Red Top disclaimer - The Mirror is reporting sources as saying that the Sussexes have yet to make plans for Christmas, but that King Charles is desperate for them to come

Separately (and more reliably) I've seen nothing in the press today about Harry's legal case. Was it sitting?

I can’t imagine Charles is desperate for them to come for Xmas . In fact I think it’s highly unlikely, it was reported that harry and Megan wanted to go to sandringham for crimbo but the palace were not for it, who knows, but . I am sure if they do come the Wales’s will make other plans,

i think palace sources were saying Xmas was a total no, but they may invite for new year, as the wales will make other plans for new year and not be there .

but going for new year is unlikely to have rhe same pr effect and revitalise their fortunes, as being seen to be there at Xmas and going to the church service with the rest of the family.

the fact it’s 19 days away to Xmas, says they aren’t coming for Xmas.

Yes, I haven't seen anything recently about Eugenie and Jack seeing them, but then Eugenie just had her second DC, so no doubt she's had a busy year and one where long-haul flights to CA aren't exactly top of her list of priorities. I do wonder though whether that relationship has cooled.

They supposedly visited them in Portugal after Invictus in Germany https://people.com/meghan-markle-prince-harry-vacation-portugal-after-invictus-games-visit-princess-eugenie-report-7976175

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Just Vacationed in Portugal — and May Have Visited a Royal Relative: Report

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry stopped in Portugal before returning to California from Germany, likely to visit his cousin Princess Eugenie

Genuine question - do they think after everything that they've said and done that the Royal Family would welcome them?! I know Charles is his father, but even so. If it's true, they've some nerve.

I am pretty sure KC will be going to Birkhall/ Balmoral for NY . As Meghan has never set foot there I cannot imagine her being thrilled to be there in January !
As an aside , has KC ever met Lili ?

LoL - the bashing PW is getting over his homeless initiative. I don't know why he's trying. He should obviously just have his security team hand out backpacks to the homeless while he is rolling around tough neighborhoods with his kids and a journalist in tow.

ArcaneWireless · 06/12/2023 18:28

@Maireas

Well if Charles does choose to forgive them and opts to carry on as normal/positively welcome them?

He is a better person than me.

Over the years, me and the siblings have had our wobbles. We would, however, don a pair of stripey tights, rock a pair of Ruby slippers and stand about waiting for a house to fall from the sky before we allowed anyone outwith family to do a scobie.

Any insults/accusations or whatever would not be contrived pish but would be something truthful and harsh enough to get giddy ower. And you sort it before it festers into an ugly throbbing boil.

I’m from an area where folk may well find out your business but the stuff that really matters is not hung out on the line for all and sundry to dissect.

I’d maybe meet him in Wetherspoons but he’d not be welcome again in the only private sanctuary you get away from prying eyes/opinions etc etc. Who knows if photos of ‘private areas’ would again find their way into an arty black and white photo.

I’d no more return to how it was in the halcyon days than I would order a lettuce leaf for my last meal on this earth.

RecoIIectionsMayVary · 06/12/2023 18:28

I suspect the 'content' Netflix wanted them to 'create' was royal

Agree, a day in the life of the Queens Corgi would probably be quite popular.

In my experience little people do not like little things, it is teens that like little expensive things.

But cringe at that comment.

EdithWeston · 06/12/2023 18:49

Corgis do go down well - and there have been several programmes already.

Hard to see what his USP will be, as the two who survived her live with the Yorks and that's a bit of a problematic connection to trade on.

Edited

That's the way I see it, too.

My family has had their fair amount of issues, lost both parents before my siblings were legally adults, so we muddled along.
My brother often has a Harry-like "Oh, poor me, look at how I lost my parents", if he'd air dirty laundry for all to see he'd not be welcome in anyone's home any longer.
Luckily for us, my brother actually listens every now and again when his spiel gets too much and we give his head a wobble. Incidentally, my brother is only a few weeks older than Harry.
However, my brother, in stark contrast to Harry, knows that if there is anyone in the world who knows what he went through, it is the rest of us.

If I were KC I'd only invite them to events where no cameras are present and where nothing more than "How are you?" is exchanged. And ideally with a check for recording devices beforehand.
So no Christmas church walkabout at Sandringham.

Vespanest · 06/12/2023 18:56

I’m not sure of any of the Christmas rumours, it would be an awful time to try and mediate a truce. If it is true can Charles risk losing one child to please the other, when the other will sell you to the wolves. If I was Camilla I’d stock up on Gin and Tonic and find a dark cupboard to hide in. If I was William and Kate I wouldn’t want to be anywhere near them for fear of the sources leaking, especially putting their children in that position. Why would Harry and Meghan want it either with their views that’s it’s them who are leaked against.

