I sing quite a few user names to myself when I see them.

including yours OP - with the changes 😉

If there is racism within any organisation it should be brought to the public's attention. If it's destabilising to the country that's the fault of the abuser not the victim.

But Harry himself said (eventually) that it wasn't racism.

Wow that is one scary read. If there is racism within any organisation it should be brought to the public's attention. If it's destabilising to the country that's the fault of the abuser not the victim. As for mentioning the tower, it's a really scary prospect that people would be threatened with punishment for criticising the Royal family whether you were born into it or not. It's usually the right wing who stand up for free speech!

I would have thought our government the past few years have caused us to be more weak and vulnerable.

Absolutely zero racism has been proven within the Royal Family from the innuendos and scant pieces of information proffered by H&M. Nothing has moved since the original allegations in Oprah, other than 2 names being put forward with no substance to back up any charge of racism.

The tower comment is a piece of rhetoric. The article is talking about removing titles, not chopping his stupid head off. The Hill is centrist to slightly left leaning if anything.

@themessygarden hope I haven't given you an ear worm!

I do think it is a little hyperbolic, but the essentials are true, imo. The World is going through a massive shift, something we seems to do every 100 years or so. Any action, no matter how puerile, done in the right conditions and aimed at the head of a major power can have a disproportionate knock on effect.

If the Head of a major power is so weak that it can't be criticised then maybe the power needs replacing.

What are you suggesting the UK should be replaced by?

RecoIIectionsMayVary · 10/12/2023 17:22

I apologised for not understanding and read what Arcane said.

But now I'm not sure I understand quite what you are saying.

We do not know what was said, so I can't agree that what Harry said wasn't racist was actually racist because of any reason.

I agree if they said a child might be 'too brown' that is racist but as the OP experienced I don't see talking about what a child would look like as racism.

And this is the problem- no one knows and those that do are not saying.

My personal view is that if the conversation was actually that awful then it would have been 'leaked'

No need for you to apologize for my awkward wording.

But I think we are on the same page. “Concerns” would be racist, right?

ArcaneWireless · 10/12/2023 22:49

It would appear I am not allowed to show a chastised Aud2 when I apologised to the OP for wandering off topic.

Anyway @Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar I am sorry that I went off topic for a bit. I have noted it and I will try to keep on track from here on in.

I love Aud2. Just saying. 🌱 😘

I don't think anyone is suggesting that the RF or the institution of monarchy should be beyond criticism.

What's being called into question here the basis for that criticism - its motivation and its authenticity.

H&M's salvos at the RF are driven by self interest, not out of any desire for reform or change in the UK being a republic - if they felt that way the first thing they would have done is renounce their titles voluntarily. To quote H when asked the question of retaining or relinquishing his titles "what difference would that make?".

So the motivation here is hardly worthy of kudos and the authenticity of the allegations has unraveled significantly post Oprah with the pair of them unable stick to their own brief on the matter when it comes to the details (or lack of them) and frankly quite astonishing revelations as detailed beautifully by the OP around the issue of race in H's interviews and "gene" dominance.

If they want a dialogue about the institution of monarchy and to be taken seriously then they need to up their game (and put their skin in it).

Instead I think rather than weaken the position of KC and W they have strengthened it - because a lot of people simply respond to their antics as thank goodness W&C are next in line and not H&M.

I don't know if racism took place because I wasn't there. A bit silly to think that a victim of any abuse can always prove it. Unless you walk around with a tape recorder, You're not going to.have evidence-based you? Piers Morgan named the two alleged racists not H&M.

The trouble is that the tower comment comes after death threats to Archie from a far right group, Clarkson talked about his sick sexual violent fantasies against Meghan, Holmes talked about pushing H&M off the balcolny , Morgan said Harry should be killed and that revolting Hobson talked about dangling Archie over a balcony. It's bullying.

The Hill maybe centrist but this comment isnt
I have felt that the original racism accusation in Oprah did damage to race relations in the UK (as part and parcel of a wider movement with its basis in Marxism a la BLM),

Yeah I meant the Head not the power itself.

You see you pretend that you want to have a serious conversation by attaching an article but then when someone gives you their opinion, you resort to mocking them.

With regard to your username. Is it referring to Meghan or yoursel?

themessygarden · 10/12/2023 23:08

i do think in the immediate aftermath of the Oprah racism accusation it caused shock waves, however the accusation was so opaque that quite quickly people decided that it lacked merit. Harry subsequently denied his family are racist., as did William.

Now the name is known, the prediction that Meghan made in the Oprah interview of how damaging it would be to that person, has not materialised. On the contrary, they have only further damaged themselves.

ArcaneWireless · 10/12/2023 23:16

Indeed @themessygarden

I wonder how long it took, after the names were released, for the delight to turn to dismay. 🌱

I don't think it was just that the allegation was opaque it was also because it was bookended by statements that were categorically untrue (the bike rides, the conflation of titles and security and of course the "secret" wedding).

If you are going to make some very weighty allegations, you need credibility to make them stick.

Like everyone else I have no idea what was said or the context but when considering the accusations it's only reasonable to consider the motivations and credibility of the person or people making them.

parksandrecs · 10/12/2023 23:18

It was the Emperor's new clothes - 'someone said something racist' but we won't say who/what...

Some people were so delighted to believe it they jumped at it, and attacked those who asked questions as being racist/supporting racists. But eventually the lack of clothes/details became more and more obvious

Well it was Piers Morgan that released the names and i think he's still delighted as he knew it would cause more upset.

I thought it was the publication of OS's book that releasedthe names?

Not very long I would suggest given the "pap" event of M smiling and wearing a bracelet given to her by KC.

Who the hell would have noticed the bracelet or its origin without being briefed about it?

I confess I'd be very intrigued to listen to the conversations happening in Montecito right now, whilst I'm pretty sure I can guess at the chatter on the UKRF WhatsApp Smile

ArcaneWireless · 10/12/2023 23:24

I believe you are correct @parksandrecs 🌱

themessygarden · 10/12/2023 23:25

Yes, Omid is the one who released the names in his book, Piers just jumped on the bandwagon.

parksandrecs · 10/12/2023 23:26

I find Piers Morgan and his views unpleasant, but he was only repeating what had been said in the Dutch edition of Scobie's book

ArcaneWireless · 10/12/2023 23:26

Oh to be a fly on the wall in Montecito or a guest on the UKRF WhatsApp @BreadInCaptivity 😁 🌱
