No one cares about the fat fingers older king... It's all Kate Kate Kate....

crumblingschools · 17/01/2024 22:36

@PanamaPamela77 a couple of times after DM had operations on NHS she then went to a recuperation hospital for a few weeks (again on the NHS) until she was fit to go home

Frasers · 17/01/2024 22:28

Did you not even watch the news, read any news on it, just rush in to comment, no it’s not that, she’s staying in actual hospital not off to a spa.

Did you not read my post? I am saying actual proper medical rehabilitation centres exist where you can stay for several weeks or months, staffed by doctors and nurses.

Regrettably, have been on UC for a few years now. Had surgery back in July 2023, NHS although the surgeon operates out of a private hospital, and have been signed off for 24 months. Not only that, have actually been given additional benefits.

So no, rather a sweeping statement on your part inasmuch as that the NHS can offer excellent treatment and if you're claiming UC, you aren't expected back at work the day after surgery or anything remotely like that.

@legrandcolbert

I literally just had NHS surgery 5 weeks ago and it was barbaric and horrific treatment and I was nowhere near well enough to leave when coerced to against my legal rights as it turns out. I've had multiple surgeries. So I do know a thing or two about how absolutely horrific the NHS is right now. I wouldn't wish it on anyone whatsoever.

As for saying you'd probably have to go back to work the day after surgery if on UC it was a joke based on the horrific unreasonable treatment that people who are claiming UC often get that is widely known. Clearly, you're not actually on jobseekers having been signed off for 24 months you're now on a different benefit anyhow, something I also know a lot about and your experience is fortunate but not usual. Good for you and I hope you get better soon.

i suspect it brings up an awareness of how great inequality is between people in society.

that’s a very good point, we are a deeply unequal society & the royals are the epitome of that.

Exactly this

mamma65432 · 17/01/2024 22:38

KP have said they will update when they have something significant to update, hopefully that will be she's home and recovering well.

I did wonder about Crohns or something along those lines because I remember when Sam Faiers was diagnosed with it she got very thin and I know lots of people will say Kate is sporty and naturally thin but she is noticeably thinner than Pippa who is very sporty.

Best wishes to her for a speedy recovery.

It’s nothing like 3 days a week. Two or three events/activities often take place in the same day. And let’s not forget that some of these events are thing like attending the BAFTAs, garden parties and state dinners. It’s hardly taxing.

You think that they just rock up to these engagements? Realistically they have hours of briefings about - organisations, people they will meet, timetabling, travel arrangements, security arrangements. Then there will be clothing meetings and fittings indoors/outdoors? expected to play sports? Climb up ladders, sit in tanks helicopters etc. Then there is all of their general correspondence etc which must be dealt with.

Then of course - on the side - William is CEO of a billion pound property business

SweetChilliChickenWrap · 17/01/2024 22:39

KarenNotAKaren · 17/01/2024 21:20

I don’t get this “Kate is lazy” schtick.

William and Kate have clearly learnt from generations before them that shit, absent parenting in the RF has a damaging effect. They state clearly that they wish to enjoy raising their kids alongside engagements.

Last year Kate carried out 134 engagements, William 175. That’s around the equivalent of a 3 day week for her and a 4 day week for him (if you took 4 weeks annual leave into account). Would people they were rather shitty parents like the Queen was? Barely seeing her children in the pursuit of ‘duty’?

An engagement can be as little as a 30 minute phone call.

Blinkingbonkers · 17/01/2024 22:40

Some of the comments on here are beyond horrid. Doesn’t matter who she is - an expected 10-14 days in hospital after abdominal surgery (plus the nature of the hospital she’s in) implies something quite major, even if full recovery is expected. Be kind means nothing to so many on this platform, really very depressing.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 17/01/2024 22:41

yes she’s a public figure, but she’s a human, a mother to three young kids, on a parenting site too. Called mumsnet, and some or so writhing in jealous over her, they can’t restrain themselves

The same happened and happens to Meghan of course but for some reason she’s considered fair game.

Savedpassword · 17/01/2024 22:41

I’m assuming bowel/chrons/colitis type issues. It might explain why she has looked so painfully thin recently and also why her workload has appeared less than significant at times. If she has been dealing with this sort of bowel issue fair play to her carrying on in a public role for as long as she has.

AMuser · 17/01/2024 22:42

Prostate, guys. Prostate.

