I had a whipple (for non cancerous reason) which was was 2 wks guide to be in for, I was actually in for 3. So it’s definitely something major, but her personal info and we won’t find out

I had a whipples too, I was in for 5 weeks!

I thought prostrate was a male issue? Why do people keep calling out prostrate?...

Surely Kate has something else who knows what but something obviously serious?

Because it’s PROSTATE. There’s only one R in it. Prostrate means lying flat.

PyongyangKipperbang · 17/01/2024 23:11

Elvanseshortage · 17/01/2024 23:04

@StuckintheRutt
It’s PROSTATE not PROSTRATE.

The two words are different. They have completely different meanings

Huge bugbear of mine too!

I take it you read the last Adrian Mole diary?!

When I said “Prostate, guys prostate” at the start of my post it was mild annoyance about the numerous posts about KC that are using “prostrate” erroneously. I should have been clearer.

I think you were responding to me. It’s annoyingly hard to quote a post since MN buggered about with the functionality. (You click the dots above someone’s post and it gives the option to do that. Rather than “reply” which is just add another post and meaningless)

I’m assuming bowel/chrons/colitis type issues. It might explain why she has looked so painfully thin recently and also why her workload has appeared less than significant at times. If she has been dealing with this sort of bowel issue fair play to her carrying on in a public role for as long as she has.

I think this as well. Failed medical management so surgery planned, then needs the additional time in hospital to settle down the remaining inflamed gut with elemental feeds then home.

stomachameleon · 17/01/2024 23:14

@MissSmiley @Zanatdy I take my hat off too you both. That's one hardcore procedure!

Thanks @stomachameleon it was pretty hardcore #whipplewarriors all good now though, cancer free and loving life x

alltootired · 17/01/2024 23:17

@stomachameleon I am not arguing William should be working. But normal people do not get 3 months of compassionate leave, or certainly not paid.

Savedpassword · 17/01/2024 23:18

The King’s prostate.
The King’s prostrate.

Important distinction 😉

So Will is cancelling all engagements, imo it shows how we really don’t need the RF anymore, he is able to do this because we pay for it, the supposed service he provides in return can be dropped for a lengthy period of time, without any recourse or discussion . It just highlights their irrelevance in the modern world

Well no, I suspect someone else is coming in to take his place - the usual go-to is Princess Anne and her family, but it could be Eugenie or Beatrice. I suspect, too, that he has to be ready to step up in case Charles is out of commission for any length of time.

If, say, the spouse of a major company chief executive was hospitalised, we wouldn't bat an eyelid at the director cancelling all engagements to provide support to spouse and family, and we wouldn't claim that this demonstrated that there was no need for a chief exec.

Blinky21 · 17/01/2024 23:23

We must all pray for her, maybe we could all take to our doorsteps and clap in a display of national solidarity

yesmen · 17/01/2024 23:24

whiteshutters · 17/01/2024 21:01

You are being ridiculous.

It is front page of all the papers, it is lead story on all the news chanels both tv and radio. Because it is our business that the future queen is in hospital.

Whgat exactly is wrong with may not be - but the fact that she is ill, is.

If it were not there would not have been an announcemet from the palace.

Diamondcurtains · 17/01/2024 23:27

purplerainbows88 · 17/01/2024 14:39

Could be cosmetic - after 3 kids who would blame her!

What sort of cosmetic? She’s very slim so seriously doubt she needs a tummy tuck !

Coldilocks · 17/01/2024 23:28

This happened at my DH’s workplace. We were preparing to go out to a corporate do when the CEO’s PA phoned DH to say the CEO’s wife was in hospital, the CEO was supporting her so DH had to give the keynote speech that night plus step up for the following week as the CEO would be with his wife.

Diamondcurtains · 17/01/2024 23:29

Tetchypants · 17/01/2024 14:43

Gotta be a gastric band??

😂😂😂. I assume this us a joke!

Diamondcurtains · 17/01/2024 23:33

Mothermummymum · 17/01/2024 15:00

My opinion is that she has probably entered rehab for an eating disorder that it’s clear for the world to see she has.
No shame in rehab and no shame in wanting to cover it up if that’s your choice.

😂😂. She’s very slim yes but not unhealthy looking! What a ridiculous comment.

alltootired · 17/01/2024 23:42

Eating disorders are not just based on being unhealthily thin,
I have no idea of Kate has an eating disorder or not, but do not peddle dangerous nonsense about what an eating disorder looks like.

stomachameleon · 17/01/2024 23:45

@alltootired I don't believe that the article said he would be off that long just that he was cancelling engagements. I assume it's a fluid arrangement. He probably doesn't want to be too far away.

Lots of people get paid leave. My partner did when I had cancer diagnosed and needed surgery (twice)

alltootired · 17/01/2024 23:49

@stomachameleon I got a week when my DP was seriously ill. Paid compassionate leave though is rarely particularly generous.

Supersimkin2 · 17/01/2024 23:49

DH’s don’t normally take 3 months off work cos their wife had an op. It’s called a nanny.

stomachameleon · 17/01/2024 23:51

@alltootired I am no massive royalist but I think this is something he wouldn't win on/. Either he is skiving and taking the piss as it's a paid job or the press would hounding him for leaving Kate and the children when she has just had surgery. They strike me as fairly hands on so perhaps he just wants to be around after her op?

Pallisers · 17/01/2024 23:53

Because it is our business that the future queen is in hospital.

Seriously? Why? does the government functioning depend on her not being in hospital? As the future queen of ... nothing at all. Do people understand how the UK is governed?

Even the queen regnant couldn't stop Boris Johnson making her prorogue parliament - later deemed unconstitutional by the supreme court. They are utterly irrelevant to the government of the UK - except for the ceremonial bits that get media coverage but mean nothing. They do PR for the nation to justify their immense privilege and wealth.

But being the wife of a guy doing PR at an inflated rate for a country, still doesn't entitle anyone to know her private medical history.

this thread is like watching the wah wah wah of Diana's death all over again. These people are nothing to you just as you are nothing to them.

He probably won’t take 3 months off completely.

Some of it might actually be contingency in case Charles has any complications and William needs to step in.

I wonder if this is a big plot to allow Harry back in without too much fuss? By getting us all to believe the royals are short staffed! 😉

^^ Yes this is a joke. No I am not serious! Yes I sincerely hope K recovers quickly and well.
