were both to go on have been postponed

What are the rules for government employees nowadays? If they are long-term ill do teachers, nurses, doctors and civil servants get the first six months on full pay?

smilesy · 18/01/2024 09:41

Charles is not having a general anaesthetic apparently ( according to a Palace spokesperson quoted in the Telegraph) so
no need to panic that an inappropriate recent will be needed 😂

i think this thread has highlighted the futility of trying to speculate on what is wrong with someone else as everyone’s experience of being unwell, even with the same condition, is vastly different. We can wonder what might be the issue with the Princess, but we obviously cannot know for certain, even though some posters think they can. Some
may have guessed correctly, but it is just that, a guess. I’m sure the medical advice she has been given is correct and as a human being we wish her well

edited for typo

HiHoOfftowork · 18/01/2024 09:42

@spriots you’re offended? Really?! Ok so he’s not juggling childcare with trying to pay the bills, but we don’t know what their domestic arrangements are and how much work Kate did for the family/home. They have 3 kids so that’s potentially a lot of support with homework/ ferrying to activities. They are hands on parents and will have a busy schedule.

Actually Will and Kate don’t have a cook - they do their own cooking at home. They have a nanny because they have engagements and travel. They’re not a normal family and we don’t know what responsibilities will has to take on in Kate’s absence.

CurlewKate · 18/01/2024 09:43

Jealous? Yes, of course people are jealous that someone can have as much paid time off work as he wants/needs to look after his wife and children when she is ill, and doesn't have to think for a second about any of the domestic arrangements or minutiae of family life. Imagine if he posted on here about it!

That's why "juggling" is such a cloth eared word to use.

CurlewKate · 18/01/2024 09:44

@Mylovelygreendress "If you have read the thread you will know exactly what I mean . I am not here to do your research ."

Fair enough. You made it up. Cool.

Yes. But if it is your spouse who is ill, you're lucky if they let you use your annual leave.

upinaballoon · 18/01/2024 09:45

WHERE did this 'juggling' word originate? The same place as Harry being FORCED to walk behind his mother's coffin?

The fact that so many press outlets have used it strongly suggests that the palace used the term in their background press briefing

That is usually what happens when you get multiple media sources using the same term

OFGS well good for you with your keyhole surgery. Not everyone is the same.

aurorauk · 18/01/2024 09:50

you lot... "i hope she recovers well" and all this speculation about her health and whatever. honestly, it's absolutely insane. you know she's just a human, right? why are you all so utterly obsessed with her? look at this post - 40 pages for a woman who is taken care of better than anyone you will ever know and has endless fame and fortune, the picture perfect existence, and you're fawning over her like giddy schoolgirls. LORD. How sad!!! I like all of the royals - including harry and meghan but this level of worship is fruitcake territory and I will never understand it. thank God.

LINDAHOAD · 23/02/2026 14:17

yes i thought it was an odd choice unless the surgeon only operates there
