I'd not heard of Schaumburg-Lippe before!

It's a German principality - established in 1807 (before then, it had been a county first established in 1647, ruled by Counts). German monarchies were all abolished in 1918, and it became a state in its own right, being merged in to Lower Saxony in 1946.

The head of the house is called Alexander. This chap is descended from Prince Waldemar, the second son of previous head of the House, Prince Christian (who I think is either grandfather or great grandfather of current head)

I don't think he's a working royal in the British sense. He was born Mario-Helmut, and later changed his name to Mario-Max. He still uses his title, works as a writer, producer and director (according to imdb)

That guy is so funny and a real fraud, he was adopted as an adult by the new husband of his mother, who came from a German aristocrat family, and started using the title Prince.

Sounds like he is as authentic as the awards ceremony he was invited to. .

wildernesssw · 20/01/2024 07:47

Mario-Max is very funny. His bio on IMDb starts by saying he is a Royal, European Prince, for a principality that became a republic over a century ago 😂now that really is stretching 'trading on your connections'

Then he tweeted 'Congratulations To HRH Prince Harry for his VERY MUCH DESERVED Living Legends of Aviation Award' - the capital letters are his own touch... 😂

A role model for Harry in his post-RF life?

spanieleyes · 20/01/2024 07:56

I think someone is having fun on the Wikipedia page as Mario Max is now also called Antonius Adolf Alber Edward Oliver Gertraud Edith Helena Magdelena!

wildernesssw · 20/01/2024 08:19

Let's face it, his social media profile has suddenly shot up - well played, sir, well played!

Maireas · 20/01/2024 09:04

He looks like a young Len Goodman.

It’s interesting Meghan didn’t attend

I read that one of the children was unwell . If that’s the case I hope they recover quickly .

I hope so too - to be fair, Meghan didn't miss much.

If one of the kids is so sick they couldn’t be left with doria and the nanny I’d be completely shocked.

it was obvs just an excuse to justify why she wasn’t there, and fair play to her, she will have realised how cringe it was.

MaturingCheeseball · 20/01/2024 09:37

The Daily Mail report was quite glowing. I wonder what the “withdrawing” of the lawsuit entailed? Hmm

At least someone got a positive profile boost out of the whole affair.

Good on Meghan for not turning up.

Not sure I’d class that as glowing, more they know 100 percent how the public feel and all they need to do is write it…😄

wildernesssw · 20/01/2024 09:42

Yes, I am becoming an admirer of Mario-Max! He is playing the PR game more successfully than Harry at the moment...😂

wildernesssw · 20/01/2024 09:43

As I said, a role model for Harry in being a 'prince' outside a RF

pilates · 20/01/2024 09:43

Tbf if I was Meghan I wouldn’t have wanted to go and would have preferred to stay in with the kids.

wildernesssw · 20/01/2024 09:44

I would love to meet John Travolta! But the rest was a bit cringe

They're always glowing about the pair of them, it's an interesting technique. I think they print enough detail and they just allow people to fill in the blanks - and comment BTL. That's why all the wild claims on here that they get "annihilated" in the press (someone actually said that) are so untrue. The articles are usually quite anodyne.

wildernesssw · 20/01/2024 09:45

Though imagine the coverage if Meghan had danced with Travolta! And would fit with the 'taking on the mantle of Diana' theme.

I think she missed an opportunity there!

MaturingCheeseball · 20/01/2024 09:46

Why couldn’t Harry have danced with John Travolta?

That would just have been lovely.

wildernesssw · 20/01/2024 09:49

Even better!

wildernesssw · 20/01/2024 09:50

And maybe leading up to going on Strictly!

pilates · 20/01/2024 09:52

😂

mrsmingleton · 20/01/2024 09:54

Harry and his cheeky chappy type humour - you gotta love it!