They've been working for Netflix for quite a while, one of the documentaries they produced won an Oscar and an Emmy a few years ago

What an awful thing to say!

What’s “awful” about it? It’s completely factual.

So if its factual, you will have proof that Meghan's children are suffering and she's and uncaring mum.

At Home with the California Royals coulld have been a great ongoing show if they had a sense of humour about themselves. Shown themsleves doing normal stuff, being dumb, but with a warm hearted feel and the actual RF somewhere in the background e.g M packing her tartan as off the Balmoral. H trying to teach her a Scottish reel and her being crap at it etc.

But they are so thin skinned have such fragile egos they couldn't manage anything which would require lighthearted levity.

The Mariah interview painfully revealed that, when M couldn't tolerate any banter or gentle piss taking by Mariah Carey until she assured herself 'oh you're saying I'm fabulous, I get it now'. Unintentioneally hilarious 😂

They must be such a bore to be around.

Their attempts at lightheartedness or levity would involve them stating 'we are such lighthearted people who value sharing humour with those we love and lifting those who are oppressed. It's just who we are.'

You do realise that some would say your tartan and Scottish reel things could be seen as racist? Or unconscious bias? 😂

I have to admit, it's been pleasant to see how enjoyable all three threads have been to read.

Just spotted this new thread! Yes I agree. It has been almost impossible to join online discussions without horrendous, misogynistic insults about Catherine or Meghan flying around, as well as deeply unpleasant personal insults about Will and Harry, so these threads have been a breath of fresh air.

Hollywood is absolutely teeming with smart creative types who know how to work with others. I would include the Obamas in this. H and M have absolutely nothing to contribute other than their tedious sob story.

ArcaneWireless · 06/12/2023 19:45

So if its factual, you will have proof that Meghan's children are suffering and she's and uncaring mum.

Was that stated by the poster you quoted?

I have no idea if their kids are suffering and I wouldn’t presume to say she is a bad mother or he is a bad father.

I do think though that tensions outwith the family home can and do infiltrate it - despite the best intentions of the parents to protect their children.

Anger and bitterness and feelings of injustice would not be hidden easily.

More so when children start accessing the internet or go to school. Kids can be cruel and gossipy.

Like it or not, there is a hell of a lot of negative press regarding H&M and the children will inevitably suffer (to what degree is of course unknown) from the fallout.

I don’t think it is outwith the realms of possibility for the children to question at some point why their parents have a difficult or non existent relationship with their families. Or why they are bobbing along in life with titles that suggest they should be part of something so much more.

Rockybooboo · 06/12/2023 19:17

Don’t be so silly. It’s factual in that she does spend masses of time away from her children on special occasions (they both do) and they have no relationship whatsoever with any of their extended family. The only person who used the words suffering and uncaring was you. Previous poster just said she felt sorry for them for the above factual reasons. There’s nothing “awful” about that at all. You’re just pretending.

I feel a Mrs Merton moment coming on. "And when you chose the Duke of Westminster as godparent, what first attracted you to Britain's richest man?"

Thanks 🙏 for the new thead.

😁I also felt the same Mrs Merton moment coming on too. "And when you chose Tyler Perry as godparent to your daughter, what was it about this multi millionaire, a man you barely knew, that placed him straight into top spot for the role?"

SkyFullofStars1975 · 06/12/2023 19:51

Archie and Lilibet are a Prince and Princess at the request /insistence of their parents. They're not going to bump into many others in California, and the only people who are growing up with those titles and all that they bear are their cousins and second cousins. There's no "association" and for that, I genuinely feel sorry for them.

The Obamas have never dished the dirt on anyone.

Also, they clearly have the abilities to pick good advisers, follow their advice and stick to the brief. And they put the hours in to really learn a subject (presidents have to do this, across all sorts of issues where they may not have personal expertise, so have to find the right people to trust to brief them properly)

I think this has carried over to their new roles - they have the credibility from previous success, and transferrable skills in dealing with new subject matter and disparate stakeholder

They got on famously well with ER II.

I'm wondering if they had an affinity in shining a light on what others are doing, rather than self-aggrandising?

I don't really agree.

They are DGC of the monarch so entitled to be Prince and Princess. It's not insistence, it is simply parental choice about their DC's moniker

But they were also entitled to be either the Earl of Dumbarton or Lord Archie and Lady Lili from birth. The parents chose not go with that birth entitlement at the time. THey did not have to use the Prince and Princess, even after the accession of King Charles (they could have followed the example of the then Wessexes, who did not opt to use their DC's birthright entitlement to royal titles because they did not expect them ever to be working royals.
