William's Life's Work Is To End Homelessness.

Just seen this post about an article in the Daily Mail.
William say's life's work is to end homelessness. His father is (and soon enough himself) the largest land owner in the country.
Instead of posing with the same homeless guy year in and year out asking commoners to end homelessness surely he can carve out some of that land to build low rent flats and studios for the poorest. He never gives up any of his money for anything but is always asking. His expenses are paid for - holidays, children's fees, accommodation etc.
Or even use all the money that comes to them from people who died intestate. It's unhealthy to accumulate so much wealth without doing any work. Even doctors who study for years and save lives do not get anything close to this. It makes no sense.

“pal Dave” - I’m sure they stay in touch all year. And is Dave still homeless?

If you read the article, it says Dave is no longer homeless, but was when he started selling The Big Issue.

Not all Big Issue sellers are homeless. Selling the magazine is supposed to just help “lift people out of poverty”. The two local Big Issue sellers in my area are Eastern European women who have been selling the magazines a couple of times a week for over 12 years.

If it’s his life’s work he’s doing a piss poor job

He's also 40. What's he been doing since he left his part time job in the air ambulance? Oh yes, being a stay at home dad to 3 children even though they have a mother who is also claiming to he a stay at home mum, nannies, housekeepers, valets, butlers and an entire office of staff.

@Angrycat2768

“and now he's going to Eton. Do far, so exactly the same.”

How do you know George is going to Eton ? There hasn’t been an announcement. His parents were also seen at Marlborough .
As for your comment about George going around telling people they had to be nice to him as his Dad was going to be King, how do you know that ? Did you hear him ?
Or is it just a nasty dig at a little boy ?

DuchessOfPort · 07/12/2023 09:18

who’s the butler then? I haven’t heard about this? That’s quite interesting? Where do they have one?

Oh look it’s nearly Christmas, when the right wing press stop viewing homeless people as having a lifestyle choice and temporarily care, so William is talking about homelessness being his passion. When there’s a football tournament (men only), it’s his passion and he’s really keen. In between it’s the environment- but not enough to take the train over a helicopter/private jet.

it’s too cynical, clearly timetabled and he needs better PR.

What are you doing to make the world a better place? We're all ears

Exactly . The one I chat to locally now has his own place but still quite vulnerable plus he loves to chat to the people who have bought from him for years.,

George is a kid, I don't like monarchy but talking badly about a kid it's very low...

I know some royal-adjacent aristos who have dispensed with a butler and have a very small household staff. I think this is becoming the norm.

You do have to be quite spectacularly unaware to not have realised how this would look.

Agreed

The nastiness knows no limits. It's so strange. William is trying to do something positive. People working with him appreciate his efforts. I'm sure he wouldn't be bothered by the small chorus of anger, unlike Harry I doubt he seeks out criticism online to work himself up over.

They are always travelling and going to events, that's their job because they represent the British Monarchy. They also do projects like that garden Kate did..
I do think they work hard, with all their money I wouldn't be going to any event but they go, they smile all the time even they might prefer to be at home watching netflix with their children and I think it's good they are giving visibility to real problems like homelessness but I also think Monarchy should be abolished .

HairdryerMary · 07/12/2023 09:30

We could actually end homelessness. Norway have nearly eradicated it. It just takes more hostels. Security in those hostels to cut down violence, rape, grooming, coercing. On site mental health and drug and alcohol support. Relocation options if they want to return to parents or families. This wouldn't work for most but we have to try.

HairdryerMary · 07/12/2023 09:30

Sorry I mean rough sleeping not homelessness

FuckHonestlyKnows · 07/12/2023 09:33

Try taking a lead from William 😆

Be so chill that by the time you hit middle age you, er, still don't have anything approaching a full time job.

Aspirational stuff 👏👏👏

Agreed. I have a strong suspicion there is no butler in the Wales household but it’s an exaggeration (or lie as they’re known) to make a weak point.

Samcro · 07/12/2023 09:42

PW lives a life of luxury. so I don't think its wrong to expect him to actually work. otherwise what is the tax payer paying him for.

love the bringing up of PH to derail, always happens on any thread that is critical of PW.

🤣 annoyingly for you, I could answer this all smugly as unfortunately I have a job working with young people to help in an area another royal previously said was their “big passion” but not so much now. Sorry - it’s super annoying when you call someone out and they go “well actually….” !

but the problem is you don’t fund me to have a lavish lifestyle - like most people doing something “useful” it pays shit, and I can only do this because dh earns well enough from the private sector to fund our family.

Given William/“not monarch working royals” expect to be funded way beyond anything anyone else working in the charity sector could expect, it’s reasonable to ask how much work they are doing and if it is in any way effective. (Effective in fixing the problem, not just effective at making the royal look good/keeping them busy/selling advertising space on newspaper websites.)

It always feels from William’s camp that he doesn’t really care, that he’s being kept busy until his dad dies. But maybe he does care - maybe homelessness is a real passion for him, maybe he’s doing a lot of work that isn’t being acknowledged, so back to my comment, he needs better PR.

He's never going to "end homelessness" so that's him sorted with a "job" for life then.

SevenMoon · 07/12/2023 10:22

You do have to remember that this waster thinks work is flying around the world, spending tax payer's money, waving at people and not paying tax, he must be baffled that it's not working. His grandmother didn't pay a penny in inheritance tax, they're spending hundreds of millions of taxpayer money doing up their massive empty house and he's been waving his hardest, what more can he do?

FuckHonestlyKnows · 07/12/2023 10:26

Waving his hardest 😂😂😂

How do you know @Angrycat2768 doesn't do positive things to help others. I do my best to do that (have done for a very long time) and I have a lot to say about the Monarchy.

We're not all one track minds banging on about Harry & Meghan you know.

FuckHonestlyKnows · 07/12/2023 10:40

Also, I find it very boring when people try to shut down discussion by saying stuff like 'oh you're very angry' in a patronising way.

I don't stomp through life being angry about the Royal Family generally, but I'm still allowed a viewpoint here.