I had an op at the hospital Kate is at. Yes, it’s much nicer than an NHS hospital. And I was in a bog standard room not a suite. But it was noisy and too hot and all the things that make you want to go home. Especially if at home you have chefs and maids etc.

IF she does stay longer than 5 days I think it’s safe to conclude it’s been something pretty major. I hope she recovers well.

Thinking back before Xmas there was some horrible piece in the Fail saying she looked really haggard of something. Poor woman was poorly perhaps.

PanamaPamela77 · 17/01/2024 22:42

teddycoat · 17/01/2024 22:34

I do know someone who is very comfortably off who had a routine operation and then went for the first part of their recuperation to a rehabilitation centre which was part hospital and part health spa where they had physio and a special diet every day. That’s how some of the very rich do it.

The hospital she’s in specialises in “the care and treatment of complex medical conditions, such as cancer, women's health, urology, and orthopaedics (bones and joints) “

It’s not a fucking part spa fgs!

Why is everyone misreading my post?

I didn’t ever say she was going to a spa fhs.

Rehabilitation hospitals exist. They are an actual thing. Rich people and athletes stay in them. They are staffed by doctors and nurses and physiotherapists. They are not hotels.

StuckintheRutt · 17/01/2024 22:42

You think Kates got prostate?

AMuser · 17/01/2024 22:44

StuckintheRutt · 17/01/2024 22:42

You think Kates got prostate?

I think that we can confidently state that Kate does not have a prostate, no.

alltootired · 17/01/2024 22:44

Rehabilitation places exist. The royal family would get that kind of help at home. Its about helping people to be independent enough that they can manage at home alone, and/ir to put a care package in place.

nildesparandum · 17/01/2024 22:46

Whatever is wrong with her must be awful, but I was far more upset about the first item on the 6pm news.It was about that poor little 2 year old boy who had starved to death beside the body of his dead father.

WearyAuldWumman · 17/01/2024 22:46

fuckmyuteruslining · 17/01/2024 14:30

Given that the palace described the Queen's terminal cancer as periodic mobility problems I don't find their use of 'routine' here very reassuring. Apparently healthy 42 year olds don't usually need 10 days in hospital for their recovery for minor issues. It maybe elective but it's not minor.

Yup. A cousin in her 40s had a hysterectomy and pelvic floor repair. Was out in a three days.

My SIL (in her 70s) had a hysterectomy for endometrial cancer. Had to have a section of the large intestine removed as well.

Out after a few days.

I think she is seen as wealthy, slim, famous, happy married, perfect family, attractive, and it clearly makes some women jealous and resentful. But this is a woman who is sick In hospital, a mother, to be so jealous you’ve no empathy for that, and you need to attack to make yourself feel better, says something about the posters.

we have had repeatedly focusing sickly on her bowels, calling her lazy, joking about her weight, saying she’s had a face lift, complaining the tax payer is paying , someone even tried to bring Megan in for gods sake.

this is a human being, a sick one, having major surgery, a woman, a mother .

I'm amazed at how she managed to carry such a role in the public eye with (theoretically) UC or Crohns! Hats off if that were the case. Especially as it involves a lot of travelling, eating unknown food, banquets, dinners etc.

It would play a role in the skinniness, however I never thought she looked "painfully" thin as many claim. She always had a stunning figure, like most Hollywood celebrities.

Prostate, guys. Prostate.

Yes, it's a very common malapropism.
I noticed the post about "Charles prostrate" too and thought "Well, he might be if his prostate's playing up".

PutinSmellsPassItOn · 17/01/2024 22:49

Personally I don't think the Royals should have to share personal medical info and can't help but think they're doing this to deflect attention away from Andrew which they usually use Harry for.......let's face it, it's not unusual for Kate to go off radar for a while, It's doubtful much would have been made about her being absent for a couple of months.

And do we really need to know the ins and outs of Charles prostate and the fact a doctor has had his hand up his arse ?? I mean ffs 🙄

EverleighMay · 17/01/2024 22:50

Daily Mail are loving the subliminal message of "last photo of Kate" with the black mourning banner underneath the headline. Reminding me of the impending sense of doom the day it was announced QE2 was ill.

Some of the journalists seems to be desperate for bad news unlike us normal humans who wish her a speedy recovery.

I understood what you meant, and yes it’s quite possible that a hospital like this provides more of a ‘fluffy’ after care service

You did NOT say she was off to a spa, people need to read
